Chapter 484: Chapter 484: Please Accompany the Coach
"Acting all indifferent, huh? Just wait, you’ll regret this one day!"
Lu Yujing gritted her teeth furiously, allowing a dark thought to slowly take shape in her mind. After turning away, instead of returning to her tent, she changed directions and headed toward the camp reserved for the program crew...
The next morning.
After breakfast, the production team gathered the guests together to kick off the day’s activities.
The first stop was the Desert 100-Meter Observation Capsule—a massive open-air circular container. Guests would walk onto the capsule from the ground level, which would then rotate steadily as it ascended into the sky, rising to a height of 100 meters. From there, they could enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the desert, providing an unparalleled bird’s-eye perspective.
Once inside the capsule, everyone felt a bit anxious. The sensation of slowly ascending into the air was novel and peculiar. Some guests with a fear of heights began feeling weak in the knees halfway up and moved closer to the inner side, avoiding eye contact with the ground.
Sang Ning stayed at the edge of the capsule, gazing down at the ground and savoring the sensation of ascending.
Li Juezhou, worried she might be afraid of heights, extended a hand to shield her eyes and softly said, "Sangsang, if you’re scared, don’t look for now. You can wait until we reach the top and look off into the distance instead."
Sang Ning gently swatted his hand away. "I’m not at the point where I’d avoid looking."
"Oh, my, someone’s acting all high and mighty now," Wei Lan teased from nearby. She grabbed Li Haidong’s hand and placed it in front of her own eyes. "You old folks—aging and regressing mentally—don’t even know how to protect me by shielding my eyes. Look at these young people."
"Alright, your parents are watching. Don’t embarrass yourself," Sang Ning leaned closer to Li Juezhou and whispered under her breath.
Li Juezhou sneakily took Sang Ning’s hand, gave it a squeeze, and smiled. "What’s wrong with us youngsters falling in love?"
Sang Ning pinched him in return, her teeth gritted, "Why didn’t I notice how shameless you are earlier?"
Li Juezhou chuckled silently, tightening his grasp on Sang Ning’s hand instead.
Just then, an ill-timed "ah!" interrupted the moment.
On the opposite side of the capsule, Lu Yujing suddenly clutched her head, staggered forward, and swayed noticeably. "What’s wrong? I feel so dizzy, like I might puke."
Her steps faltered—first to the left, then to the right. Seeing this, the staff immediately stepped forward to check on her. "Mr. Lu, are you alright? If you’re feeling unwell, let me notify the team for arrangements so you can descend and rest."
"Oh no, don’t bother, please. I don’t want my condition ruining everyone’s fun," Lu Yujing replied with a considerate air. "I’ll just take a break while leaning here."
The staff, concerned, tried to help her balance, but right then, she suddenly toppled to the side—straight toward Li Juezhou. "Ahh, I can’t, I feel too unsteady."
Lu Yujing intentionally made her move. She figured no one would stand idly by while someone was about to fall. Surely, Li Juezhou would catch her.
Except, as she neared the ground, Li Juezhou sidestepped with ease, letting her fall to the floor.
Committed to acting the part, Lu Yujing refused to let anyone suspect it was intentional. This time, with no one to help and her balance completely gone, she couldn’t regain stability fast enough and was forced to fall hard onto the ground.
The moment she hit the floor, one of the staff turned his head away dramatically, covering his face. He had truly tried to help—but he just couldn’t manage to grab her in time.
Covered in dust, Lu Yujing felt her dignity crumble and her humiliation overflow. Li Juezhou’s voice carried over with a deliberate sarcasm: "Poor balance—likely a developmental issue with the cerebellar nerves. Might be a good idea to get an MRI at the hospital."
Lu Yujing couldn’t lift her head out of sheer embarrassment.
Wei Lan glared at Li Juezhou. "A young lady has fallen—why are you still making snarky remarks?"
Sang Ning walked forward, knelt down, and extended a hand to Lu Yujing. "Are you alright?"
Lu Yujing’s inner dissatisfaction flared. What’s with Sang Ning pretending to be a good person? She slapped Sang Ning’s hand away immediately. "I don’t need your help. I can do it myself!"
She scrambled to her feet, patted the dust off her clothes, and shot an aggrieved look at both Sang Ning and Li Juezhou before storming off to the other side.
The staff, baffled, scratched his head. "She seems fine to me—doesn’t look like someone who’s dizzy?"
"Who knows?" Sang Ning smirked. "Maybe this tumble fixed her cerebellum and restored her balance."
Song Shiye overheard Sang Ning’s comment. Though unsure why she spoke so sharply about Lu Yujing, he knew Sang Ning was not usually one to target others. Coupled with Li Juezhou’s previous biting remark, he shook his head in mock despair, sighing dramatically, "They say spending too much time with someone rubs off on you. Sister Sangsang, I think you’ve started inheriting his toxicity."
Sang Ning and Li Juezhou exchanged blank, nonchalant looks, devoid of emotion. Yet Song Shiye felt as if scolded by elders. The invisible pressure made him shut up obediently, though his mind buzzed with complaints: Just look at that! Falling for someone really changes you—Sister Sangsang doesn’t even feel like the same person anymore. Wah wah wah.
Once the capsule reached 100 meters, the crew allotted ample sightseeing time before organizing a group photo in various poses as outlined. With the photo session complete, the capsule visit officially concluded.
Back on the ground, a caravan of camels awaited to take the group to their next destination. These were a special touch from the production team.
Riding the camels for about ten minutes, they arrived at their next activity spot.
At the edge of a rolling sand valley sat four dune buggies lined up side by side. The PD guided everyone over and addressed them: "Any guest who doesn’t know how to drive, please raise your hand."
No one moved, except for Song Shiye, who weakly raised his hand. Qin Feng stared at him, shocked. "No way—you don’t know how to drive?"
Feeling a bit sheepish for being the only one lacking this skill, Song Shiye defended himself with conviction. "You can’t learn to drive until you’re eighteen. I just turned eighteen recently. Isn’t it normal not to know how yet?"
The PD chuckled and responded, "Then we’ll have to trouble Mr. Song to figure out a solution and team up with a driving partner. For this next experience, we’re pairing up to drive the dune buggies ourselves—enjoying speed and thrills in the desert."
At the mention of finding a pair, Song Shiye’s eyes naturally turned to Sang Ning. But Li Juezhou stepped in front of Sang Ning, throwing him a *don’t even think about it* look. He then said to the PD, "If it’s too difficult, just assign a separate buggy for the kid and hire an instructor to guide him."
