Chapter 471: Chapter 471: Reincarnation End

The guests held their respective ice sculptures and took a group photo together under the Ferris wheel.

In the photo, everyone had beaming smiles on their faces, but only Lu Yujing knew that behind her smile was a jaw clenched so tightly it was nearly grinding.

After the photo, Jiang Xiaoti suggested, "Since these ice sculptures will melt once they leave Bing City and we can’t take them with us, why don’t we find a suitable spot in the amusement park and display them together?"

Everyone agreed with Jiang Xiaoti’s proposal. Before getting on the Ferris wheel, they found a rarely visited corner, lined up all the handcrafted ice sculptures neatly, took a family portrait for the sculptures, and then left.

The production team had booked the entire Ferris wheel, so there was more than enough room for each guest to sit in their own cabin. However, given the ceremonial atmosphere of watching fireworks, everyone hoped for company.

Li Haidong and Wei Lan, the married couple, entered the first cabin. Sang Ning, Jiang Xiaoti, and Lu Yujing were assigned to the second cabin.

Sang Ning was the first to step into the cabin. Lu Yujing and Jiang Xiaoti were just about to follow when Song Shiye swiftly cut ahead and climbed in.

"How can you be so shameless? The program team already arranged the seating!" Jiang Xiaoti voiced her dissatisfaction with Song Shiye for cutting in line.

Song Shiye smirked mischievously and winked at Jiang Xiaoti, "Don’t forget, I’m the King today, and I have the right to ask you to do anything. Besides, the game reward earlier stated that I should watch the fireworks show with Sister Sangsang in the Ferris wheel. So, I’ll trouble you and Sister Jing to take the next cabin."

The Ferris wheel was already moving at an ultra-slow speed, and the cabin with Sang Ning was about to lift off. Song Shiye quickly waved at Jiang Xiaoti and Lu Yujing, his grin playful, "Thanks, you two lovely sisters~"

"This kid, goodness!" Jiang Xiaoti stomped her foot helplessly. When the next cabin arrived, she grabbed Lu Yujing and said, "Yujing, let’s just share this cabin together."

The two climbed into the cabin. Qin Feng, seeing that out of the seven guests, only he was left alone, didn’t wait for an invitation and scrambled into the cabin before it left the ground. "Wait, you almost left me behind!"

Though Qin Feng intruded shamelessly, once inside, he felt awkward sharing a cabin with two women. Instead, he stood leaning against the window, gazing outside. When their cabin was nearing the highest point of the Ferris wheel, the distant night sky erupted with a burst of sound, followed by colorful fireworks of varying shapes filling the sky.

Even though this wasn’t his first fireworks show, Qin Feng couldn’t help but exclaim, "Tonight’s fireworks are truly stunning! Even at this distance, the view is completely unaffected."

Jiang Xiaoti pressed both her palms against the glass, mesmerized as she stared at the fireworks outside. She couldn’t help but sigh, "They really are gorgeous!"

Though in the same cabin, Lu Yujing lacked enthusiasm for the fireworks. She merely glanced outside casually and then offhandedly asked, "What do you think would happen if this Ferris wheel suddenly fell right now?"

The two, engrossed in watching the fireworks, froze upon hearing her words. They turned to look at Lu Yujing with faces full of incredulity, as if they had seen a ghost.

A chill climbed up Jiang Xiaoti’s back unexpectedly. "Yujing, could you not say such horrifying things at such a happy moment? You’re giving me the creeps."

Lu Yujing flashed an apologetic smile. "Sorry, my bad. I’m overthinking. You guys go ahead and enjoy; don’t let my words spoil the mood."

Though Jiang Xiaoti showed no outward reaction, she felt increasingly displeased inside.

Seriously, if you’re aware it’s a buzzkill, don’t say it! My good mood has already been ruined!

Lu Yujing turned her gaze away and looked out the other window—the direction of Sang Ning and Song Shiye’s cabin. The two seemed to be chatting and laughing about something.

Lu Yujing’s eyes dimmed. If the Ferris wheel did fall right now, Sang Ning would definitely end up dead, wouldn’t she?

But it was just a fleeting thought. If Sang Ning died, she wouldn’t survive either. Better to stay safe and let the Ferris wheel bring everyone safely back to the ground.

In the cabin ahead, Sang Ning and Song Shiye sat across from each other. The fireworks show had already begun, but neither seemed even slightly interested in watching.

The production team hadn’t assigned any photographers to follow or placed any live-stream cameras, granting them a rare opportunity for a private conversation.

Sang Ning didn’t beat around the bush. After organizing her thoughts, she shared the question weighing on her mind with Song Shiye: "Xiao Ye, a few days ago, I had an incredibly vivid dream. In my dream, we were wearing uniforms from the same school, and you were being bullied. I even stood up for you. But in reality, before recording Wilderness, we’ve never had any contact. Have you ever had a similar dream?"

After Sang Ning finished speaking, an unmistakable glimmer of excitement flashed in Song Shiye’s eyes. His voice grew a little agitated as he said, "Sangsang, do you believe me? That wasn’t a dream—it was real. You truly were in my life during middle school."

Sang Ning countered, "But how can you be sure it was me, and not someone who just looks like me?"

"I recognized you the first day of the Wilderness recording. Whether it was back then or now, your habit of rubbing your fingers when you’re thinking hasn’t changed one bit. If there’s any major difference, it’s that you’ve forgotten me." Song Shiye, being young, was more open to the idea of mysterious phenomena. He explained further, "At first, I thought you were the older girl from middle school who stood up for me and wanted to thank you for what you did. But after learning about your current identity, I understood you weren’t that girl anymore. Still, the feeling you give me is exactly the same, so I started imagining—could you be a time traveler? I worried that if I spoke this secret out loud, you might disappear. That’s why I didn’t explain it outright. But what you just said confirmed to me that you truly are her!"

Sang Ning’s heart skipped a beat: Song Shiye’s theory was certainly bold. Yet, she wasn’t about to tell him that she had transmigrated into this story. If he found out he was merely a small, insignificant supporting character in a book, it would be an unbearable reality for him.

"Then can you tell me when you lost contact with that older girl?"

Song Shiye sank into thought, recalling slowly, "On the day of the high school entrance exam, as soon as I left the test center, I ran straight to your house, wanting to thank you face-to-face. Thanks to your protection, those troublemakers didn’t bother me again, and I was able to complete middle school smoothly.

But when I got to your house, you weren’t there. Since you’d mentioned you were an orphan with financial support from relatives who didn’t care for you, I thought you’d be living alone in the old house left behind by your late grandmother. So, I decided to wait outside for you until you came back.

I waited until midnight, but you never showed up. A neighbor lady scolded me, calling me ridiculous, saying nobody lived there, and wondered why I was loitering around the place. I didn’t believe her. For the first time in my life, I acted rebelliously and climbed in through the window. Inside, the place was covered in a thick layer of dust—completely uninhabited.

Underneath the old desk, I found a perfectly clean piece of paper with the words ’Reincarnation End’ written on it. I knocked on every door in the building, but no one knew who you were! Later, I managed to get in touch with classmates from your grade, but they didn’t know you either. It was as if you had vanished into thin air."
