Chapter 1495: Chapter 56: Equality of All Beings (Part 3)
The great sword shattered the blades, the Heavenly Demon’s arms swept aside, and the divine machine dragon completely broke through the defenses. The heavy sword cut down the center, leaving a tragic scar on Gongsun Ce’s chest. Instead of retreating, Gongsun Ce advanced, controlling the Heavenly Demon to conceal the blades and strike with both fists, exchanging injury for injury with King Pingdeng.
The Heavenly Demon’s fists burned with scorching Tribulation Flame, flames following the heavy blows into the machine dragon’s body. The erupting Tribulation Flame caused the flesh of the Dragon Head Giant to wither, the undying flesh growing and being burnt to dryness in the flames, looking as tragic as an execution. Yet, the machine dragon did not fall, it still stood firmly, with King Pingdeng standing alongside in the Tribulation Flame, enduring the agony without stepping back.
He raised both hands together with the machine dragon, deep blue light gathering in their palms, its shape unfixed and sharply flickering. The declaration of the King emerged from the light, fierce as a stormy night’s ocean.
"Desolate Star Ocean Break!"
No technique, no characteristic, a pure mass of power was thrown by the divine machine dragon. Gongsun Ce also concentrated Tribulation Flame, the Heavenly Demon spewing a black and red pillar that could burn the world. Both sides’ raw power clashed in the war, as light exploded, the emotions driving the power erupted as well. Gongsun Ce involuntarily widened his eyes, seeing ancient remnants from memories long before the current era.
It was an unfair and rigid world, where some are born strong and wise, while others are born weak and ignorant, the gap between individuals astonishingly vast, yet the strong often could not reach the higher levels. For everyone was born under destiny’s domination, an invisible and uncontrollable "luck" governed everything. The strong might fall due to "misfortune," while the weak could win by "luck," statuses overturned for ridiculous reasons, the only certainty being the inevitable "retribution" that would arrive.
A man born and growing in such an environment, striving furiously because he refused to be trapped by destiny. He never bullied the weak or abused power, gaining strength through hard work and training, seeking to earn his deserved position and wealth through his abilities. But unfortunately, he was an unfortunate man, his relentless pursuits yielding nothing against an unfair fate. He could live comfortably in an unjust world, but he could never become the "victor," never truly.
He did not feel discouraged, understanding this as the world’s rules, a mortal could contend against the world but was destined not to win. The weary man released his fists, preparing to accept destiny and live an ordinary life like most.
At that moment, the war began.
The King of Destiny and the Infinite King, clashed at the end of causality. Worlds incompatible like water and fire collided, and when the Kings’ followers met, battles unfolded.
He first encountered another world, where there was cold fire, burning water, heavy air, and tangible light. In that otherworld, elemental life lived as they pleased in a chaotic world. It was a different world, with different wills; all he saw and heard profoundly shook his soul. The beings of the Otherworld were incredibly strong, easily slaughtering the inhabitants of the Huojin Realm. He thought he too would die, but with a light punch, he annihilated the oncoming beast horde.
He was incredulous of his own battle achievements.
For the first time, he realized his own "strength."
Muscles trembling, pupils dilated, difficulty controlling erratic breathing, a torrent of emotions surged within, an unexplainable heat igniting his being. All he saw was bones and blood, cries around him never ceasing, yet in his empty heart like a wasteland, unfamiliar feelings rose for the first time. He wanted to roar, to shout, to raise his hands and cheer, and when consciousness returned, tears were already dripping from the corners of his eyes. He wept bitterly in the puddles of blood, laughing atop the piles of corpses.
So this is the feeling known as "victory!"
