Chapter 233: Chapter 233 Barbecue Stall_1
Gao Feng understood what Ye Fei meant and immediately made a phone call, assigning the task to the professionals.
Turning back, the three of them began to discuss the next steps, including releasing the album and planning the concert.
By the time they finished their discussion, it was already dusk as they left the studio.
An army vehicle was parked in front of Ye Fei.
As the door opened, Wang Jianglong stepped out.
"Little brother Ye, you are indeed a busy man, I’ve been waiting for you all afternoon."
"Big brother Wang, are you looking for me for something?"
"Let’s talk in the car."
Noticing the profound look on Wang Jianglong’s face, Ye Fei figured out most of the situation and, without further ado, got into the car.
Wang Jianglong didn’t waste any words. As soon as the car started, he got straight to the point, "The Intelligence Department of the War Ministry intercepted a message today that suggests someone might be after you tonight."
"Oh? Really?"
"The intelligence has been confirmed to be substantially accurate. I’ve already dispatched two squads of elites to covertly protect your sister-in-law and Little Ye."
"So, you’re planning to use me as bait?"
"Correct answer."
Wang Jianglong flashed a grin.
After several months of interaction, the two had found that they got along extremely well, and they had become as close as brothers.
Thus, Ye Fei had no doubt whatsoever regarding Wang Jianglong’s judgement.
"Do you know who’s trying to target me?"
"That’s still unclear at the moment, but I believe we will find out soon."
"I see."
The car drove on, and half an hour later, it stopped in front of a barbecue food stall in the old town district.
Ye Fei glanced casually around the area.
There were many people coming and going, and the food stall was bustling with customers, with many vendors hawking their wares on the street.
At first glance, everything seemed ordinary.
But with Ye Fei’s sharp observations, he noticed at a glance that many of these people were undercover agents from the War Ministry.
"Big brother Wang, you’ve arranged everything meticulously."
Ye Fei chuckled inwardly and followed Wang Jianglong to a small table near the corner at the entrance.
"What would you two like to have?"
A middle-aged man with a scruffy beard approached the table, holding a cigarette at an angle, and tossed a greasy, twisted menu onto the table.
Without looking at the menu, Wang Jianglong made a sweeping gesture with his hand.
"Four chicken heads, ten skewers of flank, twenty mutton skewers! Twenty beef skewers! Get us some side dishes at your discretion. Plus, bring a big jug of your special draft beer!"
"Got it!"
After scribbling on a piece of paper, the man clamped the cigarette back in his mouth, and with a cheerful laugh, said, "Would you like to try our special grilled kidneys? I’m not boasting, but one skewer will definitely make you fall in love."
"Sure! Let’s start with twenty skewers to try!"
Wang Jianglong was up for anything.
The man chuckled and joked, "Brother, twenty skewers? Can you handle it?"
Wang Jianglong patted his chest, "Big bro, who do you think you’re looking at? This body of mine can definitely handle it!"
The man gave a thumbs up, then turned to Ye Fei.
Following the man’s gaze, Ye Fei looked in the direction indicated and saw a small alley about thirty meters away, which was warmly lit and exuded an alluring charm, full of vibrancy.
Ye Fei couldn’t help laughing to himself, thinking that this brother was really good at business. Being able to combine barbecue with a taste of the ’peach’ industry into an all-in-one service, he probably was indeed a one-of-a-kind in this business.
"Thanks for the heads-up, bro. If I need anything like that, I’ll be sure to visit."
"Haha, you got it, little bro! Just hang on a second, and I’ll personally go grill some skewers for you guys!"
Once the man left, Wang Jianglong’s face immediately darkened.
"This kid’s a little too enthusiastic, we need to be careful."
Ye Fei seemed completely unconcerned, as tranquil as a breeze.
"Don’t worry, he bears no malice towards us."
"Little Ye, how can you tell?"
Ye Fei gave a faint smile, "Simple, there’s not a trace of killing intent on him."
"Oh..."
Wang Jianglong nodded, half-convinced, and started issuing commands to his subordinates lying in ambush around the area via his mobile phone.
Before long, the alcohol, dishes, and skewers all arrived.
So the two of them chatted, ate, and waited.
At that moment, a group of seven or eight hoodlums arrived at the table next to them.
Each one had tattoos, bare arms, and was shouting boisterously—the epitome of arrogant swagger.
As soon as they sat down, they were as loud as a frying pan, hollering and yelling; they dominated the whole eatery with their noise.
Seeing such commotion, many of the customers who arrived later didn’t dare to enter, while some of those who came earlier hurriedly paid their bills and left.
Among them, a hoodlum with green hair and a large tattoo of a dragon that stretched over his shoulder was the loudest.
From the moment his butt hit the chair, his mouth didn’t stop boasting and bragging.
If he wasn’t bragging about sleeping with some girl today, he was boasting about chopping down some big shot yesterday—acting tougher than even Chan Ho-Nam.
The other hoodlums were really good at sucking up, praising him non-stop with phrases like "Brother Hai is awesome!" and "Brother Hai is the real deal!"
If it were just the bluster, Ye Fei and Wang Jianglong could have tolerated it.
After all, they were just a bunch of little punks; it wasn’t worth stooping to their level.
But ’Brother Hai,’ growing more and more excited as he spoke, pulled his top off to show his tattoos, and slammed one foot onto the chair.
"Shit! Not to brag, but with just one word from me, Wu Hai, no one in Tianhe City dares not to show me respect! Don’t you think so?"
The other hoodlums chuckled obsequiously.
"Of course, we believe you! Brother Hai, you’ve risen to power in Tianhe City, not in just a day or two—nobody dares to disrespect you!"
"Exactly! That’s why we’ll have to rely on your patronage in the future, Brother Hai. Whether we brothers eat meat or sip on soup, it all depends on you now!"
Wu Hai twisted his mouth into a smile, "No problem! With me, Wu Hai, looking out for you, whoever dares to step out of line, just tell me, and I’ll crush them!"
Caught up in the excitement, Wu Hai smashed a bottle onto the ground.
With a loud crash, alcohol spilled everywhere, and shards of glass flew in all directions.
Many customers were frightened, some even cut by the flying glass, but seeing Wu Hai’s boldness, they all lowered their heads and endured it.
This only made Wu Hai even more cocky.
His cronies looked at him with admiring eyes.
"Brother Hai is invincible! Look how you’ve scared these people—they don’t even dare to fart. Haha, so satisfying!"
"Brother Hai is truly badass! Now that’s what a real man looks like! My idol! My idol! Respect! Respect!"
Wu Hai became even more full of himself, laughing wildly, "What’s so great about this? Just wait until you’ve hung out with me longer, then you’ll see just how bottomless Brother Hai’s strength really is!!"
Wu Hai said this, and with an air of invincibility, he swept a gaze over the onlookers.
But this time, he noticed that the two people at the small table behind him were staring at him with a cold look.
This rubbed him the wrong way.
Especially wanting to show off in front of his lackeys, buoyed by the alcohol, he picked up another bottle and walked toward the small table.
