Chapter 202: The Elven Seven Arrives
"Mmmhhhng..."
A soft, sleepy moan drifted from behind Max, low and drawn out as Rosalia began to stir beneath the warmth of the sheets. He turned his head just in time to see her stretching across the bed, her arms lifting above her head while her legs extended beneath the thin fabric that barely covered her body anymore.
The movement made the sheets slide lower along her curves, revealing more of the pale skin that had been hidden beneath them only moments ago. Her long white hair spilled over the pillows and across the bed in soft waves, catching the pale morning light as she shifted with a quiet, half-asleep sigh.
Max’s lips slowly curled into a possessive smile.
His eyes moved over her beauty without shame, taking in every curve that had become so familiar to him, yet still managed to make something warm and hungry stir inside his chest.
"Slept well?" Max asked.
His morning voice was low and rough, deeper than usual from sleep, but it still carried that natural authority that made even simple words sound like an order when they left his lips.
Rosalia was still so sleepy that she simply stared into nowhere for a long moment, her pale eyes unfocused as though her mind had not fully returned to the room yet.
"Mmm? Ah..." She slowly shook her head from side to side, white hair spilling over her shoulders as she tried to wake herself properly. "I slept well. But... what day is it now?"
Max could not help the faint smile that touched his lips.
She looked extremely cute like this, half-awake and confused, with the softness of sleep still clinging to her expression. It was hard to connect this drowsy woman to the dangerous healer who could freeze an entire battlefield when she wanted to.
Max turned fully toward her and began walking slowly across the crystal floor.
Only then did Rosalia finally notice that he was wearing something completely different.
Her sleepy expression faded as her eyes moved over him, taking in the dark outfit he had shaped from void and crystal. The black material fit closely around his body, following the lines of his frame, while the subtle crystalline details caught the morning light along his shoulders and sleeves.
The high collar gave him a sharper presence, while the dark panels flowing behind him made him look less like the exhausted man who had left the bed moments ago and more like the king everyone outside was waiting for.
"Whoa..." Rosalia’s voice softened into a low purr as she slowly pushed herself higher against the pillows. "You look amazing. So powerful."
The moment Max stopped before the bed, her hand slid over the dark material covering his abs, her fingers moving slowly across the surface as if she wanted to feel for herself whether the new clothes were truly as strong as they looked.
"Yeah?" Max asked, his lips curling as he took Rosalia’s hand and gently pulled her closer. She slid forward across the bed until her face rested just before his crotch, close enough that the heat in her gaze became impossible to miss.
"What else do you like about your king?"
Rosalia bit her lower lip, her silver eyes slowly rising to meet his. The sleepy softness had disappeared from her expression, replaced by a growing smile that looked warmer, hungrier, and far more thirsty for his attention than before.
But just as the moment began to deepen, a sharp knock against the door shattered the quiet atmosphere inside the room.
Max turned his head toward the entrance, his expression immediately shifting.
"What is it?" he asked loudly.
His voice reverberated through the crystal chamber, deep enough to make the air seem to tremble around him. Even Agnia stirred beneath the sheets, her eyes opening slightly as she woke from the sudden commotion.
The door remained shut, but the voice of a young maiden echoed from the other side.
"My king, pardon my intrusion, but we have guests in the citadel."
Her voice was firm, though it shook slightly at certain words, as if she feared Max would not take the disturbance well after disappearing from the public eye for so long.
"Guests?" Max repeated, his brow lifting in question.
He and Rosalia exchanged a brief look.
Then Max lowered his voice and gently petted Rosalia’s head, his fingers sliding through her soft white hair.
"Clean yourselves up, my angels, and get ready for the day," he said quietly.
"Yes, my king," the maiden answered from beyond the door. "Several elven women from the Aelvarith Empire have arrived. Your vassals have come to swear their pledge to you."
"Vassals?" Max muttered, more to himself than to anyone else, his brows drawing together as he looked toward the door. "When did I ever say they were my vassals?"
"That is because you have not fully absorbed their lands into your kingdom yet," Agnia answered through a yawn, stretching lazily beneath the sheets until her body arched and then settling back against the pillows with the sleepy ease of someone who had no intention of getting up any time soon. "They are subordinate to you, but they are not technically part of Voidstar. Not yet."
