Chapter 877: Chapter 877 Jade Refinement Mountain

Jade laughed and chose not to speak. She had seen far too many youthful, spirited young men like this.

Everyone has their youthful days, their days of reckless abandon. Jade didn’t see anything wrong with Lin Shen’s attitude.

If not reckless in youth, should one wait until old age to disrespect elders?

Watching Lin Shen’s confident demeanor, Jade’s mood actually improved a bit.

“Sinister Path is over when it’s over; I am still young, I still have capital, and I can start over again. If this path doesn’t work out, then I’ll switch to another. As long as I persist,” Jade said, looking at Lin Shen’s ascending figure, a smile appearing on her face, “Sinister Path will always exist. But this Jade Refinement Mountain is not so easily harnessed for Nirvana. It’s not a bad thing for young people to suffer a bit.”

Jade slowly made her way up the mountain, no one knew the prowess of Jade Refinement Mountain better than her, for it was there that she had undergone her Nirvana.

...

It was her master who had brought her here back then. Without her master’s help, she wouldn’t have had the ability to achieve Nirvana on Jade Refinement Mountain by herself.

Lin Shen reached the summit and looked at the glowing purple lights inside the mouth of the mountain, resembling a massive energy reactor. His gaze couldn’t penetrate the purple light, and he couldn’t see exactly what was inside.

“This mountain is called Jade Refinement Mountain, nurturing within it a mutation called Jade Figurine, an Immortal Creature. Though it appears scorching, the Attribute here is not of the Fire-series,” Jade, who had walked up, looked at the glowing purple light inside the mountain mouth and spoke.

“Is there really a Jade Series Attribute in the cosmos?” Lin Shen asked, somewhat surprised, not having heard of this Attribute before.

“Of course, the Jade Attribute is rare, but it is also a major classification. It’s just that the formation of the Jade Attribute is very complex, and it’s exceptionally difficult to use it to achieve Nirvana. Therefore, few people possess the Power of Nirvana with Jade Attributes,” Jade said with a smile.

Lin Shen looked at Jade with some amazement. She had been quite irritable before, a stark contrast to her seemingly much improved temper now.

“Do you know how jade is formed?” Jade asked.

“I don’t know,” Lin Shen shook his head slightly.

“Most people only know steel is made through Hundred Refinements but don’t realize that jade is also formed in the same way, yet its process is even more complex than that of steel, and it also involves various random factors. Forged by the heavens and shaped by the earth, it further requires the sedimentation of time. No two jades in the world are exactly the same; this is due to different elements nurturing the jades, each affecting the jade differently. The energy inside this Jade Refinement Mountain is similar; mixed and impure, potentially harboring unexpected elemental Attributes. It’s difficult for one’s body to merge with such chaotic elemental Attributes; thus, undergoing Nirvana here can easily lead to problems,” Jade patiently explained.

Lin Shen didn’t seem to mind, thinking back to his first Nirvana, the chaotic mix of Nirvana Attributes within his body was unimaginable. Could the energy here be more chaotic than last time?

“Thank you for the warning,” Lin Shen thanked Jade and stepped forward, letting himself fall into the crater of the volcano.

Plop!

Lin Shen felt his body plunge into magma, intense heat rushed toward him, completely enveloping his body without leaving any gaps.

The terrifying temperature that could instantaneously melt even steel, however, did nothing to Lin Shen’s body which was comparable to an immortal being; he just felt somewhat warm.

What felt surreal to Lin Shen was that this terrifying heat wasn’t the real energy of the Immortal Land; amid this heat, a hint of coolness entered his body—this was the genuine Base Mutation power of Jade Refinement Mountain.

Outside the body, the high temperature could melt steel, but inside, a chill gradually surged in. Under the mixture of hot and cold, Lin Shen couldn’t help but shiver.

“If you can’t hold on any longer, just call out to me,” Jade Figurine called from outside. “For just a hundred more, I can pull you out.”

“Okay, I’ll call you if I need.” Lin Shen’s head emerged from the hot liquid as he responded to Jade Figurine.

Hearing Lin Shen’s voice, Jade Figurine felt there was no immediate trouble, so she said no more and just waited for Lin Shen to call for help when he couldn’t bear it any longer.

Lin Shen submerged himself back into the liquid, the chill inside him grew stronger, but it did not counteract the scorching heat on the outside. He was getting colder almost to the point of freezing into ice inside, while the outside was blazing hot, as if it would scorch his skin red.

“Jade Figurine said that the energy here is mixed and impure, so why do I only feel this cool energy pouring inside me and not other energies?” Lin Shen pondered in confusion.

Given Jade Figurine’s status and standing, she shouldn’t have given promises that could be immediately disproven, as that would be pointless.

Although confused, the absence of mixed energies was better, and today might just present an opportunity for a second Nirvana.

Evolution Theory inside him operated at high speed, continuously strengthening Lin Shen’s body to adapt to the extreme environment here.

After a while, Lin Shen felt his body was filled with this icy energy, yet his body hadn’t entered the state of Nirvana.

“This is really life-threatening, can it be that I cannot achieve Nirvana after all?” Lin Shen could only continue enduring, hoping it was just a matter of insufficient energy and that the state of Nirvana had not yet begun.

Suddenly, Lin Shen felt as if something had touched him, making all the hairs on his body stand on end.

“There’s something in here… Could it be the Jade Figurine that Jade Figurine mentioned…” Lin Shen dared not move his body; he couldn’t see anything and could only rely on his sense of feeling.

Jade Figurine said this was a mutated Immortal Land, so the Jade Figurines born here were mutated Immortal Creatures, and he wasn’t sure if his body could withstand an attack from such creatures.

However, after waiting a while, Lin Shen didn’t feel the flow of liquid.

“It’s strange, could it be that Jade Figurines absorb the essence of the sun and the moon and aren’t interested in flesh, so they have no interest in my mundane body of flesh and blood?” Lin Shen wondered when suddenly he felt something touch his arm again.

Instinctively, Lin Shen reached out and grabbed, and indeed he caught something.

What Lin Shen grabbed felt slippery, like some kind of soft-bodied animal.

It felt a bit like a snake or octopus, which gave Lin Shen a creepy feeling. He wasn’t sure whether to grip it tightly or let it go.

If he gripped it tightly and didn’t manage to kill it, and it bit back, Lin Shen wasn’t sure he could defend against it.

To let go meant he was blind and clueless, making him more scared and hurt, and he could no longer continue the Nirvana.

Yet, the creature he caught didn’t try to struggle or escape after Lin Shen grabbed it, letting him manipulate it in his hand, which made him uncertain how to proceed.
