Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Pierce Lv. 1

Sunlight streamed through the window,

casting small, golden trapezoids across the room.

Su Xing stood in the warm sunlight, brushing his teeth as he scrolled through his phone, checking his class schedule for the day. Once he was finished, he set his phone down and spat out the toothpaste foam.

Seeing his increasingly refreshed reflection in the mirror, Su Xing touched his face and said:

’Too bad. Only three Sword Dao classes today.’

’Oh well, it’s still early before the first class. I’ll go practice for a bit. I have to grind and max out ’Thrust’ today.’

News about the recent murders had been dwindling, and their district had returned to its usual tranquility. Many Sword Hall Coaches had asked the Hall Master to end their leave of absence, wanting to return to work.

But unfortunately,

the Hall Master, seeing that Su Xing could handle all the work by himself, decisively fired all of them for the sake of the Sword Hall’s bottom line. Su Xing didn’t say anything about it. Although it was unfair to his colleagues, for him, it was an absolute blessing. At least now, no one would be competing with him for Sword Dao Points.

Pushing open his door, Su Xing was just about to head to the training hall to begin his daily practice.

Suddenly, he heard faint, intermittent discussion coming from Su Yu’s room. A man’s voice and a woman’s voice—it was clearly Su Yu and Shen Ruyun, talking about something early in the morning.

If Su Xing hadn’t been passing by,

an ordinary person would have never heard what they were saying.

Su Yu had rushed out for a meeting late last night, so they were probably discussing matters related to the special department now. Thinking this, Su Xing stopped in his tracks, intending to listen in on their conversation.

"Are you sure you’re not going to tell your brother about us?"

"He might have already gotten some information about us from that mysterious master."

Shen Ruyun said in a low voice.

Hearing Shen Ruyun’s words, Su Yu shook his head and sighed softly.

"You said ’might.’ Besides... even if my brother knows a little about the Extraordinary World, isn’t he still just an ordinary person?"

"I just want to protect him and let him live a simple life. If I tell him about all this, he’ll probably worry about me and might do something foolish. That would be bad."

"Sigh. Anyway, it’s your decision."

"If you’re not going to tell him, then just keep it a secret. The upcoming mission won’t be easy. It might be a good thing that he doesn’t know."

Su Xing stood in the hallway, listening to their whispers until the room fell silent. Only then did he leave for the training hall, his mind racing to process what Su Yu and Shen Ruyun had said.

’What the hell...’

’I got information about the special department from a mysterious master?’

Although Su Xing had no idea how the special department came to that conclusion based on what he’d said yesterday.

But he didn’t really care what the special organization guessed about him. More important was the word Shen Ruyun had mentioned: mission.

’So...’

’Is Su Yu going on some kind of mission with the special organization?’

Honestly, even though the special organization would be protecting Su Yu, Su Xing had been in a few fights himself. He knew that battles didn’t always go smoothly; things could go wrong. This made him a little worried.

Su Xing murmured to himself, "Maybe... I should follow them secretly."

His identity hadn’t been exposed yet.

If he wanted to follow them, he would need to pay close attention to Su Yu’s movements over the next few days.

Lost in thought, Su Xing picked up his most frequently used sword and began to practice, thrust by thrust. After a dozen or so thrusts, Su Yu and Shen Ruyun slowly emerged from the room. Seeing Su Xing, they both greeted him.

"Morning, Bro."

"Morning, Brother Su."

Su Xing lowered his sword and returned their greeting.

Then he went back to practicing on his own—one thrust, two thrusts, three thrusts. He only stopped when a new notification finally popped up on his system panel. Su Xing then lowered his sword and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

[Your professional skill "Thrust LV5" proficiency +1] 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

[Congratulations! Your professional skill "Thrust LV5" has been upgraded to "Thrust LV6"]

[Thrust LV6 (Perfected)]

Su Xing closed his eyes, and a massive amount of information flooded his mind.

The little figure in his mind’s eye began to practice thrusts once again. However, perhaps because the level of ’Thrust’ was now too low for the current Su Xing, the figure only took about ten days before stopping its movements. A deeper understanding of the ’Thrust’ technique trickled into Su Xing’s mind and muscle memory.

Through this upgrade, Su Xing gradually came to understand the developmental path of the ’Thrust’ technique.

He suddenly felt that his decision to upgrade ’Thrust’ to Tier 2 was definitely the right one. All he lacked now were a few Sword Dao Points. Su Xing took out his phone, glanced at the time, and murmured to himself:

’It’s almost time for class.’

Su Xing first went back to his room to bring his streaming equipment to the training hall.

He then turned on the equipment as usual, opened the online classroom, and waited for the students to enter one by one. Once everyone was present, he began the class.

Perhaps because he had something to look forward to, the classes today seemed to fly by. In the blink of an eye, it was time to say goodbye at the end of the last session. Su Xing stood before the camera as usual, sheathed his sword, and said:

"Class dismissed."

"Goodbye, Coach Su!"

[Sword Dao Points: 3]

Seeing the [Sword Dao Points] entry on his system panel change, Su Xing turned off the stream. He glanced at the setting sun, which was already casting a golden glow outside, then placed his sword on the rack without hesitation and headed for his room.

He was already looking forward to seeing what kind of sword skill ’Thrust’ would evolve into.

Once back in his room, Su Xing took out three boxes of cookies and placed them beside him, then sat cross-legged against the side of his bed.

Based on his experience, when upgrading a sword skill like ’Thrust,’ even with the supplement from ’Mortal Sword,’ his body wouldn’t suffer a deficit like it did when he first upgraded ’White Line Slash.’ Still, he would feel hungry, so it was never a bad idea to have some food ready.

He let out a breath.

Su Xing exhaled a warm breath and murmured, "I hope... my feeling wasn’t wrong."

The moment he finished speaking,

a light blue panel suddenly appeared in his vision.

[Sword Saint Professional System]

[Name: Su Xing]

[Age: 22]

[Profession: Swordsman, Sword Hall Coach]

[Professional Skills: White Line Slash LV1 (178/2000), Thrust LV6 (Perfected), Sword-Drawing Stance LV1 (12/2000), Mortal Sword LV1 (16/30000)]

[Sword Dao Points: 3]

Su Xing said calmly, "System, allocate points."

The [Sword Dao Points] entry instantly changed from 3 to 2. At the same time, a surge of power flowed into the professional skill ’Thrust.’

The black characters for ’Thrust’ immediately began to blur and distort, as if kneaded by a pair of invisible hands, eventually reforming into a new word.

[Congratulations! Your professional skill "Thrust LV6" has evolved into "Pierce LV1"]
