Chapter 39: Politic

Liam thought it was just a normal correction, but minute by minute, his eyes stopped blinking as the price kept falling.

Within ten minutes, it dropped to a 20 million market cap.

How could it fall that far?

Didn’t they see that there was five million dollars acting as the foundation of this coin?

Liam hurriedly called Jack.

"What’s going on? Don’t tell me you sold your coins?" Liam asked in an angry tone.

If Jack actually did that, he would go straight to him and beat him to a pulp.

"Liam, I didn’t. I swear." Jack replied quickly.

"Then why is the price crashing?"

"I just found out. There’s a negative post from the owner of the biggest exchange. He’s suggesting MindChain might be a scam and revealed that the developer controls over 60% of the supply."

"What the hell?"

"This guy is also questioning why someone so skilled at trading would choose this method, and why he’s being so stingy with dividends when he could distribute 100%, including the massive fees collected. Liam, I think we need to change our strategy if your goal is to push this coin higher."

"What strategy?" Liam asked.

"People don’t trust it because all the funds are fully controlled by the developer. I think we should use some of it to add liquidity. If there’s more liquidity, the drop won’t be this severe, and we should keep increasing it."

"No, no, that’s not happening." Liam immediately rejected the idea.

How could he not have thought of that before?

But there was a selfish side of him that had to be satisfied.

Even though he wanted the coin’s price to rise, he was even more afraid of losing that money.

Deep down, he couldn’t deny that he already saw that money as his own.

"Liam, it’ll be difficult otherwise."

"No... just leave it like this. I don’t believe it’ll fall any further. Focus on posting something on Twitter."

"Yeah..." Jack could only respond softly.

Liam shook his head before stepping out of the car, glancing at the price once more—it had dropped again to an 18 million market cap.

It seemed people were now convinced it was a scam. At this price, they’d rather sell and secure profits instead of relying on a share of the developer’s funds—assuming those would even be distributed.

"Mom!" Liam greeted his mother, who was typing at home, before heading straight to his room.

He jumped onto the bed and lay down.

Naturally, his thoughts drifted to buying a new house.

He wondered how much money he should spend.

Not long after he lay down, MindChain distributed over 100,000 dollars from the latest profit.

The total balance reached 5.4 million dollars, with part of the increase coming from fees generated by people selling MindChain.

"Mm!" Liam frowned as his phone rang—it was Jack again, whom he had just spoken to.

"Is something wrong?" Liam asked after picking up.

"Liam, I just heard from a friend that Luna and Vivian are going to fight tonight at Alex’s party."

Liam, "..."

"What the hell are they doing?"

"Looks like it didn’t end at the university. Vivian challenged Luna, and Luna agreed. What should we do? Are we going to stop them?"

Liam scratched his head.

If this were the past, he wouldn’t care—and he wouldn’t have had the standing to interfere anyway.

But things were different now. Luna could be considered his little girlfriend, and he now had enough influence to step in.

If he did nothing, it would seem like he didn’t care at all.

After that, he called Luna.

"Liam, what’s up?" Luna sounded cheerful.

"I heard you’re going to fight Vivian?" Liam got straight to the point.

"Oh, so you heard." Luna remained calm. "She challenged me. If I don’t show up, people will think I’m scared. I can’t back down. How about you come and support me?"

Once again, Liam scratched his head.

He knew he couldn’t stop Luna with just words.

This was about pride.

He himself would react the same way if challenged.

Even if he forced her to back down, it would only give Vivian a chance to humiliate them further.

After thinking for a moment, Liam came up with an idea.

"Alright, we’ll go to that party together," he said.

"Really?" Luna sounded surprised.

"What time?" Liam asked. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"We can leave at 10 PM... It starts pretty late since we’re waiting until midnight for Alex’s birthday," Luna replied.

"Alright." Liam ended the call.

He continued monitoring MindChain.

It dropped again to a 15 million market cap, but it seemed the remaining holders were loyal believers.

The price stabilized there, though the platform was filled with angry comments.

Those who bought at higher prices were now protesting loudly.

But Liam decided to do nothing.

He focused on personal trading to enrich himself.

In his view, it was better to wait for something truly big.

While trading, he couldn’t help but glance again at the paper Fiona Wilson had given him.

The beautiful lecturer aiming to become mayor wanted a donation.

Should he just give it?

But giving a small amount—even 10,000 dollars—would probably be seen as just a donation.

There would be no real return for him.

And if he wanted something in return, even 100,000 dollars wouldn’t be enough.

But then again, what did he even want from politics?

An individual trader didn’t need political backing—unless he turned into a businessman seeking government projects.

Unfortunately, there was no phone number on the paper, so Liam couldn’t call her to talk first.

Even so, despite not knowing what he wanted, there was a growing urge within him... to gain power.

DING!

(You have obtained the Politic Cheat; it will multiply any money you spend on politics by one hundred times. Every 1 dollar you send will become 100 dollars when received by a politician, or if you use it for your own campaign!)

Liam scratched his head as he saw that.

It seemed he had developed a habit of scratching his head whenever something new happened.
