Chapter 1923: Chapter 1921: Enduring Buddhist Maxims (1)

[Everyone should seriously read these Chapters, as they provide immense benefits to one’s entire life. Don’t miss out!]

This scene is bound to shock everyone, even shaking the entire Martial Arts World!

If Ye Tianchen hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he would find it hard to believe that the Peacock Great Bright King, a person considered a supreme strong in the Martial Arts World, an absolute overlord figure, once committed the act of master-slaying and actually had such a connection with the Young Buddha!

In the entire Martial Arts World, the Peacock Great Bright King was Buddha’s foremost disciple, a legendary figure and a Guardian God of the Buddhist Sect. His strength was acknowledged by the Buddhist Emperor, demonstrating his formidable nature, truly incomparable to ordinary people. Though the Peacock Great Bright King was part of the Buddhist Sect, everything about him is shrouded in mystery. If the Buddhist Emperor is the most mysterious person in the Buddhist Sect, then the Peacock Great Bright King is the second one!

The Peacock Great Bright King, originally a strong figure within the Demon Clan, whose roar shatters mountains and rivers, whose wings eclipse the heavens and earth, his might is indisputable. Moreover, the Peacock Clan holds a high status within the Demon Clan, being one of the supreme species in the Demon Clan. There has always been a rumor that the Peacock Clan is the descendant of the Immortal Phoenix Clan, and the Immortal Phoenix is an existence comparable to the Immortal Dragon, a true entity of the Immortal World. It’s imaginable how terrifyingly powerful the Peacock Clan is!

Ye Tianchen watched this scene, the Peacock Great Bright King striking down with a palm, seemingly shock-killing the meditating Young Buddha. This scene is truly awe-inspiring, almost unbelievable, and from the anger and disdain in the Peacock Great Bright King’s words, Ye Tianchen gradually understood why the Peacock Great Bright King, such a powerful figure in the Demon Clan, followed the Buddhist Emperor.

Turns out!

Back then, the Peacock Great Bright King enjoyed eating humans. Being a strong figure within the Demon Clan, it was the Ancient Alien Race that usually preyed on the Human Clan. However, the Peacock Great Bright King delighted in eating humans, needing to devour ten people daily to be satisfied, and his targets not only included Human Clan Practitioners but also ordinary humans who met him would be devoured in one bite. Gradually, the ferocious reputation of the Peacock Great Bright King spread among the Demon Clan and Human Clan, and his cannibalistic habit became increasingly strong!

Meanwhile, strong figures from the Human Clan went to battle against the Peacock Great Bright King, attempting to settle this indiscriminating cannibalistic demon, yet none succeeded; the Peacock Great Bright King was simply too powerful. His power seemed innate, almost all Human Clan Practitioners who went to battle him eventually couldn’t escape being eaten.

Until one day, the Peacock Great Bright King went out to eat as usual; wherever he went, not just humans but even many strong Demon Beasts hid away. Because the Peacock Great Bright King was exceedingly dominant, not only did he eat humans, but anything could serve as his food. Even the strong figures of the Ancient Alien Race, once defeated by him, would be devoured!

On this day, the Peacock Great Bright King went out to seek human food and suddenly saw smoke from cooking fires not far away, and he hurriedly charged towards it. Upon seeing a village below with at least several hundred people, he rejoiced, laughing maniacally, saying: "Luck is good today, capturing these several hundred people, at least can eat for several days!"

However, just as the Peacock Great Bright King was about to strike, he suddenly saw a remarkably handsome young man sitting cross-legged on the nearby mountaintop, murmuring to himself. The words he was chanting immediately captivated him, making him stand dumbfounded on the spot, unknowingly listening for a whole hour.

To this day, the Peacock Great Bright King remembers vividly, despite being incredibly complex, it was enough at that moment to captivate him. He still recalls the handsome young man saying:

1. Tranquility comes from within, do not seek outside!

One. Tranquility comes from within, do not seek outside!

Two. Let go of past troubles, do not worry about the future, do not be attached to the present, and your inner peace will arise.

Three. Do not be jealous, do not be greedy, have no selfish desires, and under all circumstances, maintain that inner tranquility—this is noble!

Four. Do not overestimate what you have gained, nor envy others, for you will not achieve a tranquil mind.

Five. When a person savors the beauty of solitude and tranquility, they will not develop fearful psychology or criminal behavior.

2. Desires

Six. The root of pain is desire, whether aiming for joy, revenge, or merely seeking longevity’s **, all lead to pain.

Seven. ** leads to pain, primarily because ** can never be fully satisfied.

Eight. From love desire stems sorrow, from love desire stems fear; those who uproot love desire have neither sorrow nor fear.

