"My child. My child!" The child’s mother rushed out, shouting.

After shouting, Li Yifei dashed forward and stepped on the man’s body. Although his head was smashed and the blackened brain was splattered, his body was still struggling to get up. His limbs were continuously writhing. Li Yifei stomped down hard and there was a crunching sound, with several of the man’s bones crushed under Li Yifei’s foot. Yet, he still wouldn’t stay down, even though his body was no longer responding properly.
Li Yifei snorted, a True Qi Blade materialized in his hand, and he said, "You asked for this, so don’t blame me!"
With that, Li Yifei made a few swift slashes with the True Qi Blade, shattering the man’s body which finally stopped struggling. However, a puff of black smoke emerged from the body, appearing conspicuous in the daylight. Out of the body, this black smoke sizzled as though it couldn’t bear the burning sunlight, impatiently searching for its next host, targeting the nearest Li Yifei.
Ill-fated black evil qi, targeting Li Yifei of all people. It entered his body, only to be rapidly dissolved, Li Yifei not even flinching.
Moments later, after extinguishing this black evil qi, handling this little nuisance, Li Yifei felt increasingly uneasy. Where there’s one, there might be another. This black evil qi is so insidious; it invades a person’s body swiftly, and even after death, can control the corpse to instinctively bite others. Li Yifei worried someone unseen might suddenly start biting others, spreading rapidly.
Seeing Li Yifei’s quick strikes with the white blade-like object cutting the person to pieces, the villagers were all dumbstruck, some were stunned, their faces pale, others simply collapsed on the ground vomiting, even rolling their eyes and fainting.
A few police officers, well-trained, quickly organized the crowd, splitting them into groups.
"Draw your guns, safety off. If you encounter someone enraged and can’t ensure your safety, shoot immediately!" Li Yifei transmitted to several officers and also to Hu Yu’er’s men, saying, "Find some handy weapons to keep on you, just in case. I permit you to defend yourselves if absolutely necessary; ensure your safety!"
The two groups looked at Li Yifei in confusion. Sure it was his voice, but he hadn’t opened his mouth. Li Yifei suddenly closed his eyes, as if he’d heard a sound. Nondescript thumping, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Hearing it, his eyes filled with uncertainty, the thumping seemingly coming from the sky.
But how could that be possible? The sky was clear, no planes or the like. Even if it were a plane, it wouldn’t sound like this, nor could it be thunder, now that the sky was cloudless.
"Strange, where’s the drumbeat coming from?" A policeman discreetly unlocked his gun, wondering while looking around.
The villagers waiting for checks and treatments quieted down, also hearing the sound, seemingly overhead, or perhaps in their minds.
In their minds? Li Yifei furrowed his brow tighter, having found some clues to the sound, when suddenly it disappeared.
Li Yifei glanced toward the sea and thought, "Could it be a sound from the sea? Hope nothing goes wrong over by Shanshan!"
"Mr. Li, Mr. Li!" A woman stumbled over, and Li Yifei quickly reached out to steady her, hearing her breathlessly, incoherently say, "Mr. Li, hurry, hurry to the village chief’s house; the chief has gone mad, bitten several people!"
"Damn!" Li Yifei knew immediately it was bad upon hearing. The village chief, whom Li Yifei had seen earlier and helped organize manpower with, had suddenly gone mad when just moments before he’d treated him. Unless the evil qi invaded again, there was no way he’d suddenly go mad.
Following the woman’s direction, Li Yifei quickly ran toward the village chief’s house, leaving the policemen, Hu Family, and Brother Wang’s villagers here to maintain order—no one was allowed to move on their own, or they’d be tied up immediately.
