Hugo let out a slow breath, forcing himself to chill.

The temptation to take things further with Loli was definitely there—after all, they were in the back seat, away from prying eyes, and she had literally just admitted she liked him.

But he had to be smart about this.

Just because of his haste to progress with her, he couldn't afford to mess things up!

He had only just made up with her, and as much as he liked pushing his luck, he wasn't dumb enough to risk ruining things just because he couldn't control himself.

Besides, was Loli even the type to be comfortable getting all touchy feely so soon?

Probably not. And definitely not in a public movie theater. 'Yeah. Let's not push my luck today.'

Kissing her was already a surprise in and of itself. It was a very pleasant surprise. But surprises don't happen all the time!

So, instead of testing his fate, he relaxed into his seat and focused on the final stretch of the movie.

The male lead, after suffering through all his karma and experiencing the full wrath of the universe for his flirty ways, had somehow managed to pull off an emotional redemption arc.

And, of course, the girl he hurt forgave him. Just like that. A few grand gestures, some sappy dialogue, a dramatic rain scene, and boom—happily ever after.

Hugo barely held back a groan. 'Oh, come on. After all that mess, they just gave him a happy ending?'

The dude had cheated, lied, and led multiple girls on. He had been an absolute menace.

And now he gets to walk off into the sunset, holding hands with the girl he hurt the most? Just because he realized the error of his ways at the last second?!

Now Hugo wasn't a hypocrite, but there were some events that realistically couldn't possibly happen!

At least not so easily!

'Man, the producers really fumbled this one. This guy should've at least suffered a little more. Where's the realism?'

But at the same time… Hugo couldn't exactly blame them. If they had ended the movie with the guy getting dumped and left to rot alone, it would probably bomb in theaters.

Nobody wants to leave a movie feeling miserable. Happy endings sell.

Hugo sighed, shaking his head. 'Cowards. But understandable cowards.'

As the credits started rolling, he turned to Loli, and—to his surprise—she was already looking at him.

Their eyes met, and for some reason, they both burst into laughter. It wasn't even about anything in particular.

Maybe it was the absurdity of the movie. Maybe it was the fact that this whole night had been a rollercoaster of emotions.

Or maybe they were just that relieved that their weird tension from before was finally gone.

Either way, Hugo couldn't stop laughing, and neither could she.

When they finally calmed down, Loli wiped a stray tear from her eye and smirked at him. "You still can't believe I screamed in the café bathroom, can you?"

Hugo's mouth fell open. "Oh, you brought it up? I thought I had to pretend that never happened so you wouldn't kill me."

She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. I don't even know why I reacted that way. I was just… surprised."

"Surprised? That's what we're calling it? Loli, you looked at me like I was a ghost."

Loli groaned, hiding her face in her hands. "I know! Ugh, I don't even know why I panicked so hard! It wasn't that serious."

Hugo smirked. "I think it's because you secretly felt guilty for ignoring me. Your subconscious was like 'Oh no, I've been exposed for my crimes!'"

Loli shot him a flat look. "That's your theory?"

"One hundred percent."

She let out a dramatic sigh before giving him a small, apologetic smile. "Okay, fine. I do feel bad for how I acted. How can I make it up to you?"

Hugo's brain lit up.

'Oh? This is my chance. This is my golden opportunity to extend this date!'

Honestly, he had been feeling a little weird about how soon their night was about to end. It was bit too soon for his liking.

They had just made up, just had a great time together, and now they were supposed to just… say goodbye and go home?

For real?!

That felt so anticlimactic. But at the same time, he wasn't sure if inviting her over to his place—or asking to go over to hers—was too much.

Although he had been to her place multiple times already, it would nonetheless still feel a little awkward if he were to go there right after they made up and not have time to build comfort with her to it's former point.

But now? Now she was the one asking how to make it up to him. Perfect!

This was a divine opportunity from the gods!

Hugo's lips curled into a smooth grin. "What I want is for you to go on another date with me. Right now."

Loli's eyes widened slightly, but then a small, amused smile tugged at her lips. "Right now?"

"Yup. No breaks. The next phase of our date starts immediately."

Loli tilted her head, clearly intrigued. "Alright. What do you have in mind?"

Hugo leaned in just a bit. "There's this skating rink nearby. Ice Fairies. Ever been?"

Loli blinked. Then, she laughed nervously. "Uh… yeah, about that. I don't know how to skate."

Hugo raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

She nodded. "Like, at all. I've never even tried."

A slow grin spread across Hugo's face. "Well, then that just makes it even better. I'll teach you."

Loli's eyes lit up. It was subtle at first, just a tiny spark of curiosity, but then, within seconds, she looked even more excited than he was. "You'd teach me?"

"Of course. It'll be fun."

Loli bit her lip, clearly debating it for all of two seconds before nodding eagerly. "Okay. Let's do it."

Hugo smirked, feeling incredibly pleased with himself. Smooth. Very smooth.

Tonight wasn't over yet. Not even close.
