Chapter 508: Chapter 292: Change Node 2
After all, the disparity in strength was evident, with Ten Thousand Headed Bird being more powerful overall than the Star Alliance.
If the Black Rope Tower focused all its energy on dealing with the Star Alliance, and was taken advantage of by Ten Thousand Headed Bird, the loss would likely be far more than just three planes.
Unless the Star Alliance’s offensive was overwhelmingly swift, capturing the four planes of Purple Moon and Tainuo in a short time, only then might Black Rope Tower shift its primary target.
Truth be told, the Star Alliance helped Ten Thousand Headed Bird divert some pressure, but in what sense was Ten Thousand Headed Bird not also shielding the Star Alliance from much of the same?
The foundation of their cooperation was always mutual benefit.
"What should we do next?" Lize asked.
Sunan thought for a moment and said, "The usual approach, primarily targeting the Purple Moon Plane and Tainuo Plane, while merely containing the other two places."
"However, we might slow down the pace of the attack to avoid drawing too much attention from Black Rope Tower."
With three new planes in their grasp, the Star Alliance was already satiated and could advance or retreat as they pleased, using a low-intensity war as a catalyst to slowly develop and fortify.
Once enough strength was amassed, they could then suddenly erupt and swallow those four planes in one gulp.
By that time, the war between Black Rope Tower and Ten Thousand Headed Bird should have reached its most intense phase, unlikely to spare any effort against the Star Alliance.
During this period, others could be entrusted with the complexities of war command, allowing Sunan to focus on cultivating, striving to break through to Level 3 Crystallization as soon as possible.
...
In the year 2320 of the Starlight Calendar, the Star Alliance simultaneously launched an offensive on the Tainuo Plane, Purple Moon Plane, Lake Baikal Plane, and Baton Plane.
After fierce battles in the initial stage, the Star Alliance forces quickly established footholds with outpost bases on the four planes.
But afterward, instead of capitalizing on the momentum of their initial victories to launch aggressive attacks, the Star Alliance steadied their expansion, meticulously building their occupied zones and transporting troops, advancing slowly yet cautiously, puzzling the garrisons of the four planes.
However, the impressive feat of the Star Alliance capturing three planes previously left Black Rope Tower apprehensive yet vigilant.
Thus began a protracted war.
Meanwhile, Ten Thousand Headed Bird, having reallocated forces from these four planes, devoted more power to conquests on other planes.
In its eagerness for results, Ten Thousand Headed Bird forsook a gradual strategy, launching an exceptionally rapid offensive instead.
The war between Black Rope Tower and Ten Thousand Headed Bird suddenly became intense.
...
Time flew by like arrows, and the cycle of sun and moon turned relentlessly.
As time passed, the Mage Civil War not only showed no signs of ending but became increasingly intense, spreading from high echelons to lower tiers, ensnaring more and more second- and third-tier Wizard Influences into the conflict.
In the year 2343 of the Starlight Calendar, Steel Constructs launched a war against the Greenfield Association, sending millions of Golem Puppets into the Cyan Plane where the latter was located.
In the year 2384 of the Starlight Calendar, the Secret Silver Council launched a surprise attack on Long Feather Plane under the White Crane Tower, killing over a hundred wizards, including two Level 3 Wizards, enraging the White Crane Tower into launching a massive counteroffensive on the Secret Silver Council’s headquarters at the Subsilver Plane.
In the year 2400 of the Starlight Calendar, a massive battle erupted between Ten Thousand Headed Bird and Black Rope Tower on the Sibais Plane, with both armies fielding over five hundred thousand troops and more than a hundred Wizard Towers, along with four to five hundred war artifacts involved.
This great battle lasted nearly two years, ultimately concluding in a pyrrhic victory for Ten Thousand Headed Bird.
The Black Rope Tower army was expelled from the Sibais Plane, allowing Ten Thousand Headed Bird to seize this resource-rich plane successfully.
This marked the first Black Rope Tower plane that Ten Thousand Headed Bird had conquered in over a hundred years of the Mage Civil War, officially heralding the start of a counteroffensive.
In the year 2424 of the Starlight Calendar, two True Spirit Wizards of the Sea King Whale were ambushed by multiple True Spirit Wizards from the Flame Pattern Association, Pale Mask, and Magic Cocoon Association within the Realm of Truth, resulting in one death and one escape among the Sea King Whale True Spirit Wizards.
The news shocked everyone in the Wizard World.
This was the first instance of a True Spirit Wizard dying outside of a Deicide Battle in over two thousand years.
