Chapter 301: Chapter 301: Secret Meeting_1
The Great Xia Nation, a secret location.
Pangu Sect, the main stronghold.
A mysterious shadow sat atop the staircase.
Below, eight men and women dressed distinctly stood on either side.
These eight individuals were undoubtedly the Eight Venerables of the Pangu Sect.
And the one seated at the very top, visible only as a shadowy silhouette, was the ultimate BOSS of the Pangu Sect.
At that moment, Yulu Venerate, who stood at the end of the left row, stepped forward and bowed deeply to the figure above.
"Sect Master, I feel that Diku Venerable acting on his own is far too rash. I have crossed hands with Ye Fei before, his strength is unfathomable, and his schemes deeper still, shockingly so."
"If we cannot kill him with a single strike, I fear there will be endless troubles ahead. My point is, Diku Venerable’s actions are too risky!"
The shadow heard this but made no immediate response.
Soon after, Diku Venerable, wearing a strange mask, took initiative to retaliate.
"Yulu, can’t you stop using your failure to judge the correctness of my actions?"
"Don’t forget that here, your strength is the weakest. You have no right to talk to me like that."
"He’s just a brat with a bit of skill. If you can’t handle him, that just shows your incompetence. Killing him is as easy for me as reaching into a bag!"
"Is that so?"
Yulu Venerate, having been mocked, let out a cold laugh.
"Then how come, as far as I know, Ye Fei has weakened two of your strong branches recently?"
"At this rate, the power you’ve painstakingly built up in Qingyun Province will soon be picked clean by Ye Fei, won’t it?"
That might have hit a nerve.
Diku Venerable’s voice immediately became ferocious.
"What do you know! Currently, I am merely playing a game of cat and mouse with this kid."
"Once I lure this little mouse out of its hole, that’ll be the time for me to strike a fatal blow!"
"Such intricate planning is something you, a failure, could never comprehend."
Obviously unconvinced, Yulu Venerate continued to sneer.
"Don’t forget, the Sect Master often teaches us never to underestimate our enemy."
"Your actions now are exactly like casting the Sect Master’s words to the wind!"
"It would be a disgrace if you were defeated and others had to clean up your mess."
Diku Venerable was infuriated by the taunt.
"Impudence! What credentials do you have to talk to me like this!"
"Oh! I see now, it’s been said that during your fights with Ye Fei, you’ve been giving him suggestive looks and even secretly showing mercy."
"Time and again you block me from killing him. Could it be that you’ve developed feelings for this boy?"
Yulu Venerate’s face changed instantly, and she drew her weapon in a flash.
"You dare slander me!"
Diku Venerable also pulled out his weapon murmuring.
"What, are you angry out of embarrassment? Want to fight? Fine, who’s afraid of whom?"
The two faced off heatedly.
Suddenly, a heavy voice came from above once more.
"Impudence!"
Both parties hastily sheathed their weapons and bowed to the figure above.
The mysterious individual spoke again: "Diku, while Yulu may be blunt, she’s not without reason. As I understand it, this Ye Fei is indeed elusive and difficult to grasp."
"It’s best not to underestimate him too much. Whatever you do, proceed with caution. If you kill, you must kill cleanly and leave no loose ends. Understood?"
"I understand your meaning," Diku Venerable bowed again.
"Let’s end it here for today, disperse."
The Eight Venerables departed each to their own course.
Just then, the mysterious individual spoke up again: "Fenglai, stay behind for a moment."
The elderly man with blue hair from the left-hand side approached once again.
This was Fenglai Venerable, the second most powerful figure in the Pangu Sect.
"Sect Master, do you have further instructions?"
"I’m still a bit worried. Keep an eye on Diku’s side of things. Regardless of success or failure, report back to me at once. Do you understand?"
"Understood!"
Fenglai may have accepted the assignment, but in his eyes, the Sect Master was being overly cautious.
A young man barely out of adolescence, barely over twenty years old.
No matter how powerful, could he really turn the heavens upside down? Having Diku Venerable deal with him should be more than sufficient.
And yet, he still had to make an appearance personally, it really seemed like using a sledgehammer to kill a mosquito.
But since it was the Sect Master’s command, he had no choice but to follow and make a trip to Qingyun Province.
Upon leaving the great hall, Yulu Venerate felt an inexplicable sense of irritation.
Especially when she thought about that disgusting man who had defeated her and wounded her pride.
She became even more infuriated.
"Diku Venerable, sinister and malicious, his mastery of witchcraft is also unpredictable. More importantly, even the Sect Master personally has his eye on you."
"Ye Fei, oh Ye Fei, it seems your days are numbered."
Yulu Venerate’s lips pursed lightly, her brows slightly furrowed.
A gust of wind blew by, sending willow leaves tumbling to the ground.
Watching those leaves spinning on the ground, Yulu’s heart was unexpectedly swept by a sense of unexplained melancholy.