"Alright," he said after a moment, rubbing his chin as he considered it. "I will take care of it."
Rosalia gave him a sleepy smile from the bed, her fingers still resting lightly against the dark material over his stomach. "Try not to make all of them pregnant at once."
Max glanced down at her hand and then back at the amused look in her eyes.
"I cannot promise that," he replied with a faint grin.
Agnia let out a soft laugh, though she was still half asleep and clearly not fully committed to the conversation.
Max only shook his head and turned toward the massive crystal doors.
With a flick of his fingers, multicolored magic spread across the surface of the entrance, rippling over the crystal like liquid light.
The enormous doors trembled.
A deep sound echoed through the chamber as crystal shifted against crystal, and then the doors slowly began to open outward.
The young woman waiting outside immediately stepped back.
She had clearly been standing close enough to listen for an answer, because the sudden movement startled her badly. Her long green hair bounced around her shoulders as she stumbled back a step, and her pink eyes widened the moment she saw Max walking toward her.
For a second, she simply froze.
The King of Voidstar stood before her in dark clothing that seemed to swallow the light around it. A confident smile rested on his face, and to her, he looked like a god.
Max stopped in front of her, towering over her smaller frame, and looked down at her with calm curiosity.
"What is your name?" he asked.
The woman’s body stiffened.
She was shaking like a leaf, though Max could not tell whether it was from fear, excitement, or some mixture of both. Her cheeks had turned faintly pink, and she kept looking at his face before quickly lowering her gaze again whenever their eyes met.
"Are you alright?" Max asked, raising an eyebrow.
The question only made her panic more.
"Ah, yes! Yes, my king!" she blurted out. "I-I am fine. I am Aiga!"
Her green hair bounced wildly as she nodded too quickly, making Max’s lips twitch with amusement.
"Aiga," he repeated.
She looked up again at the sound of her name in his voice.
"It is a pretty name, I like it." He said it casually, but the poor woman nearly stopped breathing.
Behind him, Rosalia made a quiet sound that suspiciously resembled a laugh, while Agnia covered her mouth with one hand, her eyes narrowing playfully as she watched Aiga struggle to remain standing.
Max did not seem to notice any of it.
"Show me where our guests are waiting," he said.
Aiga immediately straightened, forcing herself to regain some dignity. "Y-Yes, my king. They are waiting in the outer reception hall."
She turned around quickly and began leading the way through the long crystal corridors of the citadel.
Max followed behind her at an unhurried pace, his dark coat-like panels moving quietly around his legs with every step. The citadel had changed greatly since he had first created it. What had once been only a massive structure of crystal and stone had slowly become the heart of Voidstar, a living center of power and movement where the kingdom’s pulse could be felt in every corridor.
Dragon warriors stood at nearly every intersection, their armor gleaming beneath the light of crystal embedded into the walls. Every one of them lowered their heads the moment Max passed.
"My king."
"My king."
"Long live Voidstar."
Their voices followed him through the corridors, growing louder as more guards noticed his return.
At the end of the corridor, two massive doors stood open, leading into the outer reception hall.
Aiga stopped before them and turned back toward Max, swallowing nervously.
"My king," she said, trying her best to sound composed. "The elven representatives from Aelvarith are inside."
Max gave her a small nod.
"Good. You did well."
Aiga’s face brightened so quickly that the nearby warriors could not help shooting teasing glances in her direction.
Max stepped through the doors to find the seven elven women waiting inside.
They stood together before the big balcony, overlooking the city.
"Ladies."
Max placed his hands behind his back and stood straight as a spear, his dark attire settling around his broad frame as he faced them with complete confidence. There was not even the faintest trace of fear on his face, only the calm, unshakable presence of a man who knew exactly where he stood.
Their eyes turned toward him at once.
For a brief moment, none of the seven women spoke. His presence alone seemed to steal the air from their lungs, and whatever plans they had carefully prepared before coming here suddenly felt almost laughable beneath the weight of the man standing before them.
"Kneel," Max said seriously, his gaze burning like a cold star as it swept across each of them. "Crawl to me on your knees and show me your loyalty."
