Everyone in the meeting room stared at Lu Xia, their eyes filled with shock and longing. How could they not understand the meaning behind his words? And even if they didn’t, couldn’t they see the proof with their own eyes?
Duke Lu Xia had already given birth to two children through natural conception, and now he was pregnant with twins.
In other words, not only had the research yielded results, but the results were outstanding.
But what they all thought of at this moment was that Duke Lu Xia was already on his third pregnancy. That meant he had been able to conceive naturally successfully for two years now.
And in those two years, those fools at the Fertility Research Institute hadn’t heard a single whisper about it. So what was the point of the research funds they handed over to the Fertility Research Institute every year?
After speaking, Lu Xia fell silent for a moment, his gaze sweeping across everyone’s faces. Then he continued, "Since you all understand, for those who wish to remain here and participate in the research, what just happened cannot happen again. Can you do that? If you feel you can’t, you may leave now. We won’t force anyone to stay."
Sure enough, Duke Lu Xia had suddenly appeared because of the fight earlier.
At that, the two females who had been publicly tearing at each other looked embarrassed.
"We won’t do it again," one of the females spoke up.
The other nodded. "It was my fault this time. I won’t cut in line again."
Seeing that they had both recognized their mistake, Lu Xia nodded. "Alright, then we’ll let this matter drop. As for what I’ve told you today, just keep it to yourselves for now. Don’t speak of it to anyone. It won’t be too late to share once you have results of your own."
Hearing Duke Lu Xia’s reminder, which seemed to imply that they too could one day conceive naturally, they all showed faint expressions of excitement.
After saying this, Lu Xia turned to Doctor Eugene, who was standing to the side. "In the future, when you’re doing physical examinations and similar procedures for them, give them numbered tickets. Have them come in for their check-ups according to their number."
Doctor Eugene thought this was an excellent suggestion. That way, all he would have to do was call out the numbers.
When Duke Lu Xia came out of the meeting room, the females had all become obedient.
Lu Xia could see what was going on. These females knew exactly what they were doing. They knew to avoid provoking those stronger than them and to bully those who were weaker.
It really left him speechless.
However, Lu Xia didn’t have the energy to change them. He only needed them to remain calm and not cause him any trouble during their participation in the study.
Just as Lu Xia stepped out of the meeting room, he saw Little Pu Tao run in from outside, holding a flower. "Mother, this is for you! Cecil’s father and I picked it together. It’s the biggest, most beautiful flower in the garden!"
Lu Xia smiled and reached out to take it. "Thank you, I love it!"
Hearing Lu Xia say that, Little Pu Tao happily hugged his leg.
Just then, the others from the meeting room began to file out and saw the scene.
When their gazes fell on Little Pu Tao, they all subconsciously thought, ’So this is a cub born from natural conception. He really does look much cuter than one from a Breeding Box.’
If Lu Xia knew they were making such a comparison, he wouldn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
But they were right about one thing: Little Pu Tao was indeed very cute.
Suddenly seeing so many people, Little Pu Tao grew a little nervous. Cecil came over and picked him up. The boy obediently wrapped his arms around Cecil’s neck and turned his face away. ’Why are these people looking at me so strangely?’ he wondered.
Lu Xia reached out and patted Little Pu Tao’s head. "Do you still want to play here? If not, we can go home."
"Let’s go home, Mother." After speaking, Little Pu Tao secretly glanced at the crowd before quickly looking away. ’Let’s just go home.’
Sensing Little Pu Tao’s discomfort, Lu Xia didn’t say anything more. He knew that this was Little Pu Tao’s first time away from home, and seeing so many people at once would naturally be a bit overwhelming. He didn’t want to make things difficult for the child.
After saying goodbye to Eugene, he left No.2 Institute with Cecil and Little Pu Tao.
Instead of going straight home, however, they went to a small market near the No.2 Institute. It was a rare trip out, and Lu Xia wanted to create more memories for Little Pu Tao.
The night market was bustling. Lu Xia was bundled up in his coat, and if it weren’t for people constantly staring at his belly, his condition wouldn’t be obvious. So, he wasn’t worried about being discovered.
After all, the news about natural conception hadn’t been exposed yet. The public firmly believed it was impossible, so no one’s thoughts would even go in that direction.
He felt no psychological burden coming out for a stroll.
To make it easier for Little Pu Tao to see the things at the market, Cecil placed him on his shoulders, letting the boy hold onto his head.
Little Pu Tao loved the feeling of being held up so high.
Whenever he saw something shiny, Lu Xia would buy it for him to enrich his treasure box.
On their way back, Little Pu Tao also bought a doll for Little Xiangxiang, which he picked out himself.
Even though Little Xiangxiang was still too young to be aware of dolls, Little Pu Tao never forgot his little sister, always thinking of bringing her a gift wherever he went.
This wasn’t something Lu Xia had taught him; Little Pu Tao seemed to be a natural-born big brother.
Lu Xia had never praised him for this, though. He didn’t care if Little Pu Tao was a good big brother or if he could take good care of his younger siblings. All he needed was for Little Pu Tao to be happy.
People only get to live once; no one is born to be devoted to someone else.
But if this was something Little Pu Tao wanted to do of his own volition, he wouldn’t stand in his way too much.
Everything was centered on Little Pu Tao’s own wishes.
By the time they got home, it was already past 8:00 PM. Graces had been busy stabilizing the Federation’s political affairs lately, so he basically slept at his office during the week. He would only come back to stay for one night on the weekend before getting busy again the next day.
So, it had become normal for Graces to be away from home often during this period, and Lu Xia understood.
Besides Graces, the second busiest had to be Smelian.
His hospital had recently received many patients from different star systems, forcing him to work overtime lately.
Some of these patients had come to the Imperial Star to receive injections of the gene fusion agent and, while they were at it, enjoy the professional medical care available here.
After all, they rarely traveled this far just for medical treatment under normal circumstances.
But now that they were here, they might as well get a physical check-up. If there were no issues, all the better. If there were, they could receive treatment immediately.
