Chapter 1617: Chapter 1617: Carrying Her Down the Mountain

Willow Crawford had spoken up, and Morgan Ashworth reluctantly glanced at the little dumpling, then squatted down and patted his own back. "Get on."

The little dumpling flailed his hands and feet in excitement and nimbly climbed onto Daddy’s back. He was finally getting to ride the big horse.

Morgan Ashworth stood up, and the little dumpling was suddenly taller than Daddy. He was able to reach the bright red cherries.

The three of them played for a long time. Without realizing it, the sun had already gone down. Morgan said, "We should head out. They’ll be closing soon."

"Okay."

Going up the mountain was easy, coming down was hard. Willow was a woman, and her stamina was starting to give out. Her legs felt so sore she could barely move.

"Mommy, why aren’t you walking? Are you too tired to go on?" the little dumpling asked with concern.

Willow sat down on a big rock to rest for a bit. "I really can’t walk anymore. How about you two go first, I’ll catch up with you later."

"No, I want to stay with Mommy. My mommy is so pretty—what if someone tries to steal her from me?" the little dumpling said sweetly.

Willow burst out laughing on the spot. Her son’s emotional intelligence was off the charts; he really knew how to coax girls. In the future he might very well turn into a little flirt.

Just then Morgan walked over. He looked at Willow—there was already a sheen of fragrant sweat on her fair forehead, and her small face was tinged with pink, looking so dewy and tender it seemed you could squeeze water out of it. He said, "Want me to carry you?"

Carry?

Morgan pointed at his own back. "Come on, I’ll carry you."

"Yeah, yeah, Mommy hurry up and get on, let Daddy carry you."

Willow really didn’t want him to carry her. It felt a bit inappropriate somehow. But thinking about how it would be dark soon, and how she truly had no strength left to walk down, she could only let him carry her. This was the only way out.

Willow placed her small hands a bit stiffly on his shoulders. Morgan effortlessly hitched her up on his back, and the family of three started down the mountain.

Morgan could feel her deliberately trying to keep some distance behind him, and her whole body was stiff. "Willow, put your arms around my neck."

"...No!"

Morgan’s lips curled, and then he suddenly sped up and started running down the mountain.

The sudden downward momentum made Willow feel like she was about to fall. She let out a frightened scream and immediately threw her arms around Morgan’s neck, hugging him very tightly.

"Willow, your mouth is always so dishonest, but your body is very honest. Saying you won’t hold on to me, yet your arms are tighter than anyone’s," Morgan mocked her.

Willow’s face flushed red. She quickly balled her fist and thumped him once. "Morgan Ashworth, you did that on purpose!"

Morgan let out a low, teasing chuckle.

Willow couldn’t help thinking their son really took after him—born to be a flirt.

...

The three of them finally made it out, but it was already very late. It was too rushed to try and get back home, so they looked for an inn nearby.

Because it was a tourist area, all the inns were packed. The front desk clerk said, "I’m sorry, at the moment we only have one room left. We can’t give you two."

Willow had intended to book two rooms—one for her and her son, and one for Morgan.

Now that there was only one room left, Willow froze. "One room definitely won’t do, we need two."

The clerk looked at them. "Aren’t you three a family? One room is enough."

Willow, "..."

"Anyway, we only have one room. If you want it, take it. If not, you’ll have to try somewhere else."

Morgan said, "We’ll take it. We’ll stay in that one."
