[Part 4/10 of today’s epic mass release! Enjoy!]
Hugo’s fingers slid down the curve of Loli’s waist, feeling the warmth of her body through the soft, thin fabric of her nightshirt.
His other hand cupped the back of her head, fingers threading through her slightly damp hair as he pulled her closer, deepening the kiss with slow, intoxicating movements.
Her lips were soft, warm, and tasted faintly like the chocolate they had eaten earlier, and every press of her body against his sent a thrilling rush through him.
It was the kind of kiss that made time stop, the kind that made him forget every single thought except one—more.
He needed more of her. Every little sigh she let out, every time she shifted slightly in his grip, made his heartbeat stutter and his fingers tighten slightly, pressing her closer until there was no space left between them.
Oh, this was heaven. No, this was something better than heaven. If there was a level above paradise, Hugo was sitting on its highest throne!
His mind buzzed with a thousand ridiculous thoughts, most of them centered on how insanely unfair it was that Loli’s body felt this good against his.
She was so soft. So warm. So ridiculously addictive and voluptuous.
It wasn’t his fault that his hands were roaming—this was basic instinct!
His fingers traced slow circles along her waist, then glided downwards, his palm resting just above her plump, perky butt.
He was savoring every little reaction from her, every tiny, subtle arch of her back, every small intake of breath, every time she gripped onto his shirt like she never wanted to let go. Oh yeah.
This was exactly how it was supposed to be. A perfect flow, a perfect rhythm, a perfect moment.
He was following the natural progression of things, step by step, making sure that everything unfolded just right. If things kept going like this, tonight was going to be—
"Hugo…"
Her voice was barely above a whisper, but the way she gasped his name sent shivers straight down his spine.
Oh? Was she that into it? Was he doing everything too well?
He smirked slightly against her skin, pressing another slow, teasing kiss along her jaw before moving down, trailing his lips along the delicate curve of her collarbone.
His fingers slid slightly lower, gripping her thighs, ready to slide into her shirt and take things a little further, but then—
Her hands pressed firmly against his chest.
"Hugo, stop."
Hugo froze.
…Huh?
For a full two seconds, his brain completely malfunctioned. Experience more tales on Freewebnovel
He blinked, still slightly breathless, his lips barely an inch from her skin. Surely, he had misheard, right?
Maybe she meant "don’t stop" and just accidentally left out the "don’t"? Yeah, that had to be it. Classic slip of the tongue.
He decided to follow the classic script and play it cool, so he leaned back slightly, nodding like the perfect gentleman.
"Of course," he murmured smoothly, his fingers stroking her waist in reassurance. "We can take our time."
He moved back to kissing her lips, slower this time, more gentle, making sure she felt safe and comfortable.
That was how these things worked. Sometimes, girls got overwhelmed and needed a moment, but then, once things resumed, everything would flow naturally again.
Right? Right?!
Wrong!
The moment he attempted to deepen the kiss again, her hands came up—again.
"I said stop, Hugo," Loli said, her cheeks red but her eyes serious.
Hugo blinked again, his brain struggling to process this reality. Wait… wait wait wait. This… wasn’t a test?
This wasn’t one of those playful little resistances where she secretly wanted him to keep going?!
No, because her hands were very firm on his chest. Because she was looking at him with that slightly panicked expression. Because she wasn’t moving closer anymore!
And just like that, his entire world shattered. A million thoughts exploded in his head at once.
No… no, this couldn’t be happening. This had to be a joke. A prank? A hidden camera show? Did she want him to suffer?
Was this karma? Had he wronged too many women in his former lifetime, and now the universe was finally making him pay for his sins?
"Loli…" he croaked, barely holding onto his sanity. "What… what do you mean stop?"
She looked down, her fingers playing with the hem of her shirt nervously. Her face was still red, and she was biting her lip like she was embarrassed to even say it.
"I mean… I’m not ready for that yet," she admitted softly.
The air in the room shifted.
Hugo felt like the ceiling had collapsed on him. His mind raced at full speed, desperately trying to come up with an escape route, a loophole, anything.
But no. No, the words were already said. This wasn’t a trick. This wasn’t a test.
She was serious.
He swallowed, forcing himself to keep his expression calm even though internally, he was crying like a man who had just lost everything.
"You’re… not ready?" he echoed weakly, barely able to process it.
She nodded, still avoiding his eyes. "Yeah. I mean, I like being close to you, but…" She hesitated before sighing.
"I guess I’m still getting used to even being this close with someone."
Oh no.
Oh no, this was really happening.
Hugo felt an existential crisis creep up his spine.
He nodded slowly, like a good and understanding boyfriend, like the most patient and considerate man on earth, even though internally, he was absolutely dying.
"Oh. Right. I get it. No worries," he said with a smile so forced it could’ve been painted on.
Loli beamed at him, clearly relieved. She scooted closer and snuggled into his arms, hugging him tightly. "You’re the best, Hugo," she mumbled.
Hugo stared blankly at the ceiling.
His life was a lie.
How did this happen? Why did this happen? Why was it always him? Lisa was the only normal one!
Every other girl had some tragic backstory or mental block that prevented things from moving forward, and yet, despite all that, they still got jealous and possessive over him!
As if on cue, Loli suddenly pulled back and narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously.
"By the way, this doesn’t mean you can go flirting with other girls just because we’re taking things slow," she warned.
Hugo gulped.
Her eyes were sharp. Piercing. She was cute, adorable even, but there was something terrifying about her. That small, sweet voice carried an unspoken threat.
"No, no, of course not!" Hugo said quickly, waving his hands innocently.
Loli stared at him for a moment before nodding in satisfaction. She snuggled back into his chest, completely unaware that Hugo was currently going through the five stages of grief in real time.
Then, at that exact moment, the clock on the wall struck midnight.
Hugo blinked at it, then glanced down at Loli, who was comfortably curled up against him, completely oblivious.
A slow smile spread across his face.
"Well, well," he said softly, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. "Look at that. It’s midnight."
She peeked up at him, confused. "Huh?"
Hugo leaned down and whispered against her forehead, his voice smooth. "Happy birthday, Loli."
Loli’s eyes widened in surprise, then softened as a huge smile spread across her lips. She let out a small, happy laugh, hugging him tighter.
At that moment, Hugo decided that even though his plans had failed miserably, this wasn’t so bad.
…But he was still going to complain about it later!
It was unfair!
