Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Ordinary Sword Lv. 1
"Die."
’So, it’s a threatening letter after all.’
The word "Die" on the letter was formed by tiny beads of blood. From time to time, they would slide down, leaving a jarring, bloody streak.
Su Xing muttered to himself, then casually crumpled it into a ball and stuffed it into his pocket. He didn’t even need to think to know this was definitely the work of those people from the Spiritual Sect who were eager to die.
’Since I’ve already found it,’
’there’s no need to let anyone else see it.’
’Otherwise, it would just be one more problem to deal with. Then I’d have to pretend to be scared in front of my brother and Shen Ruyun.’
’It’s just too much of a hassle.’
Of course, even more troublesome than faking fear was the Spiritual Sect, back to cause trouble again.
Su Xing had only enjoyed a few days of peace, and now the Spiritual Sect had shown up again. A flicker of anger ignited within him.
"Killing one after another... The Spiritual Sect, they’re really fucking asking to be killed."
Su Xing’s eyes narrowed slightly. His right hand, shoved in his pocket, gripped the ball of paper tightly. The blood from within began to seep out, staining his palm.
The icy words seemed to seep out from between his teeth, filled with a chilling intent.
Before long, he heard movement behind him, and his expression shifted from icy to calm.
With one hand in his pocket, he turned his head and saw the hall master run out of his room first, cursing under his breath. Su Yu and Shen Ruyun followed behind him.
When they saw Su Xing, they all asked what had just happened.
Su Xing just smiled and said with feigned helplessness, "I don’t know either. I guess some kid was just throwing rocks for fun. I ran out just now, but whoever it was had already vanished without a trace."
Hearing Su Xing’s explanation, Su Yu and Shen Ruyun both shrugged, chatted with him for a moment, and then went back to their rooms.
Only the hall master, upset that his Sword Hall’s window was broken and that he’d have to pay for repairs, remained. He paced back and forth several times over the shattered glass, complaining to Su Xing for a good while before finally going back.
After everyone had left,
Su Xing finally pulled out the hand he had kept in his pocket. It was now covered in blood that had seeped from the letter, and it gave off a foul, coppery smell.
Su Xing walked a few steps to the small restroom at the edge of the training hall, turned on the faucet, and listened to the rushing water as he slowly washed the blood from his hand.
’The members of the Spiritual Sect who’ve come this time...’
’are definitely stronger than Lou Zhen was.’
’They might be the strongest among the Tier Two Sequencers, or maybe even a Tier Three Sequencer.’ Thinking this, Su Xing silently glanced at his fifteen Sword Dao Points and murmured to himself:
’If you’ve got the guts, then come and get me.’
After washing his hands, Su Xing shook them five times as usual, then wiped them lightly with a paper towel before heading toward his room.
Under the bright white light, Su Xing leaned quietly against his bed, the pale blue system panel floating before his eyes.
Su Xing took a deep breath, his gaze fixed on the [Sword Breath] skill in the professional skills column. He placed his right hand lightly on his chest and could feel his heart beating strong and fast, as if it too was excited for the coming upgrade.
"Huuuh."
Su Xing slowly let out a warm breath. "I hope this won’t disappoint me."
As soon as he spoke, a confirmation window popped up on the system panel.
[Sword Saint Profession System]
[Sword Dao Points: 15]
[Distribute all points to [Sword Breath]? Yes/No?]
"Yes."
Su Xing didn’t hesitate for a moment.
This was a choice he had made long ago.
The [Sword Dao Points] on the system panel instantly emptied. At the same time, [Sword Breath] began to convulse like never before, becoming shrouded in a distorted black mist that obscured its appearance.
After an unknown amount of time,
the black mist finally dissipated, revealing a brand-new skill name: [Mortal Sword Lv. 1].
Su Xing quickly glanced at the two words "Mortal Sword."
He was already well-acquainted with the process of breaking through, so he didn’t relax in the slightest. Instead, he gritted his teeth and braced himself for the pain to come.
’The greater the upgrade, the greater the pain.’
’The agony of raising it five levels at once will definitely be intense!’
Su Xing clenched his jaw, a ferocious look in his eyes.
He felt an unimaginable pain emanating from every cell and every inch of his skin, as if his entire body was being forcibly stretched by a pair of massive, invisible hands. At the same time, a series of sharp cracking sounds erupted from his body.
Fortunately, the pain didn’t last long—only a second or two. Su Xing’s body returned to normal, and just as he thought the upgrade was over...
He suddenly saw the small figure in his mind clutch its stomach, fall to the ground, and start rolling left and right in agony. Simultaneously, an extreme pain erupted from Su Xing’s own abdomen—his Dantian.
Su Xing gritted his teeth, forcing himself to endure the intense pain as he shakily stood up. He felt something in his Dantian begin to grow wildly. This violent growth made his body react like a volcano on the verge of eruption.
The longsword located in Su Xing’s Dantian was the source of this agony. It grew at an unimaginable speed, as if it were being molded from clay. In the blink of an eye, the Qi sword that had been only a hilt transformed into a true longsword.
The sword was half a man’s height and pitch-black, with a simple, heavy-looking design that faintly glinted with a cold light. The moment the sword finished forming, Su Xing felt all the pain in his body vanish instantly.
Su Xing slowly opened his eyes.
The world he saw had changed slightly, though the change was hard to describe.
If he had to put it into words, the air conditioner seemed to be running slower than before, and the chirping of cicadas and croaking of frogs outside sounded clearer and more drawn-out. These subtle changes felt a little... unsettling.
Besides all that,
the most obvious change was an overwhelming urge... a desire from the longsword within him, which seemed desperate to reveal itself in the real world.
Su Xing suppressed this urge and quickly left the Sword Hall. He needed to find a deserted place before summoning the longsword. He had a hunch that if he summoned it inside the Sword Hall, a single swing might be enough to demolish his entire room.
Soon,
Su Xing arrived at a deserted hill.
He made a grasping motion with his right hand, and a pitch-black longsword suddenly appeared in his grasp. Then, with a fierce slash—
BOOM!!
The terrifying force sliced through the air. Amidst the frightening roar, a transparent, visible ripple suddenly spread out, only to quickly vanish.
Su Xing stared at the result of this strike in astonishment. He knew full well... he hadn’t used any sword techniques. That was just a simple, basic slash. He couldn’t help but exclaim in amazement:
"Such terrifying power."
