Chapter 898: Part 2: Sweet News

Head Harold’s Office

"Head Harold, how did this happen?" Jeremy asked.

Head Harold expected the question, so he didn’t say anything. He started recounting the things said by Elder John.

Ten minutes later,

A look of understanding dawned on Jeremy Night. He didn’t expect the casualty numbers to be this high. The students there were selected through the genius list.

His own name was recommended as well, but it was rejected in the end. Yet, he didn’t expect that by a twist of fate, he would be selected as the replacement.

Jeremy calmed his turbulent heart. Though it was a pity that a lot of people had died, he wanted to use this opportunity to grow. He could provide better resources to the lifeline beast.

The unknown beast egg hadn’t shown any sign of hatching. It had been consuming resources like a bottomless pit.

Maybe he could do something after going to the special base. He had heard that rare resources were given to the students there.

"Jeremy Night," Harold called out his name.

Jeremy recovered from his thoughts and looked at him.

"Head," he uttered.

"It appears you are lost in thought. I’m happy for you, but there are challenges as well. Do you remember the incident at the Edith Store?" Harold asked in a solemn tone.

Hearing that, Jeremy Night’s eyes flickered. How could he forget the rude behavior of the beast tamers?

"From your reaction, I can tell that you didn’t forget. The special base is full of such people. Maybe this time the base will add a few people from a humble background."

"But you will come across rude people, mostly. Try not to fall for their provocation or traps; the special base is useful to you."

"By using the resources available there, your strength will grow up to Tier-4 quickly," Harold explained patiently.

He thought Jeremy Night was young. He might be facing such people for the first time, so it would be easy to fall into their traps.

Jeremy Night sighed inwardly. He could understand the worries of Head Harold, but he was not that weak.

"Don’t worry, Head. I will take care of myself. My goal is to grow stronger. I won’t waste time on other things," Jeremy assured him.

Head Harold nodded his head in satisfaction. Then they discussed a few other things. Head Harold shared the information of a few of his friends.

They were based in the 4th Zone. Since Jeremy Night was going to stay in the special base, Harold thought travel to both the 4th zone and 5th zone would be frequent in the future.

He thought the contacts of these few people would be helpful.

Jeremy Night didn’t reject it. He accepted the contacts, but he was not happy in his heart. He knew the rude behavior of those people. He thought the others would be the same as well.

But he didn’t say it to save Head Harold’s face. After the discussion, he left the office. He then went back to his room.

Head Harold had told him to stay put for two days. Elder John could come here before the said time.

Jeremy Night didn’t want to disappoint him, so he decided to focus on his practice.

Time passed,

He started practicing the blade moves. He was using the "Shadow Slash" move repeatedly.

After fighting against the corrupted beasts in the wilderness, he had found out a few shortcomings. He was practicing to reduce those shortcomings.

As time passed, his movements became fluid. The drawing of the blade became fast. He swung the blade in the air. The blade moved in midair swiftly.

After spending some time on the blade moves, he then changed to the Feather Steps. He started using footwork practice.

As time passed, he changed directions with agility. He was comfortable changing direction, but he thought it lacked some acceleration.

He continued using the Feather Steps. The doubts in his heart got cleared. A bold idea came to his heart. The "Explosive Steps" used the method of sudden acceleration.

He thought, what if he could use that concept in the Feather Steps movement method? He thought the idea was feasible. But before that, he decided to completely master the Feather Steps first.

That evening, he ended his practice. He went towards the bath to take a shower. He spent 20 minutes in the bath.

He then walked out and changed into fresh clothes. He decided to take an evening walk. He left the room and went to the lobby.

There were people in the lobby. The sitting area was crowded with people. He glanced at them before leaving the building.

He then started walking along the path. He didn’t know what Sister Melinda was doing right now. After coming to the back garden, he phoned Sister Melinda.

Sister Melinda answered the call.

"Sister Melinda, where are you?" he asked.

"I’m in my room," she replied.

"Sister, I have something important to tell you. I’m in the back garden right now," he replied.

"Alright, I’m coming," she said.

Hearing that, he ended the call and began to wait for her.

Meanwhile,

There were other members who were walking past. They noticed that Jeremy Night was alone here. At this point, everyone was aware of Jeremy Night.

There was not one person in the organization who didn’t know him. Everyone knew that Jeremy Night had the strength to fight across tiers. They had long since stopped looking down at him.

It didn’t take long for Sister Melinda to come by. She walked up to him.

"What is it?" she asked.

Her eyes were filled with curiosity. She knew Jeremy Night won’t call without an important reason.

Hearing that, Jeremy Night said, "I’m going to the special base in the 4th zone."

"What?" she exclaimed in surprise.

She had heard of the special base as well. It was the genius camp. They were the future pillars of the Human Alliance. Many wanted to enter the camp.

But only the most talented students were recruited to the camp early.

She didn’t expect how Jeremy Night got the opportunity.

Jeremy saw her questioning gaze. He didn’t know whether to tell her or not. He then revealed a partial truth.

"They were short on numbers. They added my name after hearing about my contributions," Jeremy Night said.
