Chapter 2393: I am going to tear them apart.
"What do you think would have happened if Nux saw his children dying and the reason they were dying was because he was too weak to protect them?"
The Seer questioned and the instant she did—
Amaya and all the other women turned silent.
It wasn’t that they didn’t know the answer. They... knew it too well.
Nux loved his children, every single one of them.
If he saw them die right in front of his eyes, no matter the reason, he would... lose himself.
He would think of killing himself, but then he would think of them, he would want to live for their sakes but seeing his state, they wouldn’t want to live either but would live for his sake.
This would either push them into a state where they all lived for each other’s sake, or...
They all ended their lives.
Those were the only two possibilities here.
A life worse than death or... death.
But—
Amaya didn’t say that, after all, she could tell what she was playing at.
"Our children wouldn’t die."
The Seer shook her head at those words.
"It wasn’t me who told the Infinities about Vashti, Amaya. They figured it out on their own."
The Seer looked at Nux and he...
"Zylarith was the one behind it."
He did not lie.
Zylarith had been tracing his steps and investigating for a long while, learning about Vashti was only natural, after all, no matter how weak Zylarith was in his Soul Form, Zylarith was still far more resourceful than any being he had encountered before.
Nux and others couldn’t stop him, especially since they didn’t even know where she was.
With Nux’s confirmation, the Seer nodded and made her point.
"If I hadn’t appeared, you would still be stuck in the same situation where neither you nor your forces could leave your Universe and your children would have starved from the lack of resources."
"You do not know that."
Amaya countered.
"We would have found a way."
"If you did, Nux would have never attacked Zylarith in the first place."
"He attacked because he knew he could win."
Astaria countered but—
"Then why did he leave that final recording behind?"
The Seer questioned back.
"That recording wasn’t about his battle with the Five Infinities, you remember that as well.
That recording was about his battle with Zylarith.
When Nux went to face him, he didn’t know if he could win. The possibility of dying did come to his mind, even then, he made the decision.
Someone like him would only do that if he had no other choice."
The Seer pointed out, then, she looked at Amaya who was gritting her teeth and—
"There was no other way, Amaya.
Facing Zylarith was the only way to ensure your children’s survival, Nux knew that, that was the entire reason he risked his life in the first place.
So yes—
If I hadn’t appeared.
If I hadn’t given Zylarith’s whereabouts.
Your children would have died.
And you and the man you cherish would have broken down into bits even you wouldn’t have been able to recognise."
She countered, not raising her voice for a single moment the entire time.
"As if your existence changed that."
That was when Shadow snorted.
The Seer looked at her and the Goddess of the Universe continued—
"Our children’s lives are still at risk, now more so than before because now, we don’t have any resources needed to help them cultivate at all.
Not to mention Nux has now lost most of his strength.
So if before, Nux could fight Infinities and might have won.
Now, victory is impossible."
Shadow then glared at the Seer with raw and intense anger and—
"For someone who made an already difficult situation significantly more difficult—
You talk an awful lot."
She spoke, locking up the Universe, making sure there was no way the Seer could leave. That action made the Seer react a little. All this while, she had only been using a projection of herself, so her ’life’ was never exactly in danger.
But right now—
Nux had brought her ’real self’ to his Universe, if something happened to her here then—
She would cease to exist.
However—
"I do not claim I made the situation easier."
She shook her head, still as calm as before.
"What I am trying to say is that I am not the enemy you make me out to be.
I had a deal with Nux.
I give him three things he would find extremely useful and in return, he gives me what I want.
And what I wanted... was only possible if Nux lost his life the way he did."
Shadow clenched her fists at those words, the Seer, however, did not stop.
"And mind you, I waited.
I always knew I needed Nux to perish before I could get what I wanted, and at any point in time, I could always reveal his whereabouts to the Infinities and have him die in a way he or any of you here wouldn’t even have known it was me who manipulated the entire thing.
Then, I could have easily helped him return to life like I did now and have him and every single one of you be eternally grateful to me.
But I did not do it.
I waited until there was no choice, I waited until Nux himself would have died anyway to finally make my move.
I do not claim to be a selfless, giving being—
But I am not a dishonest manipulator.
I waited, then I explained every single thing I did and why I did it, every single lie I ever said and why I said it.
And now I stand before you—
Not as someone you should be grateful to, but as someone you judge."
The Seer spoke honestly.
"Also..."
Then, after a slight hesitation.
"Your children’s lives... may not be in danger.
It... shouldn’t be anymore."
"What...?"
Felberta’s face changed at those words.
The rest of the women were the same, every single one of them stared at the Seer and the Seer...
In the end, even after making her case for so long.
She had no choice but to look at Nux and the moment she did—
She saw him smiling at her, like he was expecting this to happen, and that made her mouth twitch in frustration.
This little...
It was his way of taking his revenge...
’I should have expected it.’
She cursed herself for putting herself in this situation, she knew what Nux was like, probably more than his wives did, she should have known he would do something like this.
She was just...
The image she had of Nux was overwritten by the time she spent with him, the time she saw him showing no reaction to anything, the time she saw his cold, distant eyes.
For a moment, that made her pause.
Remembering those eyes and comparing them with the light in his current eyes, it was almost as if she was implanted with false memories.
To think... one would change this much just because he was now with his wives...
She looked back at Nux’s wives and...
’They are fortunate.’
She thought inwardly as a strange feeling rose in her heart.
Right now, however, she had other concerns, so she looked at Nux, her mouth twitching again, but she begged—
"Help me out here, will you?"
"Whaaaatt? I didn’t quite catch that."
Nux asked with a playful grin.
"Help me!"
The Seer raised her voice.
"Hmmmmm? Is that how you ask for help???"
Nux tilted his head.
The Seer’s mouth twitched even further, but still, she took deep breaths to calm herself, then, she looked at him with a forced smile and—
"Nux Leander, I am in a difficult position, can you please help me?"
"Hmmm."
Nux let out a voice, then, after thinking about it for a while—
"We still need to work on that tone of yours, but for now, this will do."
He nodded.
And those words made his wives frown.
"She is right, because of her Third Gift—
Our children are not in danger, not anymore."
Nux grinned.
"Her... third gift?"
Felberta frowned.
"Zylarith’s coordinates?"
"Well... it’s a long story..."
Nux shook his head, for now, he just focused on what was important.
"That wasn’t her gift, it was us who misinterpreted it as one. Her third gift was something else, something...
Very useful."
The women frowned.
"Is it... a way to devour worlds without alerting the Infinities?"
Felberta asked with a ray of hope shining in her eyes but Nux—
He only grinned at those words.
"Without alerting them?
Oh I am going to alert them.
I am going to alert them, I am going to let them surround me again and this time—
I am going to tear them apart."
