Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Sword Strike
The Insect Priestess roared, "Dumbass, this guy is a mysterious expert!"
The Sword Priestess froze for a moment, then quickly snapped back to reality. As a member of the Spiritual Sect, of course she knew about mysterious experts; she’d just never met one before, so it hadn’t clicked right away.
’White lines that slash like swords... It really is a mysterious expert.’
’But according to the Sect’s descriptions, the mysterious expert’s white lines weren’t supposed to be this dense, or this thick, were they?’
The moment the Insect Priestess finished speaking, the sound of tearing air rang out once more. Hundreds of densely packed white lines, like a net of blades, slashed toward the two Priestesses one after another.
This time, the white lines seemed to originate from an even closer point.
The two Spiritual Sect Priestesses managed to block all the white lines again, but the bloody gashes on their bodies grew deeper. The Insect Priestess, who was weaker in direct combat, even coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Large swaths of the red insects on her arm died off, causing her crimson Blood Claw to rapidly wither. The Insect Priestess took a ragged breath. No longer able to maintain her composure through the pain, she roared in fury:
"Damn it, if you’ve got the guts, come out and face me!"
As if in answer to her challenge, the sound of footsteps suddenly echoed through the still air. TAP... TAP... TAP...
Each step was like a mesmerizing, demonic rhythm, drawing both of their gazes to a spot near the mountain path ahead.
The Sword Priestess swallowed hard, her heart pounding with a dull THUMP, THUMP.
This time, she saw it clearly. The mysterious expert’s white lines weren’t thicker; rather, each one was now covered in smaller "white blades."
’Even though she didn’t know what these "white blades" were... she was certain of one thing: the mysterious expert had gotten stronger!’
Hearing the incessant footsteps, the Insect Priestess stopped shouting. Her eyes narrowed as she stared intently at the path ahead.
The Insect Priestess had already recalled all of her dispersed Sequencer Energy, including the insect inside Liu Ming’s body. She had to conserve her full strength to face the monster before her.
’Because if she lost, she would die.’
’Once you’re dead, nothing else matters. All she wanted was to survive.’
The pair kept their eyes glued to the mountain path. Just as their eyes began to ache from the strain, something on the previously empty path finally stirred.
A young man in a white short-sleeved shirt, holding a Black Sword, slowly walked down the mountain path.
At first, they could only see a blurry silhouette. It gradually grew clearer, until finally, the two Priestesses saw exactly who was approaching, and they froze in shock.
"You?"
"Su Yu’s brother?!"
The two of them spoke in unison.
The revelation was simply too shocking. Everyone in the Spiritual Sect knew Su Xing was just some poor soul who’d gotten swept up in this affair.
He was a complete and utter normal person, nothing like the other Sequencers... and yet, here he was.
As the shock faded, the Insect Priestess’s expression darkened. She instantly realized the entire Spiritual Sect had been played for fools by the damn kid in front of them.
’So the mysterious expert they could never find... has been right by Su Yu’s side all along!’
The Sword Priestess next to the Insect Priestess wasn’t overthinking it. The moment she processed the situation, she transformed into a streak of blue light and charged at Su Xing, shouting coldly:
"You’ve got some nerve! Crawling out of your little rat’s nest, are you? Then die!"
This time, the Sword Priestess was going for the kill.
She had already decided that even if she were severely injured in the process, she would take Su Xing down with her!
’That dense barrage of white lines was powerful, but she was confident she could withstand it one more time.’
’This time, the kill is certain!’
Su Xing remained standing at the top of the path, his expression unchanging.
As he watched the Sword Priestess charge at him like a rabid dog, Su Xing showed no signs of retreating. Instead, he raised his Black Sword, and white lines began to condense around it, one after another.
When the Sword Priestess saw this, her scalp began to tingle. It wasn’t because she could perceive just how terrifying those white lines were.
Rather, it was her sixth sense, screaming at her like a madman: Don’t get any closer! Don’t get any closer! Don’t get any closer! If you get near him, you will die!
The more powerful an expert was, the more they trusted their sixth sense.
The Sword Priestess was no exception. But she had already committed to the charge; there was no turning back now. Ignoring the frantic warnings from her intuition, she gritted her teeth and continued her rush toward Su Xing.
"Heh... If you’re so eager to die, I’ll oblige you."
Hundreds, even thousands of white lines, suddenly condensed into existence.
But these white lines didn’t slash outward as they had before. Instead, they clung to the Black Sword. From a distance, the pitch-black blade seemed to have transformed into a glowing white Light Saber.
White lines and white blades spiraled around the Black Sword, emanating waves of terrifying power.
This was Su Xing’s full-power strike.
Then, Su Xing moved. He took a single step with his right foot and vanished. All the Sword Priestess could see was a flash of white light—a streak left by the Black Sword—as it pierced through her body.
In the next instant, the streak of white light left by the Black Sword erupted into thousands of fine white lines, shining like the moon’s reflection on the ground.
’What the fuck is that?!’
The Insect Priestess, who had been holding back, felt her scalp explode as she witnessed the scene.
She was stunned, frozen on the spot. For a moment, she had no idea what to do. As if driven mad, the Insect Priestess began to mutter ceaselessly:
"Impossible... Impossible! How can this be?!"
"Killing the Sword Priestess in a single blow... That’s more ridiculous than Liu Ming! How can a backwater place like Southern Cang City have an unaffiliated master of such a terrifying level?!"
"No, no, no! Don’t kill me! I don’t want to—!"
Southern Cang City was a remote area. Its economy was underdeveloped, and barely anyone lived there—it was what you’d call the Cang City Suburbs.
That was why she couldn’t fathom why a great master of Su Xing’s caliber would be holed up in such a small place. But no matter how puzzled she was, she would never get the chance to find the answer.
Because Su Xing’s sword flash had never stopped. After killing the Sword Priestess, his Black Sword pierced through the Insect Priestess’s body as well.
The Insect Priestess’s pleas for mercy came to an abrupt halt. She looked down at herself in despair, a flicker of reminiscence in her eyes as her mind drifted to some unknown thought.
A large hole had been torn through her chest, filled with a dense web of slender white lines. These lines then erupted within her, and the Insect Priestess’s body shattered like a clay figure, scattering bits of flesh and blood across the ground.
Two Tier Three Peak experts, killed in a single sword strike!
"Haaah... Killed them all."
Su Xing let out a long breath, then glanced back at the still-unconscious Liu Ming.
He took out his phone, unlocked the screen, and sent a message to Su Yu.
Then, his right hand relaxed. Specks of black light swirled around his body, and he vanished from the hill.
