Chapter 403: Chapter 402: The Three Mountain Peaks
The next moment he was gone.
Virtil’s pupils contracted.
Danger.
An instinctive warning erupted inside his mind.
The old knight immediately scanned the battlefield.
Yet he couldn’t find him.
Where?
Then suddenly—
Rip.
Space behind the falling Mhazul tore open like paper.
A black crack appeared in midair. Zurrak casually stepped out of it.
The battlefield froze.

Many human experts felt chills run down their spines.
What kind of ability was that?
Even Virtil’s expression became grave.
He had sensed absolutely nothing.
Zurrak grabbed Mhazul by the shoulder before he could crash into the ground.
Then another spatial tear appeared.
Rip.
Both vanished instantly. The entire process lasted less than a second.
Silence spread across the battlefield.
Several human generals exchanged uneasy looks.
The enemy army possessed too many monsters.
Too many unknown monsters. And every one of them seemed terrifying.
Moments later...
Another spatial tear appeared beside Alix’s carriage.
Rip.
Zurrak stepped out, still carrying Mhazul.
The giant Bloodgnarl looked miserable.
His body was covered in blood, half-conscious.
Yet the moment he saw Alix. His grin returned.
"Hahaha..."
"I almost had him, my lord."
Several nearby generals immediately rolled their eyes.
Verila snorted.
"Almost had him?"
"You got beaten half to death."
Mhazul just grinned.
Even Sorin shook her head helplessly.
Karnessa covered her mouth and laughed softly.
Alix stepped forward, he looked at Mhazul’s injuries. Then at the battlefield behind them.
Finally, he nodded.
"You did well."
The simple words made Mhazul freeze.
For a moment, the giant warrior simply stared.
Then he laughed.
A genuine laugh, Not because of the battle, or the praise.
But because he could hear the approval in Alix’s voice.
For someone like Mhazul, that meant more than victory.
The Bloodgnarl lowered his head.
"Thank you, My Lord."
Alix placed a hand on his shoulder. A wave of healing energy flowed into Mhazul’s body. And his wounds immediately began closing.
Not fully.
But enough to stabilize him.
Alix smiled slightly.
"You proved your strength."
His gaze then shifted toward the distant battlefield.
The war continued raging. Explosions shook the earth. Spells illuminated the sky.
Countless soldiers fought and died every second.
Yet Alix’s attention was elsewhere. His eyes narrowed slightly.
"This is strange."
The nearby generals looked toward him.
Sorin stepped forward.
"What is it, Your Majesty?"
Alix folded his arms.
His gaze drifted toward the capital walls.
More specifically, toward the experts defending them.
Virtil was there.
Charles was there.
Numerous Tier 6 generals were there.
Yet three people were missing.
Three people who should have appeared long ago.
"The three Marshals."

The surrounding generals immediately understood.
Alix continued.
"They still haven’t shown themselves."
His voice remained calm. But his eyes became thoughtful.
"Three Quasi-Tier 7 experts."
"In a battle that will determine the fate of thier kingdom."
"And yet they remain absent."
Sorin nodded slightly.
"I’ve noticed it as well."
Karnessa crossed her arms.
"Perhaps they’re waiting for an opportunity."
Alix shook his head.
"No."
"If they intended to fight, they would have appeared already."
A faint smile appeared on Sorin’s face.
"Then it seems the reports were correct."
Alix looked at her.
Sorin spoke calmly.
"Looks like they’ve fled, Your Majesty."
Several generals laughed. Even Verila smirked.
"Smart people."
"At least they know when they’re outmatched."
Mhazul immediately snorted.
The giant Bloodgnarl was still recovering from his injuries.
"Cowards."
"If I were a Quasi-Tier 7, I’d fight."
Verila rolled her eyes.
"You just enjoy getting beaten up."
Mhazul grinned.
"That’s not the point."
The others ignored him.
Meanwhile, Alix raised his head. Far beyond the battlefield.
Three enormous mountain peaks stood in the distance.
Like three giant spears piercing the heavens.
Their summits were hidden among the clouds.
According to Zurrak’s intelligence reports...
The three Marshals resided there.
Each occupied one mountain.
Each controlled their own territory.
Alix quietly observed the distant peaks, then he thought,
Let’s see if they truly left.
The next moment, he turned toward Morgro.
The giant looked back. "You need something, My Lord?"
Alix nodded.
"I’m going to investigate."
Morgro immediately understood.
His expression remained calm.
"Leave the battlefield to me, my lord."
There wasn’t the slightest concern in his voice.
Because he knew exactly what he was capable of.
Even if every enemy expert attacked simultaneously, Morgro was more than capable of handling the situation.
Alix nodded.
"I’ll leave command to you."
Morgro placed a fist against his chest.
The surrounding generals weren’t worried either.
If Morgro remained here, there was nothing to fear.
Alix took one final glance toward the battlefield.
Then, he disappeared.
Far away atop the city wall, Virtil suddenly frowned.
A strange feeling appeared inside his heart.
As if something dangerous had vanished from the battlefield.