3. Bondage

Nine. Being stubborn about one thing (or view) while despising others is vile; wise men call it ’bondage.’

Ten. Those free of greed and hatred face no bondage.

Eleven. Greed is the fiercest fire, hate is the worst obsession, delusion and false views are the toughest nets to escape, love desire is the hardest river to cross.

Twelve. One should discard anger, uproot arrogance, surpass all bondage. Individuals who aren’t attached to mind and matter achieve true tranquility, uninfluenced by external factors.

Thirteen. Wise men say: iron, wood, and ropes aren’t firm bondage; infatuation with jewelry, earrings, and wife is the firmest bondage.

Fourteen. All ** have but a small sweetness, yet hide considerable distress.

Fifteen. Those indulged in love desire resemble rabbits trapped in a cage, fearful, bound by bondage and obsession, enduring long-term pain and torment.

Sixteen. Those trapped by incorrect thoughts, with intense love desires craving sensory pleasures, ** multiplies and grows, hence binding becomes firmer.

4. Insight

Seventeen, Do not make decisions based solely on logic, inference, or the appearance of things.

Eighteen, Only when you know that something is indeed imperfect and wrong, can you remove it. And only when you truly know that something is perfect and right, can you accept and practice it.

Nineteen, To regard the unreal as real, and the real as unreal, and linger in unreal thoughts, one can never reach the realm of truth.

Twenty, A wise person is not easily influenced by the thoughts of others.

Twenty-one, Do not be swayed by any reports, traditions, or rumors.

Twenty-two, Do not gullibly believe hearsay, do not trust rumors, do not absolutely rely on usual books.

Twenty-three, Do not readily trust your own guesses or believe simply because it aligns with your opinions, do not casually trust authority.

Twenty-four, Hastily judging matters is inappropriate. A wise person should clearly see both sides of right and wrong.

5. Aspiration

Twenty-five, May all beings be happy and peaceful, satisfied within!

Twenty-six, Let the infinite love in our hearts spread throughout the world—without any obstacles, resentment, or hostility, regardless of which corner of the universe.

Twenty-seven, May all beings be happy within. Whether seen or unseen by us, whether they are far or nearby, born or yet unborn!

Twenty-eight, As long as one is awake, whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, one should maintain this compassionate heart.

Twenty-nine, May I generously give, eager to help others, wish to be pure in body and mind, upright, simple, innocent, possessing good character, without arising evil thoughts. May I be unselfish, unpossessive, and selflessly sacrifice even the small self. May I be clever and able to communicate the benefits of truth and knowledge to others.

Thirty, May I strive diligently, work hard untiringly. May I be tolerant, able to forgive others’ faults, and keep the promises I set for myself.

Thirty-one, May I be resolute and brave with perseverance and persistence. May I be kind, friendly, full of compassion. May I be humble, peaceful, tranquil, poised, serene. May I walk on the path of perfection and joyfully serve others.

Thirty-two, May all creatures, animals, and humans have no hatred, disease, sorrow, and may they all joyfully protect themselves.

6. Loving-kindness

Thirty-three, Let us treat all beings with infinite love, just as a mother risks her life to protect her only child.

Thirty-four, In this world, never use hatred to cease hatred; hatred can only be ceased by loving-kindness, this is an eternal truth.

Thirty-five, Never deceive others, and never belittle anyone from anywhere. In places filled with anger and malice, let us treat them with loving-kindness, so they are not harmed in the slightest.

Thirty-six, Use loving-kindness to transform hatred, use goodness to transform evil. Use giving to transform stinginess, use truth to transform falsehood.

Thirty-seven, All animals fear punishment, all animals dread death (all animals cherish life). Put yourself in others’ shoes and compare oneself with others. A person should not kill animals or incite others to kill animals.

7. Troubles

Thirty-eight, When a person feels discontent and deliberately pursues, he becomes a slave to craving.

Thirty-nine, Seeking faults in others and easily getting angry, troubles multiply. Moving away from realms without troubles becomes increasingly distanced.

Forty, Intelligent people do not long for the future, nor regret the past.

Forty-one, Victors attract resentment, losers live in distress. Those at peace abandon victory and defeat, thus are peaceful and happy.

Forty-two, Often think about the origins of troubles, skilfully restrain one’s senses, moderate eating, filled with confidence and vigor, one is not easily defeated by evil demons, akin to a mountain rock unmoved by wind.

Forty-three, Often this situation occurs: when a person experiences poor medical treatment, he distrusts even good doctors.

Forty-four, Through faith, good virtues, effort, meditation, and observation of truth experiences, understanding and practice proceed simultaneously, often engaging in correct thinking, can eliminate great troubles.