After this battle, the intensity of the Mage Civil War escalated dramatically, spurring many Wizard Influences to abandon their scruples and attack more ferociously, accelerating the war’s progression into white-hot intensity.
In the year 2487 of the Starlight Calendar, two True Spirit Wizards of Pale Mask were ambushed and killed by the True Spirit Wizards of the Sky Crow, Cliff Breaker Association, and Abyssal Dawn, subsidiary organizations of the Wisdom Code.
In the year 2502 of the Starlight Calendar, the Wisdom Code dispatched five True Spirit Wizards to collaborate with Ten Thousand Headed Bird’s True Spirit Wizards in ambushing the Black Rope Tower’s True Spirit Wizards in the Realm of Truth.
Out of the Black Rope Tower’s three True Spirit Wizards, two died and one was injured, severely weakening Black Rope Tower’s core strength.
For several subsequent decades, ambushes targeting True Spirit Wizards occurred frequently among the major Wizard Influences, forcing True Spirit Wizards to retreat into seclusion, limiting their trips into the Realm of Truth.
In the year 2533 of the Starlight Calendar, the major Wizard Influences reached an agreement to no longer target True Spirit Wizards, but True Spirit Wizards were also prohibited from participating in wars, with any violators facing attacks from all Wizard Influences.
In the year 2587 of the Starlight Calendar, after over a century of recuperation, Ten Thousand Headed Bird launched a sudden offensive, capturing the Kuerhe Plane in one fell swoop.
In the year 2596 of the Starlight Calendar, Ten Thousand Headed Bird seized the Gaiwu Plane, continuing to expand their occupied territory.
However, in the same year, Black Rope Tower redirected its main forces in a surprise attack on the Kuerhe Plane, retaking it.
The contest between the two sides quickly slipped back into a deadlock.
In the year 2658 of the Starlight Calendar, Steel Constructs conquered the Cyan Plane, destroying the Greenfield Association headquarters and killing all its Wizard high command with its famed steel flood in the multiverse.
The Greenfield Association became the first Wizard Influence to be annihilated since the outbreak of the Mage Civil War!
It was also the first Wizard Influence to be wiped out in nearly ten thousand years!
Although merely a third-tier Wizard Influence without even True Spirit Wizards, its annihilation nevertheless caused a huge uproar, with repercussions spreading even beyond the Wizard World to multiple plane powers.
Owing to this event, the previously raging Wizard War’s intensity abruptly decreased significantly.
Many Wizard Influences seemed to have been doused with cold water, calming down slightly and beginning to reconsider the war’s significance.
The Mage Civil War was evidently at a turning point, with people watching to see if it might gradually end or escalate even further.
...
Holy Tree Plane, Wisdom Code headquarters.
Ronin was staring at the documents on the table, his brow furrowed, mood somewhat gloomy.
Without the aid of its subsidiary organizations, the Wisdom Code had been at a disadvantage in its struggle against the Dark Throne.
So far, six planes had already been captured by the Dark Throne.
Though these six planes were trivial compared to the hundreds controlled by the Wisdom Code, it was an ominous sign nonetheless.
Currently, the Wisdom Code could still hold on, but should conditions fail to improve, it would eventually crumble.
Then, under a chain reaction, the situation for the Wisdom Code could rapidly worsen.
Early consideration was imperative!
Coming to his senses, Ronin looked at his adjutant standing before the table and asked in a deep voice, "Is there still no word from Ten Thousand Headed Bird?"
"None yet, sir."
The adjutant shook his head, hesitated for a moment, then continued:
"In the battle of the Sibais Plane, though Ten Thousand Headed Bird won, it was a pyrrhic victory, with considerable losses of their own."
"Ten Thousand Headed Bird’s base was always weaker than Black Rope Tower, and only now has it barely regained its footing. Although it captured two more planes afterward, one was subsequently lost, and currently, Ten Thousand Headed Bird and Black Rope Tower are locked in a stubborn stalemate, unlikely to make any headway soon."
Ronin’s expression darkened slightly.
Previously he had requested the Wisdom Society to intervene, deploying several scholars and many True Spirit Wizards from their subsidiary organizations to ambush the True Spirit Wizards of Black Rope Tower to create pressure on them, giving Ten Thousand Headed Bird an opportunity to gain an advantage.
However, Ten Thousand Headed Bird failed to seize this hard-won opportunity, which was truly disappointing.
Originally, he had hoped that Ten Thousand Headed Bird could quickly resolve matters with Black Rope Tower and support the Wisdom Code, but now it seemed this plan was untenable.
After a long silence, Ronin suddenly asked:
"And what about the Star Alliance? I haven’t heard much about them recently."
