Chapter 460: Chapter 460: Extra Addition of Enchanting Effect
"Xiao Song, you can’t cheat like this. Isn’t it clearly bullying us older folks?" Li Haidong protested, feeling indignant. The previous rounds of the game had already drained much of his stamina, and while he could still hold on for a bit longer, there was no way someone his age could compete with a youngster like Song Shiye.
"Uncle Hai, my apologies, but in the arena of games, age doesn’t matter. Please forgive me." Song Shiye clasped his hands together in mock respect, slightly bowing to Li Haidong before turning his gaze toward the PD. "Excuse me, does the show approve my game request?"
The PD slightly turned his body, exchanged a few silent glances with the director for a few seconds, and then raised his right hand toward Song Shiye: "Approved!"
With approval granted, Song Shiye immediately entered "game mode," grabbed onto the rope tightly, and turned around to remind Sang Ning: "Sangsang Sister, sit tight! I’m about to take off!"
Sang Ning gripped her inflatable hammer tightly and solemnly nodded to Song Shiye: "Got it."
On the other side, Li Haidong wasn’t about to back down. He pulled his sled toward a direction away from Sang Ning, attempting to circle around and let Jiang Xiaoti ambush Sang Ning from behind.
Song Shiye noticed Li Haidong’s intentions and followed him in circling around.
After chasing each other like this for four or five circles, both of them seemed exhausted and stopped.
"Xiao Song, I’m old. Can’t you show me some mercy?" Li Haidong rested his hands on his knees, breathing heavily.
Though Song Shiye wasn’t panting as visibly as Li Haidong, his voice still shook noticeably as he spoke: "Uncle, I’m young. Can’t you show me some mercy?"
Negotiations failed—neither was willing to yield to the other.
Song Shiye crouched down with his hands on his knees as well, planning to rest before resuming the battle.
Just as his knees bent slightly, Li Haidong suddenly let out an unexpected yell: "Xiao Jiang! Now’s your chance!"
Song Shiye looked up in shock and saw Li Haidong, veins bulging on his forehead, baring his teeth and running forward with a fierce expression. Behind him, Jiang Xiaoti had already lifted her oversized inflatable hammer.
"Watch out!" Sang Ning reacted in just one second, raising her own inflatable hammer as well.
But Song Shiye was a beat too slow. When he finally moved, he pulled the sled sideways, completely exposing Sang Ning to Jiang Xiaoti’s attack range.
As Li Haidong shifted to make room, Jiang Xiaoti swung her hammer down aggressively: "Sorry in advance, Sister Ning!"
Sang Ning’s raised hammer and Jiang Xiaoti’s swing came almost simultaneously, but both of them were quick on their feet—before either attack landed, they ducked to avoid each other’s swings.
This round of attacks failed on both ends. When Jiang Xiaoti straightened up again, Sang Ning was still crouched and hadn’t stood up.
Perfect timing!
Jiang Xiaoti quickly raised her hammer, ready to strike just as Sang Ning began to rise.
Sang Ning stayed down for several seconds, almost as if deliberately pausing. Jiang Xiaoti didn’t give it much thought and swung her hammer the moment she saw signs of Sang Ning lifting her head.
"Ah!" Jiang Xiaoti, worried that her swing wouldn’t have enough force to knock the snowman off Sang Ning’s head, shouted loudly to pump herself up as she swung the hammer.
With a loud "thud," Jiang Xiaoti’s hammer landed solidly—but instead of Sang Ning’s snowman, it slammed down on Song Shiye’s head.
Startled, Jiang Xiaoti backed up a few steps, her inflatable hammer wobbling as it dropped to the ground, ending her chance for another attack.
At that moment, an arc of motion emerged from behind Song Shiye’s head—it was Sang Ning raising her inflatable hammer and swinging it straight at Jiang Xiaoti.
"Ahhh!" Jiang Xiaoti let out a sudden scream, and the snowman tied to her head toppled off at the same time.
A rapid jingle rang out, quickly followed by the announcer’s voice: "Congratulations to Sang Ning’s team for winning the final victory!"
With the game results declared, Jiang Xiaoti, still in shock, finally covered her head and glared at Song Shiye with wide eyes: "You guys cheated!"
Song Shiye stuck out his tongue, his face showing little remorse as he replied: "Better luck next time!"
Under Jiang Xiaoti’s regretful and aggrieved gaze, Song Shiye untied the ropes from himself, high-fived the now-standing Sang Ning, and declared proudly, "Sangsang Sister, see! You have to play games with me—we’re unbeatable with our perfect teamwork!"
"You two really are a scheming pair from the same variety show. No one can outwit you!" Qin Feng, irritated by his team’s loss, couldn’t help throwing in some mocking remarks.
Song Shiye, rather than being offended, swayed his head smugly and retorted: "I’ll just take that as you being jealous of Sangsang Sister and my brilliance."
Sang Ning left the sled and approached Lu Yujing, who was resting on a small stool. Seeing Sang Ning coming over, Lu Yujing immediately stood up with a bright smile: "Ningbao, that’s amazing—you won!"
Sang Ning’s gaze lowered slightly, landing on Lu Yujing’s seat, her tone meaningful: "Couldn’t let your sacrifice go to waste."
Lu Yujing accepted Sang Ning’s inflatable hammer, her smile brimming with joy: "As long as Ningbao gets first place, I’m happy."
Lu Yujing’s glistening eyes and her gaze toward Sang Ning made her seem like an ultimate fangirl.
Sang Ning froze under the intensity of Lu Yujing’s look, suddenly feeling as though Lu Yujing resembled a soft and cuddly kitten. Without thinking, she raised her hand and gently patted Lu Yujing’s head as if stroking a kitten.
"Ningbao, what are you doing?" Lu Yujing muttered softly.
Startled, Sang Ning jerked her hand back like she’d touched an electric current. Only then did she realize how outlandish her actions had been—and how much she’d wanted to grow closer and be real friends with Lu Yujing.
"Not much. You sacrificed your rear for the win, so you totally deserve a share of the reward. You and Xiao Ye can enjoy it together." Sang Ning said, pretending to be casual about it.
At that moment, PD announced the game’s prize: "Congratulations to the winning team! You have earned the first round of an immersive fireworks viewing experience. Snow Village’s newly built giant Ferris wheel will debut tonight, and the winning team will ride it to watch the first-ever fireworks show from the top."
"Wow, I love this reward!" Song Shiye exclaimed, unable to hide his excitement, covering his mouth with his hands as his joy bubbled over.
Sang Ning asked, "Can I give my share of the reward to Lu Yujing? After all, she literally took a fall for the team during the game. She deserves some comfort."
Song Shiye’s grin quickly disappeared. This romantic opportunity would lose all meaning if she wasn’t spending it with him.
"No, no, no, Ningbao—it’s better if you and Xiao Song go together. I have a severe fear of heights; once I get up there, I might not make it down." Lu Yujing waved her hand in refusal.
"Oh? If that’s the case, then I guess it’s settled." Song Shiye flashed a look of regret. "Sangsang Sister, let’s let Sister Lu rest then—she’s had enough hardship already."
Sang Ning paused briefly before nodding in agreement: "Alright then."
Lu Yujing silently sighed in relief. There was no way she wanted to be stuck with Song Shiye, that silly guy—not to mention her actual fear of heights.
"Congratulations, Host! Your performance-enhancing skill has gained an additional ’Enchanting Effect’!"
