Chapter 319: Turning point (12)
In the end, it took three days for Rina, Shalia, and Nambra to wake up. In the meantime, Luke’s followers, his friends, and parents fought the hordes of remaining monsters almost nonstop. So, when they woke up, the others joined him in the flying fortress. After three days, he had completely healed from his wounds and broken bones. So, while everyone looked crappy, Luke seemed completely fine, which was weird given that they knew that he had fought so many overlords by himself. Usually, Luke would feel great after such a victory since he proved that he could do things by himself. Still, given the circumstances and the fact that he couldn’t protect his friends, it was clear why he didn’t feel happy.
"What happened, Luke?" Mark asked.
"We were taken out by an attack... but I don’t remember what," Rina said. "There were six other overlords... and their flying fortresses are there."
"They were just all talk and I defeated them easily," Luke said. "Putting that aside, this flying fortress improved a lot in the last few days, we can move to Earth now, if the necessity arises."

Now Luke was the one who needed a lesson about how to change topics more smoothly. Those who knew for a while knew that he was hiding something, but they didn’t know what yet... Regardless, it seemed that they had finished their mission in the dark elves’ world. So, the next step was probably to deal with Frank. However, it seemed that Luke had other plans.
"I will be moving around for a while here, can I leave your group to deal with some areas that still have many monsters?" Luke asked.
"I suppose this planet won’t become truly peaceful unless we do that... What are you going to do?" Mark asked.
"Nothing important, I will just finish some small loose ends," Luke said.
Again, pressing Luke for answers wouldn’t help at all, so Mark trusted that those three would watch him and prevent him from doing anything reckless. Aside from Rina and Shalia, those who worked with Luke for the longest knew that he seemed like a totally different person. No more jokes, no more goofing around... only a cold stare and direct words. In the past, Amanda wished that Luke had turned into a more of a serious person, but now she felt creeped out... That didn’t suit him at all. Luke could imagine what most people was thinking about his change of behavior, but he didn’t have time to worry about that.
"Where are we going exactly?" Rina asked.
"We will pay a visit to the other big settlements of survivors and instruct some of the dark elves that are on our side," Luke replied. "We will ask them if they want to join our side, if they don’t want to after we solve this problem for them, then we will warn them about what will happen if they cause us problems later."
"What will happen? Hypothetically speaking," Rina said.
"The dark elves will decide by themselves," Luke said.
There were many settlements that they didn’t visit yet, so it would take a while to travel through the whole continent. Still, it was a job that needed to be done.
Although the danger of the overlords wasn’t an immediate problem, the dark elves knew that they weren’t completely safe. Rumors about that massive crater had spread around throughout the whole continent. Thanks to that, some dark elves easily decided to become Luke’s followers. They were smart enough to realize that someone had made the massive number of monsters decrease. They knew that the dark elves following him were a lot stronger than them, and they wanted the same power. Some others, though, refused to work for him. Still, Luke didn’t mind that. He left some dark elves on those camps in order to put things on the right track and to deal with the troublemakers that might arise. It didn’t take long for that to happen, but it also didn’t take long for his underlings to solve the issue.
Thanks to noticing the difference in power, more dark elves began to swear allegiance to Luke, even when he wasn’t around. Still, that was fine. The orders that he gave to everyone still worked for them. In the end, it took a week for Luke to visit all the camps. Thanks to that, Luke realized that their numbers had decreased a lot more than Shalia had expected. The dark elves numbered no more than three million... It was a lot more than ordinary elves, but they tend to die faster due to their hot-blooded nature without a strict rules.
Once that was done, Luke realized that he had a stupid amount of gold coins to use, and he had to use them in a way that would increase his powers even more. Now that he helped Rina and Shalia to achieve their goals, he can focus on his own goals now. Creating an environment peaceful enough for his parents on Earth and then hunting all the other overlords that are invading planets.
Luke had to train Vampirism to increase his survivability like there was no tomorrow. That was the most basic thing he had to do, but he also looked for other skills books that would improve his parameters and skills. Fortunately, he found the right skills for that, even though they were even more expensive than the overlords’ skills. That being said, he had no real issue for the gold coins aside from the skills that he could get to strengthen himself. He had been pretty loose with money lately, so he didn’t hesitate at all. Hopefully, he won’t regret that.
