Chapter 574: Chapter 411: A Fierce Beast Named Tayun
It even looked up at Wu Yue with its big, dark, watery eyes and let out a pair of soft whimpers. Its tiny pink tongue licked her fingers, and its fluffy little head nuzzled against her nonstop. It was impossibly cute.
Wu Yue’s HP bar was instantly wiped out.
AHHHH!!!
’What is this peerless little cutie? How can anything be this adorable?’
She couldn’t stop herself from reaching out to pet it again and again.
"ROAR!"
But in the next moment, the look of adoration on her face froze. As the dust ahead settled, a massive figure slowly rose to its feet.
"What the... hell! System, why is this Fierce Beast still alive?"
Wu Yue felt the hairs on her arms stand on end. ’Didn’t this Cloud Treading Beast in my arms just take care of that behemoth?’
She stiffly turned her head to look at the adorable little beast in her arms. The little one was still staring at her with its round, watery eyes.
Seeing her look over, it tilted its head in confusion. "Awoo?"
The System, which had been kicked far away, finally managed to crawl back. "Dog Host, don’t be fooled by this scheming little beast! It’s just a juvenile, so it can’t maintain that powerful battle state for very long."
"Then why didn’t you say so earlier?"
The System huffed. "I missed the last part of the file! Who knew that even though the Cloud Treading Beast has formidable combat power, they’re extremely difficult to raise? They need tons and tons of energy."
Wu Yue glanced at the adorable little beast in her arms and instantly felt like she’d signed up to feed a bottomless pit.
RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!
The Fierce Beast from before was charging at them again. Seeing its menacing approach, Wu Yue broke out in a cold sweat.
With a yelp, the System leaped onto her back. "Dog Host, I think we’re screwed!"
"ROAR!"
The Fierce Beast let out an enraged roar and charged into their tree again. The force of the gusting wind made the skin on Wu Yue’s face tremble.
She quickly dropped down and clung to a nearby, thinner branch.
Another violent tremor shook the tree. But perhaps because they had something to hold onto this time, they managed to stay put despite being unsteady, unlike the previous times they’d been thrown off.
"Host, we have to do something! This tree can’t take many more hits from that thing down there."
This tree was nowhere near as thick as the one Wu Yue had hidden in earlier. The Fierce Beast had already gouged a huge chunk out of it. It would probably fall after another four or five hits.
Wu Yue was at a loss. The two of them were weaklings; they stood no chance against a fast, powerful Fierce Beast. If they went down from the tree, they would definitely end up as its next meal.
She gritted her teeth and reached into the satchel at her side. ’If there’s no other choice, I’ll have to try using poison.’
But the poison would only work if it entered a wound or was swallowed by the Fierce Beast, which was extremely risky.
Suddenly, her fingers brushed against something hard and solid inside her satchel. Only then did Wu Yue remember—before they parted ways, the Flying Eagle Witch seemed to have given her a Fierce Beast Crystal Core.
Her eyes lit up. She looked at the little white beast in her arms. "System, you said the little guy can’t maintain its powerful battle state for long because it’s not an adult. What if I feed it a Crystal Core?"

The System, which was clinging to the Dog Host’s thigh with all four paws, heard her words. Its black-bean-like salt crystal eyes lit up. "Of course that’ll work! It might not be enough to defeat this Fierce Beast, but it should at least be able to carry us out of here, no problem."
Just then, the Fierce Beast below charged and struck the tree again with ferocious force. Wu Yue hugged the splintered trunk tightly, and the System clung to its host’s thigh. The person and the creature were nearly knocked off.
"Damn it! That hurts like hell!"
Although the two of them had clung tightly to the trunk and hadn’t been thrown off, her arms were scraped raw by the bark. There wasn’t a single patch of smooth skin left on her forearms.
There was no more time for hesitation. Wu Yue pulled the Crystal Core from her satchel and held it in front of the little beast. "Can you eat this?"
Tayun had been clawing at its master to keep from falling when it suddenly felt a mouth-watering pulse of energy from beside it. Lifting its little head, it saw its master holding a Crystal Core.
Its watery little eyes instantly lit up. It immediately sat up in its master’s embrace, pawing at the air with its two little claws, looking utterly desperate. "Awoo! Awoo!"