His eyes immediately searched for Alix. Then his expression changed.
Gone.
The mysterious ruler had disappeared.
Meanwhile, thousands of kilometers away.
High above the first mountain peak.
Space distorted, and a figure stepped out.
Alix calmly looked around. Cold mountain winds howled through the air. Ancient pine trees covered the slopes below.
The peak itself was enormous. Large enough to contain an entire fortress.
Countless buildings could be seen among the cliffs.
Training grounds, courtyards, pavilions, and stone pathways.
Several mountain ridges had completely vanished.
As though someone had cut them away.
Even Alix could tell how intense the battle must have been.
At the center of the ruins, he found another pool of dried blood.
This one was even larger than before.
Enough blood to drain several Tier 6 experts dry.
Yet nothing remained.
Almost as though the dead had simply vanished.
Alix remained silent.
The more he investigated, the stranger things became.
If the three Marshals had simply fled, why was there evidence of a massive battle?
And if they had fought...
Then where were the bodies?
Alix stood silently in the middle of the ruined mountain fortress. Cold winds swept across the shattered peak, carrying with them the faint scent of blood that still lingered in the air. Around him, destruction stretched as far as the eye could see.
Entire buildings had collapsed.
Stone pavilions had been reduced to rubble.
Ancient towers that had likely stood for centuries now lay broken across the mountainside.
Massive cracks ran through the earth like giant scars.
Several sections of the mountain itself had been blasted away, leaving behind jagged cliffs and deep ravines.
This wasn’t the result of a simple skirmish.
This was the aftermath of a battle between powerful experts.
Alix slowly crouched beside a large pool of dried blood.
His fingers lightly touched the dark crimson stain.
The blood still contained traces of powerful energy.
Tier 6.
Perhaps even Quasi-Tier 7.
His eyes slowly swept across the ruined fortress.
Then he disappeared.
A moment later, he arrived at the second mountain peak.
The scene that greeted him was nearly identical.
The entire mountain looked as though it had been struck by a natural disaster.
The defensive walls surrounding the fortress had been completely flattened.
Thousands of stone blocks were scattered across the mountainside.
Several giant craters stretched hundreds of meters wide.
The surrounding forest got burned.
Alix stopped near what appeared to be the central hall.
Half of the structure had collapsed.
The remaining half barely remained standing.
A massive slash mark cut directly through the building.
The strike had split the hall from roof to foundation.
Even now, traces of powerful sword intent lingered in the air.
Alix could tell immediately.
A Quasi-Tier 7 had made that attack. Perhaps one of the Marshals again. Alix remained silent for several moments.
Then he vanished once more. The third mountain peak appeared before him.
The moment he arrived, his expression finally changed.
Because this mountain was in even worse condition than the previous two.
Entire sections of the mountain no longer existed.
Massive cliffs had collapsed into the valleys below.
Gigantic fissures stretched across the earth for dozens of kilometers.
Several portions of the mountain had been completely split apart, leaving behind enormous canyons that cut through the peak like wounds.
Only scattered fragments of stone remained.
Even the strongest defensive formations had been obliterated.

For a few moments, Alix remained motionless. The wind howled around him.
His gaze slowly lifted toward the horizon. Then he closed his eyes.
A moment later...
His senses exploded outward.
BOOM!
Invisible spiritual perception spread across the mountain range.
Ten kilometers.
Fifty kilometers.
One hundred kilometers.
Two hundred kilometers.
His senses continued expanding.
Like an invisible ocean swallowing everything in its path.
