Chapter 1209: Chapter 1208: A Clue

"Ah, I was at the conference too, right next to the boss. I witnessed your entire process of unlocking the virus. Truly a genius, haha. Didn’t expect to see you here."

"Director, do you know him?" At this moment, Xun Nian also walked up to Jiang Cheng, carefully observing him.

"Stop embarrassing yourself. No matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to keep your Chief Scientist position. You didn’t attend the conference and you don’t know the most outstanding scientist of our times. All you do is cling to old ways. Now you’ve learned to slander people, claiming they stole your things?" The director was so angry his voice wavered.

Jiang Cheng quickly took out a bottle of water from the Jiezhi Bracelet and handed it to the director.

Seeing Jiang Cheng’s seemingly magical retrieval, the director’s eyes lit up, and he nodded. "Ah, Lin, you’ve witnessed a scene. Frankly, we have very few talented people in the Academy, too many here just indulge in enjoyment," saying this, he glanced at Gou Nian, "People like you reassures me. Would you be willing to join our team of scientists?"

"I haven’t really decided on my future research direction, so I’ll pass for now," Jiang Cheng politely declined.

Seeing Jiang Cheng had no intention of joining, the director said no more.

"Why are you here now?" the director asked. "Ah, I meant to borrow a laboratory to make something," Jiang Cheng replied.

"Yes, director, Manager Li told us to come here and use this laboratory. We had just entered, when Scientist Xun arrived and accused us of taking his things. When we said we wanted to leave, he wouldn’t let us," Zhao Shuai complained to the director.

"Ah, you’re the boss’s son, right? Zhao Shuai?" The director, having just focused on Jiang Cheng, now noticed Zhao Shuai.

"Ah, so handsome and you just noticed me?" Zhao Shuai said, slightly aggrieved.

"Haha, my mistake. I’m friends with your dad, I’ve held you when you were a child," the director laughed.

At this point, Gou Nian’s face was indescribably dark; he hadn’t expected to mess with someone of this status.

Turning to Gou Nian, the director said, "I actually told you before; you’re no longer suitable to be the Chief Scientist, but I’ve considered our years of association, and your position as the Patriarch of the Hua Clan. But now? You think I don’t see your little maneuvers, accusing someone of stealing your new research so they take the blame, allowing you to remain here a bit longer. Go; don’t tarnish the academy’s reputation anymore, and don’t bring disgrace upon scientists," the director said with disappointment.

"Director, I was wrong. Please forgive me this time. I promise to conduct proper research. Didn’t you say earlier to not remain Chief, so I could still stay in the academy? And now you’re directly expelling me? Director, if I’m driven out like this, I’m afraid I can no longer be Patriarch of the Hua Clan." Gou Nian’s arrogance disappeared, nearly kneeling to beg.

"Did I cause this? You repeatedly pushed yourself into the flames. The other academicians tolerated you due to your past achievements and your status as Patriarch of the Hua Clan. But you used your identity to oppress young scientists, disregarding everyone. Occupying such a large laboratory, living lavishly without focusing on research. Now, no one can save you. Quickly pack up and leave," the director, emotional, turned away from Xun Nian.

"Lin, come here," he said, handing Jiang Cheng a key. "The place has similar conditions and equipment. You can work well without further disruptions."

"Thank you, director," Jiang Cheng sincerely thanked him.

"Well, I’ll be off." The director glanced at Jiang Cheng and Zhao Shuai, then exited without a backward glance at Gou Nian.

Jiang Cheng and Zhao Shuai followed closely behind, while Gou Nian, unable to believe, sat on the ground utterly dejected.

"Lin, brother, I didn’t expect the Hua Clan to fall to such a level within just a few years. It’s deserved, really," Zhao Shuai said while walking.

"No matter what, one must know proper conduct," Jiang Cheng remarked, recalling the state of Gou Nian’s laboratory, considering the truly declining state of Kai Ao Country’s technology.

Once at the laboratory the director provided, Zhao Shuai said he’d wait outside for Jiang Cheng. So, Jiang Cheng entered the lab alone and found it to be a top-notch facility, which would save him time compared to initial expectations. Jiang Cheng took out the Gelan Glue and other materials stored in the Jiezhi Bracelet, using the lab equipment to create the desired medicine within ten minutes. The advanced medicine, Jiang Cheng intended for rapid wound closure, as Gelan Glue is naturally compatible with the human body. Satisfied, Jiang Cheng stored the medicine in the Jiezhi Bracelet. After surveying the laboratory, noticing it indeed had excellent materials and equipment, Jiang Cheng chose not to use the academy’s materials, considering they were still technically academy property. Jiang Cheng left the laboratory.

"You’re done so quickly? Was that just ten minutes?" Zhao Shuai approached Jiang Cheng, saying.

"Yes, the equipment here is excellent. I worked quickly."

"Ah, Lin, brother, you’re too modest. I think your skills are impressive. Look at Xun Nian earlier; he’s had how many years now, eight perhaps? No work produced, yet occupying such a good laboratory," Zhao Shuai said.

"......"

"Eight years? And still the Patriarch of Hua Clan?"

"The Hua Clan lacks talent nowadays. No one qualifies as Patriarch. Now, after Xun Nian returns and people learn he was expelled from the academy and lost his scientist title, with no suitable leader, the Hua Clan is sure to face chaos," Zhao Shuai observed.

As Zhao Shuai’s phone rang again, "Is it Rongfeng?" Zhao Shuai answered, "Rongfeng? What’s wrong?

"What? Cloud is missing? What’s the matter." Zhao Shuai frowned.

Jiang Cheng, hearing this, was equally surprised, watching Zhao Shuai’s increasingly furrowed brows, sensing a potentially complicated situation.

"Lin, brother, Cloud disappeared right after the conference. The entire Ji Family is in a panic," Zhao Shuai hurriedly explained after hanging up.

"What? Did anyone go check the research hall? They mentioned searching but found no clues. However, Rongfeng reported someone saw Cloud last at the Qi Family," Zhao Shuai added.

"The Qi Family?" Jiang Cheng was thoroughly puzzled.

"Indeed, so now Ji Family’s Patriarch leads some people at the Qi Family, accusing them of hiding Cloud and pressing Rongfeng to hand her over."

Zhao Shuai stated.

"This situation sounds bizarre. Let’s have a look too," Jiang Cheng suggested to Zhao Shuai.

"Yes, let’s go to the Qi Family now and investigate."
