Chapter 195: Zombies and Outing.
1102 said, "We talked about Bai Li like that before. Is Bai Li really going to help us?" Ke Ning from Room 1104 replied, "You cannot let her work for free. If you want something, you have to pay."
Xie Yi from Room 2001 got shameless very quickly and tagged Bai Li directly. "@Bai Li, do you have any self heating hot pot? I will pay 3,000 for yours."
Gao Wenyuan immediately exploded. "@Xie Yi, are you out of your mind? Three thousand for a hot pot? How are we supposed to afford anything then?"
Xie Yi replied without any shame at all, "That is none of my business. You are poor, you cannot blame anyone else. @Bai Li, I do not have much else, but I have money. Bai Li, hehe, add me when you are free later, let us chat privately. Everything is negotiable. A higher price is fine too."
Then Ye Cheng from Room 2004 came in with another ridiculous message. "@Bai Li, bring me some food later too. I only want brand name stuff. I can pay, but do you dare take it? Little sister, do not say you have never heard of me. I am asking you for a favor and giving you face, so do not be ungrateful. It is chaos now, and if something happens to you and your girlfriend, the police probably will not care anymore, right?" The group was in complete uproar, and the funniest thing was that these exact same people had mocked Bai Li before, but now they were tagging her like she was some kind of delivery service.
Bai Li did not have time to care about any of that. After killing four zombies outside, she immediately turned and ran into the small supermarket, with Yan Cijin close behind her. The supermarket looked smaller than it had from outside, but at least it was enclosed and quiet compared to the street. That did not mean it was safe though. The second Bai Li and Yan Cijin entered, they found two zombies wandering around inside. The moment the zombies saw the two living people, they became excited, and Bai Li felt that same sharp rush of battle focus she always got whenever danger appeared in front of her. She turned her head slightly and told Yan Cijin, "Find something to block the supermarket door." Yan Cijin reacted right away. "Okay." She was quick too, not the kind of person who froze when things got real. She grabbed a mop from beside the counter, stuck the wooden handle into the middle of the two door handles so the doors could not open easily, and then moved a few chairs over to help block the entrance. Her movement was clean and efficient, and Bai Li noticed that without saying anything. It was the kind of practical thinking she liked. No panic, no useless shouting, just action.
Bai Li herself moved even faster. The female zombie rushed first, and she swung her knife with both hands, cutting it down before it could get too close. The male zombie tried to come in from the side and swung its arm toward Bai Li’s chest, but Bai Li stepped back smoothly, avoided the strike, and then chopped downward with both hands. The Tang sword flashed like lightning, and when it cut into the zombie’s spine, Bai Li only felt a little resistance before the zombie collapsed heavily onto the floor. She did not stop there. Bai Li was never the kind of person to relax too soon. She checked the entire supermarket carefully, room by room, including the restrooms and the changing room, making sure there were no more zombies hiding anywhere. Only after confirming that the place was clear did she finally let out a small breath and relax a little. Yan Cijin, who had been watching her the whole time, ran up immediately and asked, "How is it?" Bai Li answered, "It is safe now. I will go move those two zombies to the door." She grabbed the male zombie by the leg and dragged it over, then did the same with the female zombie. With those two bodies blocking the doorway, the smell of death could help hide the smell of the living inside, which was exactly what they needed. That was the kind of ugly practical detail that could save lives now.
"Alright, let us start moving things," Bai Li said to Yan Cijin. "Okay," Yan Cijin nodded without hesitation. The supermarket still had power, which meant the owner had probably died or fled before turning it off, and the freezers were still running. Bai Li looked into them and immediately felt relieved. Meatballs, shrimp paste, steak, frozen dumplings, glutinous rice balls, all of it was still intact. This was a very good find. She turned to Yan Cijin and asked, "What is missing from your house?" Yan Cijin thought for a moment and answered honestly, "Rice, flour, and oil are running low. Vegetables and meat are almost gone too, and so are soy sauce and other condiments." Bai Li nodded immediately. "Okay. Pack the lighter things in your bag. I will take the heavier ones. Go get the instant noodles and anything else you need. Take whatever you like." Then she already started heading toward the grain and oil section, because that was the most urgent part. The supermarket did not have a huge amount of rice and flour, but it had enough to matter. About a dozen bags of each, all packaged in ten jin bags, which meant they were not that bulky one by one. Bai Li did not waste time. With a simple thought, she stored all 22 bags of rice and flour into her spatial storage, and the shelf was emptied immediately. The space she had was only one square meter, but because it had height too, it could hold far more than people would expect. She added five cans of peanut oil and five cans of sunflower oil next.
