Chapter 950: The Pompous King
"I am glad I was here to witness your journey."
Jason clicked his tongue in irritation when Cerci said this.
"If you keep talking like that, I’ll smack the shit out of you. Grab your things, let’s go."
Jason turned to leave the room, but someone suddenly burst through the door!
"Lord Jason! There’s been a problem!"
Jason’s eyes narrowed, and Juliet stepped forward immediately and asked what the issue was! As the director of operations at the Monarch Guild, Juliet was the one responsible for handling any issues that came up here! The worker turned to Juliet and spoke quickly.
"We received a transportation request from a parallel world, and the requester is demanding to meet with Lord Jason immediately! He said he is from a Sovereign world known as L’horm and he is here to see the overlord for a serious matter."
Jason couldn’t help his surprise when he heard this! Wasn’t this the same person that they had just been talking about? Juliet immediately told the worker to keep the requester busy until they got there, and the worker nodded as she quickly left. Juliet asked Jason if he wanted to speak to the ruler now, and Jason thought about it for a moment before he nodded.
"Yeah, we’re already going to L’horm, so it wouldn’t hurt to get the full story before we leave."
Jason walked out of the room with Juliet and Cerci following behind him, and they passed many agents who all greeted him respectfully while moving out of the way. There were multiple wolves and bear subordinates that Jason had given to his guild members wandering the halls, and they all let out cute cries and ran towards Jason as he passed them. Jason just put his hand out and ran it over their noses with a small smile before waving goodbye as he continued on his way.
The interdimensional travel room was located on the highest floor of the Monarch Guild building, and Jason took the elevator up before he walked out to the sound of someone screaming in an angry voice!
"I WANT TO SEE THE OVERLORD NOW! BRING HIM HERE! THIS CANNOT STAND! I HAVE BEEN TO FIVE DIFFERENT WORLDS ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE, AND NO ONE HAS GIVEN ME ANYTHING SATISFACTORY! WHAT IS THE USE OF PAYING MY TAXES IF I CANNOT REQUEST AID IN TIMES OF NEED!?"
The voice was a high-pitched male voice that annoyed Jason in a way he couldn’t even describe! Even if the man hadn’t been shouting, Jason felt like he would still hate listening to that voice! It was speaking another language, but there was a rune sequence on this building that allowed every registered race to understand each other, so it sounded like he was speaking English. Many agents were standing around and watching the scene of the screaming man with anxious looks on their faces, but once they all saw Jason appearing from the elevator, they quickly began to move to carry out their assigned tasks once again!
The room Jason walked into was a large white room that took up the entire floor. The floor was laid with grey ceramic tiles, and there were multiple bright white lights shining on the ceiling and illuminating the whole room. In the center of the room was a large circular platform that looked like a gigantic hockey puck. The platform had hundreds of lines of the Aruna language written along its entire surface, and this was the stage where anyone wishing to go out of or come into the country would have to pass! Of course, there were still some people who could leave and enter the country from any location, like Jason and Gina, but anyone who wasn’t registered in the system would have to pass through here.
There was a magical telecommunicator with a holographic screen attached to the circular platform, and Azrael had put that there as a way for anyone wishing to enter this world to send a message stating their identity and reason for requesting entry!
But right now, all the agents in charge of handling the interworld travel system were busy trying to calm the person who was screaming at the top of his lungs!
It was a tall man with a strong build and a feminine face. He wore long robes that looked like something you would see on someone from the Murim era, with many expensive pieces of jewelry on his neck and arms, and a golden crown on his head. Behind the man were multiple guards who were wearing full red leather armor and carrying long spears, and a small distance away from the man was a younger-looking woman with a face that anyone would call pretty. Right now, she was standing with a prideful air around her, with two guards standing on either side of her. Most people would think that the guards were there to protect her, but Jason couldn’t help but think that the guards were actually there to prevent her from running away.
"What in the world is going on here!?"
Juliet finally spoke loudly to draw attention toward herself, and all the workers and visitors in the room immediately looked toward Jason. Jason had a calm look on his face as he watched the scene play out, and the man who had been screaming seemed to perk up the moment he saw Jason!
"Overlord Jason! I’ve been asking about you for a long time! These pathetic peasants wouldn’t bring me to you for some reason. I’m glad you recognized the importance of our meeting. My name is Vanix L’horm, and I have come to demand your aid in liberating my world from the clutches of evil!"
’Wow, he sounds just like the young masters from my sect.’
Jason couldn’t help but scoff when he heard Esdath speak up from his Alternate Dimension, and Jason responded in amusement.
’You know he sounds just like you, right?’
’How dare you!? I sound nothing like this fool! He looks like he wouldn’t be able to clean his own behind without someone helping him! I will not allow you to compare me to this—’
Jason rolled his eyes and shut down his connection with Esdath when it looked like Esdath was about to go on a rant. Jason wasn’t interested in listening to all that! Jason tuned back to Vanix as Vanix spoke up pompously!
"Lord Jason, are you even listening to me!? This is of the utmost importance! Those usurpers have been in control of my world for multiple months now! The amount of damage they must’ve done is incalculable! You cannot allow this to stand!"
"If you wish to speak to me, then I suggest you calm down first. I’ll listen to you when you’ve gained some control over your emotions."
This was the only thing Jason said to Vanix, and Jason watched as Vanix’s head began to turn red from anger! It was obvious that Vanix did not expect Jason to talk to him like that, but Jason wasn’t interested in listening to some screaming idiot! Vanix looked like he was about to explode any minute now, but Jason was impressed when Vanix finally seemed to calm down a bit, and he let out a small sigh and spoke through gritted teeth.
"I am now perfectly calm, Lord Jason. I request an audience."
Jason scoffed in amusement when he saw how hard Vanix was trying not to lash out, but Jason decided that this was good enough, and he spoke to Juliet and Cerci as he turned to walk out.
"Take care of the others while I speak to King Vanix, and prepare enough supplies for a long journey. I’ll be back soon. Follow me."
Jason said that last part to Vanix, and Vanix nodded as he followed behind Jason. The L’horm guards looked like they wanted to follow their king, but Cerci raised a hand and told them to stay back. Jason said he wanted to speak to the king alone, so the guards weren’t allowed to join!
