Chapter 870: A Merciful Death
The mysterious man called himself Ghost, and apparently, Ghost was a member of an underground organization that had ties with multiple other worlds across the Primordial Expanse! Ghost told the Supreme Leader that there was a world out there called the Machina that had a serious grudge against Jason, and the Machina wanted to get revenge! The Machina had both the raw power and the intelligence to kill Jason, but they needed to catch Jason at a point when he let his guard down! If they could do that, then Jason wouldn’t stand a chance!
It had been the perfect opportunity for the Supreme Leader to get rid of all his problems! The Supreme Leader was the sort of man who did not like the idea of change! He had once been a very powerful man, and he knew that if Jason implemented the new world order that he was planning to, then his power would drastically reduce! The Supreme Leader was ready to do anything to hold onto the power he once had!
So the Supreme Leader had kept an ear out for Jason’s movements and plans, and the moment the Supreme Leader heard that Jason was going to be visiting his family in Texas for a picnic, the Supreme Leader realised that this was the perfect opportunity to strike! If Jason was with his family, then not only would he let his guard down, but he would also be incapable of using his more destructive abilities since it would definitely affect the regular humans around! This was exactly what the Supreme Leader needed to kill Jason once and for all! The Supreme Leader had sent the information about where Jason would be and when the Machina needed to strike to Ghost, and the Supreme Leader had waited patiently to get the news of Jason’s death.
But everything had gone down the drain when the Supreme Leader learnt that not only did Jason survive the attack, but Jason also killed every single Machina that attacked him! The Machina didn’t even manage to kill a single one of Jason’s family members! What sort of bullshit was this!
’And now this fool isn’t picking my calls anymore!’
The Supreme Leader grit his teeth as he pulled on his hair angrily! Ghost had gone off the grid immediately the plan failed, and the Supreme Leader couldn’t help but think that he had been used! Ghost had just gotten information off him, and now he just discarded him like it was nothing! The Supreme Leader let out a harsh breath, and he stared at the ground while trying to bring his mind under control. Things weren’t completely lost yet! It wasn’t completely lost! Even though the Supreme Leader had been part of the plan to attack Jason, there was no one else who knew about his involvement other than Ghost. Jason didn’t know who sent the information, and all the Supreme Leader needed to do was to act like nothing ever happened.
"Yes... yes, I’m overreacting. No one knows anything. So I’m fine."
"No one knows what."
"EEEEKKK!!"
The Supreme Leader screamed as he heard a rough voice coming from behind him, and he jumped into the air from the shock! The Supreme Leader turned around sharply, and he felt his heart rate rise to unhealthy levels as he saw Jason sitting at his desk while looking through a file calmly. Jason hummed as he read through a particular file, and the Supreme Leader swallowed as he tried desperately to calm his heart.
"L-Lord Jason. I didn’t know you would be visiting today."
The Supreme Leader put on a fake smile as he greeted Jason pleasantly, and Jason looked up from the files for a moment before looking back down again.
"I was just in the area, so I thought I’d stop by. How are things going with the Monarch Guild branch here? Any issues lately?"
The Supreme Leader seemed to regain some of his calmness when Jason started asking about the Monarch Guild, and he swallowed before saying that everything was going fine.
"The guild branch is nearly completed, and we’re expected to finish before the end of the month."
Jason hummed, and he flipped the page. There was a strange calmness around Jason right now that was putting the Supreme Leader on edge, but Jason didn’t look like someone who came here for revenge, and the Supreme Leader took that as a good sign. Jason spoke up again to ask another question.
"Your presidential election is coming up soon, right? I saw a lot of campaign posters around when I was coming in."
The Supreme Leader was surprised by this question, but he still nodded. His country was going to be carrying out an election soon, but everyone knew it was only a farce. The Supreme Leader had never lost an election even once, so he was already certain of his victory. Jason nodded, and he closed the file before speaking with a smile.
"I’d like you to announce your resignation from office and drop out of the presidential race."
"What?"
"You heard me."
Jason’s eyes narrowed, and the Supreme Leader stumbled back as a sudden pressure pressed down on him!
Jason stood from his seat and walked out from behind the table slowly, and the Supreme Leader fell onto one knee as the pressure threatened to crush him! Jason looked down at the pathetic man kneeling before him, and he spoke in a terrifyingly calm voice.
"Did you really think I wouldn’t find out what you did?"
"!"
The Supreme Leader shook when he heard this question, and he tried to stammer out a response, but the pressure pressing down on him was just too intense, and he could only squeeze out one word.
"P-Please!"
Jason stared down at the Supreme Leader with disgust. Jason already knew that the Supreme Leader was useless to him. The Supreme Leader was just a fool who allowed his greed and hatred to control him. Jason found the Ghost that the Supreme Leader had given the information to earlier, and it turned out that Ghost had also been mentally manipulated, just like the Machina. But unlike Ghost and the Machina, the Mind Art’s user hadn’t manipulated the Supreme Leader because the Mind Art’s user knew that Jason was keeping a close eye on the Supreme Leader. Everything the Supreme Leader did was out of his own desire to kill Jason!
Jason crouched in front of the Supreme Leader and spoke in a terrifyingly calm voice.
"I understand you were desperate to hold onto your power, and if you had simply come after me, then maybe we would be having a very different conversation. But you went after my family. You were willing to give out the location of my family’s home for your stupid ambition, and that is something I cannot forgive."
The Leader struggled to look up into Jason’s eyes as Jason continued.
"I am trying to create a new world here, and I will not have the death of a president stain its legacy. So I am giving you twenty-four hours. You will announce your resignation from your seat and drop out of the next election. You will then go on a solo cruise to relax after serving your country faithfully for so long. And on that cruise, you will die."
The Supreme Leader’s eyes widened in shock, and he felt his heart beat even faster when he saw the sheer emotionlessness on Jason’s face! It took a very special kind of person to say something so ominous to a man with such a straight face, and the Supreme Leader realised in that moment that he had messed with someone who was far more twisted than he thought!
