Chapter 583: Chapter 414: This Is a Fierce Beast (2)

The forest where the Polar Forest Tribe lived alongside wild beasts was vastly different from the deep forest inhabited by Fierce Beasts. The latter’s dark and treacherous atmosphere was the most obvious distinction.

The edges were overgrown with thorns. A thick layer of dead branches and leaves covered the ground, and beneath it lived many dangerous and venomous insects and snakes.

Even at high noon, the deep forest felt gloomy.

Although she knew that precious Crystal Cores were hunted in the deep forest, this was truly the Yan Yan Witch’s first time in this place.

The Scorpion Tribe Beastman leading the way had been here once before with the Worm Witch. But on that trip, they hadn’t understood the territorial boundaries of the Fierce Beasts within the deep forest. Of all the tribespeople who had entered, fewer than five made it out alive.

"Esteemed Messengers, the Fierce Beasts in this deep forest have clearly defined territories. If you aren’t familiar with them, it’s easy to get lost or even stumble into the lands of mid- to High-Rank Fierce Beasts.

We’ve heard that when the Four Great Tribes of the Polar Forest are Hunting Crystal Cores, they don’t come out at night. They hide in locations they’ve already scouted, places that only the Four Great Tribes know about."

The Messenger Beastman Captain had already leaped down from the back of the giant beast. He stared at the gloomy deep forest before him, his eyes dark and profound.

"Didn’t the Worm Witch say you went in last time?"

The Beastman Warrior from the Scorpion Tribe gave a bitter smile upon hearing this. "Last time, we didn’t know the layout of the Fierce Beast territories, so we walked right into the domain of a terrifying Fierce Beast. A few dozen of our Beastman Warriors went in, but fewer than five came out.

Those Fierce Beasts lived in a pack, and they could spit fire. Once it touched you, it was nearly impossible to extinguish, and you’d be burned alive."

As the Beastman spoke, his face turned pale. He remembered the horrific sight of his tribespeople dying miserably. Their blood-curdling screams seemed to nail his feet to the ground, making him utterly unwilling to step into the deep forest before him—a place that held the memory of countless desperate deaths.

But in the presence of the Super Tribe, his lingering fear counted for nothing.

"First, we’ll hunt for food. We go in tomorrow morning."

The Messenger Beastman Captain made the final decision.

The four Wizards didn’t say anything either. Since they couldn’t find any Beastmen from the Polar Forest’s Four Great Tribes, they would naturally have to enter the deep forest themselves.

But what the Beastmen and Wizards of the Super Tribe didn’t expect was that, in the dead of night while everyone was sound asleep, a blood-curdling scream suddenly pierced the air.

It instantly jolted everyone awake.

The Messenger Beastman Captain thrust the Yan Yan Witch from his arms, leaping to his feet and running toward the source of the scream.

He saw his Beastman Warriors fighting several creatures with scarlet eyes, jet-black, bristly fur, and bodies about the same size as the giant beasts he had been riding... boars?

They looked like boars, but their fur, scarlet eyes, and even their tusks—which were still dripping with blood—told him that these were definitely not the same breed as the boars they had hunted earlier.

If any Beastmen from the Four Great Tribes had been present, they would have immediately recognized them as Saber-toothed Pigs, the lowest rank of Fierce Beast.

But these people, of course, had no idea. They merely thought that the wild boars in the Polar Forest were all rather strange.

Smelling the increasingly rich scent of fresh blood and flesh in the air, the Saber-toothed Pig leader felt its saliva begin to flow uncontrollably.

"ROAR!"

After all, it was a low-rank Fierce Beast. With only a craving for flesh and blood on its mind, it cared for little else. It let out a roar and charged forward with its underlings.

The Beastman Warriors of the Super Tribe could now see the attacking ’boars’ clearly, and their tense nerves relaxed considerably.

They had heard the roars of a giant beast and thought they had encountered some powerful creature, but it turned out to be just a few unusual-looking boars.

Feeling no sense of crisis, they were happy to watch the show. The Messenger Beastman Captain waved a hand, and a few of the weakest Silver-rank Beastman Warriors in the group went up to meet the charge.

They thought it would be over in a flash, but to everyone’s surprise, these boars were completely different from any they had seen before. Their combat prowess was so formidable that the few Silver-rank Beastman Warriors couldn’t hold their ground.

"Captain, there’s something wrong with these boars!"

A Silver-rank Beastman was knocked back by a Saber-toothed Pig. His face pale, he let out a low growl, his voice laced with anxiety.

The other Beastman Warriors standing by the side naturally saw this as well. They immediately shed their spectator attitudes, and several Late-stage Silver-rank Beastman Warriors joined the fray. It still took a dozen or so Beastman Warriors a long time to finally take down the handful of Saber-toothed Pigs.
