Chapter 262: Chapter 224: Solving the Last 100-Meter Delivery Problem! Zhang Xuhao: Don’t Think of Seizing Power
Dim yellow streetlights illuminated the narrow alleys where Kuai Pao’s Hu City headquarters was tucked away.
Beneath the night sky, the Yiyuan Office Building remained ablaze with lights.
"Go get the heads of all the departments. The boss will be here any minute!"
Pei Yi lowered his phone and instructed Kou Zhen.
’Why is the boss showing up so suddenly?’
Kou Zhen was taken aback for a moment, but he quickly snapped out of it. With a nod, he summoned the supervisors from the Operations, Market, and Delivery departments, then followed Pei Yi downstairs to wait at the main entrance.
Not long after, a black-and-white Gusteau suddenly turned into the alley, finally stopping in front of Pei Yi and the others.
With a soft electronic whir, the car door slowly opened.
"Boss," Pei Yi and Kou Zhen greeted him quickly.
The other mid-level managers bowed slightly, greeting him with wide smiles.
"You’ve all worked hard. Once you’ve driven Eleme out of Hu City, I’ll issue stock options to every Kuai Pao employee. So keep up the great work!"
Chen Yansen got out of the car, patting Pei Yi’s shoulder in encouragement.
"Thank you, Boss. Eleme is now down to just the Jing’an and Yangpu district markets. Xuhui and Hongkou are our territory."
Pei Yi chuckled. Kuai Pao’s market expansion was progressing more smoothly than he had imagined, and he’d lost his earlier wariness of Eleme and Zhang Xuhao.
"Don’t get complacent! Since Ah Li has invested in Eleme, they definitely won’t let it go down without a fight."
Reading his thoughts, Chen Yansen added a warning.
"I understand, Boss." Pei Yi’s smile faded, and he replied with a serious expression.
"Let’s talk inside."
Chen Yansen headed inside.
Seeing this, Kou Zhen hurried forward a few steps, swiped a keycard on the machine at the entrance, and a frosted glass door slid open.
Yiyuan covered an area of 2,300 square meters and consisted of three separate buildings labeled A, B, and C. Just inside the entrance was a crystal-clear pond where dozens of colorful koi swam, surrounded by lush greenery and clusters of flowers.
"This place is nice. Much better than the Luzhou Headquarters," Chen Yansen praised with a smile as he casually glanced around.
"Boss, Building A is on your left. It has six floors, each 600 square meters, and the top floor comes with a rooftop terrace. Building B is a single story with 400 square meters of office space, currently serving as our reception area, interview rooms, and conference hall. The two-story building up ahead is Building C, which is also the employee cafeteria."
Pei Yi explained as he walked alongside him.
"Did you hire chefs?" Chen Yansen asked.
"Building C is too small, and since Yiyuan is in a residential area, there was no way we could get a fire safety permit. So, we had the Investment Attraction Department select a few suppliers with good menus to deliver meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner."
Pei Yi explained.
Chen Yansen nodded slightly, his gaze shifting to the parking lot. There were twenty parking spaces, but only three were occupied. An empty area next to it had also been set up as a basketball court.
"Boss, have you eaten dinner yet?" Pei Yi asked tentatively.
’It’s already 6:30. The boss is probably just passing through Hu City on business, or maybe he just got off the highway. It’s very likely he hasn’t had dinner.’
"What time does the cafeteria start serving?" Chen Yansen asked casually.
"Six," Pei Yi replied with a dry laugh, then quickly suggested, "There’s a Hunan restaurant nearby that’s pretty good."
"No need for that. Let’s just order delivery."
Chen Yansen said nonchalantly, pointing to the open area by the parking lot.
Placing a few random orders would not only support his own platform’s business but also allow him to test Kuai Pao’s delivery efficiency in Hu City.
’Out here?’
Pei Yi was stunned for a moment, but he quickly understood his boss’s intention. Not daring to object, he hurried to call over the guards on duty at the back gate and had them bring out some tables and chairs from Building C.
The early spring night air was cool, stirred by a gentle breeze.
After sitting down, Chen Yansen handed his phone to Song Yuncheng. "Order whatever you feel like eating. And place several different orders."
"Is hot pot okay? I see there’s a Haidilao nearby," Song Yuncheng asked quietly.
"Sure," Chen Yansen replied. Then he turned to Pei Yi and Kou Zhen. "Have a seat. Don’t be so formal."
"Yes, Boss." After a moment’s thought, Pei Yi sat diagonally opposite Chen Yansen, leaving a space between himself and Song Yuncheng.
Seeing this, Kou Zhen had no choice but to sit next to Song Yuncheng.
Neither of them dared to sit directly beside their boss, but sitting too close to Song Yuncheng made both Pei Yi and Kou Zhen extremely nervous.
They were both smart enough to see that the relationship between the boss and Pinbei’s Director of Key Accounts was not a simple one.
Otherwise, why was Song Yuncheng always with the boss every time they saw him?
If Song Yuncheng’s title were Assistant to the Chairman of Senlian Capital, it would be understandable. But she was Pinbei’s Business Director!
Chen Yansen flickered his gaze, seeing right through their thoughts in an instant, but he didn’t care.
As long as he was powerful enough, even if Pei Yi and Kou Zhen knew perfectly well what was going on, they wouldn’t dare gossip behind his back.
"I ordered hot pot, Hunan food, braised snacks, milk tea, and beer, placing orders with five different shops. It should be enough for twenty people."
Ten minutes later, Song Yuncheng handed the phone back.
"Cloud Speed’s headquarters is on Yishan Road, which isn’t far from here. Get Liao Wei over here."
Chen Yansen said to Pei Yi as he took the phone back.
For a while now, Cloud Speed Couriers had been helping Kuai Pao ease their delivery pressure. And since they all worked for the same boss, Pei Yi and Liao Wei had gotten to know each other pretty well.
"I’ll give President Liao a call, then," Pei Yi said. He stood, walked to the side, found Liao Wei’s number, and dialed.
