Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Confirmation
Cecil knew full well that it wasn’t that Lady Daina hadn’t heard him clearly; she simply couldn’t believe it. Of course, he didn’t mind saying it again.
So, he repeated his earlier words with a serious yet nonchalant air. Lady Daina suddenly burst out, "When did this happen? You actually waited until after the children were born to tell me! Why don’t you just wait until I’m dead to tell me next time? When were these two children of yours bred!"
Hearing Lady Daina’s familiar tirade, Cecil rubbed his nose and chuckled. "They weren’t bred. It was a natural conception. You must have heard the news that’s been all over the internet recently, right?"
"Natural conception? Duke Lu Xia can conceive naturally?" Of course, Lady Daina had heard the news online. After all, it was the talk of the town that No. 3 Courtyard had a successful case of natural conception in a female.
But she had never considered the possibility that Duke Lu Xia could be the one to conceive naturally, assuming it was merely the result of recent research.
But now, Cecil was telling her that Duke Lu Xia had naturally conceived and given birth to two children.
Even though Lady Daina prided herself on her composure and wouldn’t normally shout, she was completely flustered now, her voice cracking as she spoke.
It was clear how shocked she was.
However, before her shock could even subside, Cecil, as if things weren’t exciting enough, added, "In fact, Little Pu Tao and Little Xiangxiang were also naturally conceived by Lu Xia. It’s nothing to be surprised about."
The line on Lady Daina’s end suddenly went silent. Cecil waited for a long time without a response and thought the signal had been lost. "Mother, are you still there?" he asked hurriedly.
"I’m here. You haven’t shocked me to death yet. Don’t worry, I can take it. Is Duke Lu Xia resting now? Would it be a bad time to disturb her?"
"Yes. Lu Xia said that if you want to come over, you can come anytime. There’s no need to stand on ceremony."
"Then I’m heading over now. By the way, do Duke Leslie and Lady Rafaelde know what you just told me?"
"Hmm, they probably don’t. After all, it was a secret that couldn’t be revealed before. I imagine Graces and Smelian haven’t told their mothers about it either."
"I understand. See you in a bit." ’She couldn’t be the only one to get this shock. She’d only feel balanced if everyone went through it together.’
And so, Lady Daina invited Duke Leslie and Lady Rafaelde to accompany her to Duke Lu Xia’s Mansion to see her male grandsons.
On the way, Lady Daina didn’t mention a single word about natural conception. She wanted to see their reactions firsthand when they found out. It was bound to be spectacular.
With this in mind, Lady Daina eagerly awaited the scene that was about to unfold.
By the time they arrived at Duke Lu Xia’s Mansion, Lu Xia had just finished her dinner.
She was a little surprised to learn that Lady Daina had invited Duke Leslie and Lady Rafaelde along, but she didn’t say much, simply having Cecil receive them.
Cecil first took them to see his two male children.
The two chubby little boys were sound asleep, sucking on their fingers.
The moment Lady Daina saw them, her heart melted.
Duke Leslie stood to the side, smiling. "These two little males look exactly alike. They’re so beautiful."
"Aren’t they? I really look forward to seeing what they’ll be like when they grow up," Lady Rafaelde added, also smiling.
Fortunately, they now had male and female grandchildren of their own; otherwise, they would have been overcome with envy.
"Speaking of which, when were they bred this time?" Duke Leslie asked, taking the initiative. She hadn’t expected that Cecil would have quietly become a Male Father as well.
Lady Daina had just been wondering how to steer the conversation in this direction, and now Duke Leslie had brought it up herself.
It was the perfect opening she’d been waiting for.
"These aren’t children from a Breeding Box. Haven’t you two been reading the news online lately? This is the result of Xiaxia’s natural conception. Oh, and by the way, your Little Pu Tao and your Little Xiangxiang were also born through natural conception, not from a Breeding Box. Don’t get it wrong again."
Lady Daina said it all in one breath, her expression utterly calm, as if this were no big deal to her at all.
Cecil, standing to the side, glanced at his mother and couldn’t help but think, ’Aren’t those all my lines?’
Lady Daina’s words stunned the two women, who had just been happy for someone else.
"What did you say? Natural conception?" Duke Leslie looked completely incredulous.
Lady Rafaelde’s eyes went wide. She didn’t say a word, but her thoughts were written all over her face.
"That’s right. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Graces and Smelian. It’s the truth."
After exchanging a glance, Duke Leslie and Lady Rafaelde moved in unison, heading outside. They were clearly going to contact their respective sons.
Once they were gone, Cecil walked over. "Mother, would you like to see Lu Xia now? She should still be awake."
"Yes, let’s go now." Although she was reluctant to leave her two little male grandsons, she knew there would be plenty of time with them later; she could tear herself away for now.
The first thing Duke Leslie did after stepping outside was contact Graces. She hadn’t contacted him recently, knowing he was busy, but for a matter like this, she had to get a clear answer.
And so, Graces, who had just finished a meeting, received a voice call from Duke Leslie. As soon as he accepted, he heard her get straight to the point: "Let me ask you—was Little Pu Tao born from Xiaxia’s natural conception, not from a Breeding Box?"
The moment Graces heard this, he knew the recent news must have prompted Lu Xia to stop hiding the truth. "Yes, he was naturally conceived. But that doesn’t make a difference. He is Xiaxia’s child, and it’s all the same to me."
"The same, my ass! You think I don’t know that males born from natural conception have a 100% gene fusion degree from birth? You’re really good at keeping secrets! I almost had a heart attack when I heard Lady Daina mention it just now. I can’t believe he was naturally conceived! Oh my god, I knew there was something different about Little Pu Tao! Haha, no wonder, no wonder!"
At this point, Duke Leslie was so overjoyed she didn’t know how to express herself and was becoming somewhat incoherent.
A soft light appeared in Graces’s eyes. "If you’re happy, Mother, then you should be thanking Xiaxia. We wouldn’t have any of this without her."
"Do you even need to tell me that? Alright, go back to your work. I’m going to see my Little Pu Tao, and then I’ll go see Xiaxia." Without waiting to see if Graces had anything else to say, she cut off the voice communication.
When Graces turned off his terminal, he looked up and met the concerned gaze of his adjutant. "Is something wrong?"
"It’s good news." Graces curved his lips into a smile, placing a hand on his adjutant’s shoulder and patting it gently. He was clearly in an excellent mood.
