Chapter 409: Chapter 195: A Boat on the Green Waves, a Person in a Painting—This Is the Life
Since Xu Yun was on vacation, he couldn’t just wander around aimlessly.
To have a good experience, you really needed a good local guide to show you around.
He couldn’t count on Lin Wanzhou, who was completely in the dark—even more clueless than Xu Yun himself.
His expertise lay along the national borders, in things like wilderness survival.
Fortunately, however, Xu Yun had money.
Money isn’t everything, but you can’t do anything without it.
The next day, after finishing breakfast at the restaurant next door, Xu Yun and Lin Wanzhou went to the front desk in the resort hotel’s lobby.
Looking at the pretty receptionist, he bluntly asked if the hotel offered a companion service, adding that he was willing to pay.
At first, the young woman got the wrong idea. She assumed the "companion service" Xu Yun was asking for was something indecent and sternly refused, saying they offered no such thing.
Xu Yun then said he could pay more.
As long as the service was good and they were satisfied, money was no object.
The receptionist saw how generous Xu Yun was. Since he was also staying in one of the resort’s more expensive villas, he was clearly a wealthy man and didn’t seem to be lying.
"Alright, then."
After a moment of internal debate, the young woman said a bit bashfully, "But we’d only have time to accompany you at night. We have to work during the day."
"The scenic spots here are open at night?"
"Scenic spots?"
The receptionist was baffled. "What scenic spots? Weren’t you asking for a companion?"
"I was."
Xu Yun explained, "We drove here ourselves and we’re not familiar with the area. We don’t have a guide, so we were wondering if the hotel offered that kind of service."
"You’re looking for a tour guide?"
"Yes, a tour guide."
Xu Yun smiled and asked, "What else did you think we wanted?"
"..."
The receptionist, flustered, quickly said, "Our hotel doesn’t offer guide services, but if you need one, I can help you find someone."
"We need a good one."
"My cousin is a local. She often leads private tours. Her service is great, and she knows this area very well."
The receptionist added, "Why don’t you give her a try?"
"Sounds good. Please contact her now."
Xu Yun pulled 200 yuan from his pocket, handed it to the receptionist, and said, "For your trouble."
"It’s no trouble. Please wait a moment."
The receptionist smiled as she accepted Xu Yun’s tip and started making the call.
Xu Yun and Lin Wanzhou waited in the lobby. Half an hour later, an attractive young woman walked over.
She had a slightly tan, wheat-colored complexion and was wearing a pair of light-colored sunglasses, a blue hat, a white form-fitting t-shirt, faded jeans, and sneakers.
Upon seeing her, the receptionist immediately went over, exchanged a few words, and then led her to Xu Yun and Lin Wanzhou.
"Gentlemen, this is my cousin. I’ll let you two talk." After saying this, she left.
The young woman sat down across from them, sizing them up.
Her cousin had told her that these two men probably had some money. They were staying in a large villa, and one of them was wearing a Louis Vuitton t-shirt.
’These should be high-quality clients.’
She took off her sunglasses and asked with a smile, "My cousin said you’re looking for a good local guide to show you around?"
"That’s right," Xu Yun nodded.
"My name is Wang Yang."
The woman introduced herself, "I grew up here, so I’m very familiar with the area, including the staff at the tourist attractions. You definitely won’t regret hiring me as your guide.
If you’re with me, you won’t have to wait in line for most places, attractions, or activities. You can go straight in.
It’ll save you time and make the experience much more comfortable.
On top of that, if you’re interested, I can also take you to some nearby spots that are even more beautiful and less crowded."
"That would be perfect."
Xu Yun was very satisfied after hearing her out and decided to hire her.
"But for premium service, the price is naturally different from that of a regular guide."
Wang Yang continued, "I don’t know if my cousin mentioned this, but my fee is double the market rate: 800 yuan a day. That’s for guiding services only, nothing else.
If you have any other requests, I reserve the right to refuse. If I do accept, the fee will be calculated separately."
"That’s all fine."
Xu Yun smiled. "You get what you pay for."
"Great. You’re a straightforward man, Mr. Xu."
Wang Yang asked curiously, "How many days are you planning to be here?"
"We’ll see. If we’re having fun, we’ll stay a few more days. If not, we’ll leave."
"That’s fine. I charge by the day, so we’ll just settle up for however long you stay."
Wang Yang took out her phone. "I will, however, need you to pay a deposit in advance. It’s not that I don’t trust you, it’s just standard procedure."
"No problem."
Xu Yun had her add him on WeChat, then transferred 5,000 yuan to her.
"Is that enough?"
"That’s more than enough."
Seeing that they had an agreement and she had received a partial payment, Wang Yang stood up. "Alright, let’s head out now."
When they got to the parking lot, Wang Yang asked, "Do you have your own car? We’ll probably need to drive."
"We have an RV. Will that work?"
"Er, that’s a bit inconvenient."
Wang Yang smiled. "How about this: you can just ride in my car for the next few days. But there will be an extra charge for that—for gas and for wear and tear on the vehicle."
"No problem. That’s only fair."
Wang Yang’s car was a white Volkswagen CC. With its subtle fastback design, frameless windows, and large tires, it was a popular car among many stylish, professional women.
After getting in, Xu Yun, sitting in the back seat, offered a polite compliment. "This is a nice car."
