Chapter 339: Chapter 339: This Is Premium Goods
He didn’t continue speaking.
By this point, the words were already heart-wrenching, and the meaning was sufficiently clear.
Elias Langley’s back subtly tensed for an instant, with his deep voice carrying a hint of tremor, almost without thought.
"In my eyes, she is always clean."
Having said this, he continued to stride away.
Sebastian Sinclair watched his back, nodding slightly, knowing he had not misjudged him.
He turned his head to look at Old Mr. Sinclair on the ground.
"Caleb, take Grandpa to the police station on charges of human trafficking."
Old Mr. Sinclair was greatly shocked.
"Sebastian, I’m your father. If I go to jail, it will bring shame upon the Sinclair Family, you..."
"So you know your actions would bring shame to the Sinclairs, and yet you did them. Why should I cover up your illegal deeds?"
Old Mr. Sinclair trembled all over, his mind filled with arguments but stuck in his throat, finally shouting frantically: "I’m over seventy, the police won’t sentence me, I have immunity..."
Caleb immediately ordered someone to gag Old Mr. Sinclair and personally escorted him to the police station to explain the situation.
Only Florence Sinclair was left in the courtyard.
Since witnessing Elias Langley’s method of interrogating Old Mr. Sinclair, she remained silent.
Of course, it was out of fear.
"Take Ruby Newton back to the utility room and lock her up," said Sebastian Sinclair.
Florence Sinclair’s breath stalled.
Ruby Newton was the name she used at the orphanage before entering the Sinclair Family.
Sebastian Sinclair calling her that meant stripping her of her status as the Second Miss Sinclair.
She was about to crawl over, grab Sebastian Sinclair’s pant leg, and plead for mercy, but then she heard him continue to instruct the butler without any emotion.
"Every day, give her some medicine, let her intestines rot slowly. At dawn, announce to the public that the Second Miss Sinclair suddenly fell severely ill and needs quiet rest and treatment. The situation... is not optimistic."
"Yes," the butler replied calmly.
Florence was shocked into speechlessness.
She had never imagined that the usually elegant and composed Sebastian Sinclair would show such a cruel and ruthless side for Juliana Jacobs.
On instinct, she turned to Mrs. Sinclair, her eyes full of pleading.
But Mrs. Sinclair turned her face away, saying nothing, her silence an endorsement of her husband’s decision.
In this cold despair, a dreadful suspicion struck Florence’s mind like a thunderbolt.
"Are you... are you doing this for her, because Juliana is..."
Slap!
Mrs. Sinclair slapped her across the face, forcing back the words she was about to say.
"Reflect well on your own malice. If there’s a next life, remember to learn how to be a decent person!"
Sebastian Sinclair did not look at her nor respond to her words but slightly nodded to the person beside him.
Two bodyguards immediately stepped forward, lifting the limp Florence Sinclair from either side and mercilessly throwing her back into the windowless utility room.
...
The effects of the drug gradually wore off, and Juliana Jacobs regained consciousness amid the jostling.
The last image stuck in her mind was in the airport bathroom, where a man covered her mouth and nose with a towel, after which she knew nothing.
At that moment, she found her hands and feet bound tightly with coarse hemp rope, curled up in the foul-smelling confines of a sealed truck compartment.
She couldn’t see outside, making it hard to gauge the circumstances or find an escape opportunity.
The truck suddenly stopped.
The rear door was opened from the outside, and piercing light poured in as she squinted to look.
A middle-aged man with a dark complexion and fierce eyes stood at the back of the truck, and in a thick accent, he asked, "Do you know where this place is?"
Juliana squinted, shaking her head in confusion.
"Do you know why you were brought here?"
She shook her head again.
The man snorted through his nose, "We brought you here to get married. Behave on the way, and you’ll suffer less. Understand?"
Juliana realized.
She had been trafficked.
She nodded again, feigning cowardice.
The man, seeing her willingness to cooperate, stepped aside.
Soon after, a simply dressed couple entered, appearing honest but acting swiftly.
The man tore off the tape from her mouth, while the woman offered a bowl of instant noodles, lifting some with chopsticks to her lips.
Juliana took two bites and, taking advantage of the feeding pause, asked, "May I ask where this is?"
Slap!
The man standing beside her slapped her, warning malevolently.
"Your mouth is only for eating! Make another sound, and I’ll cut your tongue out!"
Juliana’s cheek burned, and she fell silent.
She swallowed that plain bowl of instant noodles, her mind keenly clear.
Figure out her position, then find a way to send a message to Elias Langley.
He is surely looking for her too!
The truck traveled on the bumpy roads for about two days.
Afterward, she was blindfolded and dragged out, then hoisted onto a somewhat worn-out tricycle.
This fuel-powered tricycle jostled along rugged mountain roads for three or four hours before stopping.
She was roughly pulled from the vehicle, and when her blindfold was removed, the blinding daylight nearly knocked her out.
As her vision cleared, she found herself facing a village enclosed by towering mountains.
The mud houses were low and dilapidated, with air filled with the smell of wood smoke, dust, and livestock manure. Every wall crack, every inch of muddy ground seemed to inscribe the word "poverty."
Juliana understood she had been delivered to the buyer.
She was shoved and thrown into a farmhouse’s firewood shed.
Three people stood in the yard.
A mother in her fifties with two sons in their thirties.
Since she entered the courtyard, their gazes raked over her.
"Mrs. Marshall, this girl is truly top-notch. She’s from the city, educated, strong build, surely fertile," said the fierce-looking man.
Mrs. Marshall didn’t respond, just walked into the shed, roughly gripping Juliana’s chin, forcing her head up, her gaze inspecting like she was livestock.
"How old is she? Has she been with a man?"
The fierce-looking man immediately answered, "Twenty-six, from a good family, definitely pure, this is top merchandise."
Mrs. Marshall didn’t trust his words, beckoning her sons, "Come, spread her legs. Let me inspect."
Juliana gasped sharply, angrily wrenching her chin from Mrs. Marshall’s grip, hoarsely shouting, "Don’t touch me, once my husband comes looking, you’ll all be sorry."
Though easily dismissed as bravado, Mrs. Marshall’s face instantly darkened.
"Second-hand goods, not worth fifty thousand."
The fierce man hadn’t expected her to be married, feeling deceived by the old man.
"Hey, I paid thirty-five thousand to get her from the other side. Look at her face, your grandchildren will surely be handsome."
"Ten thousand, second-hand is worth only that much."
With such a steep price cut, the fierce man was about to curse, but the woman from the couple interjected peaceably.
"Mrs. Marshall, you drive too hard a bargain. A woman for your two sons, two daughters-in-law for the price of one, and you still push the price so low. Add a little at least. Also, the woman was sold by her own family, no one would report it, nor would anyone come looking, you can safely use her."
Mrs. Marshall seemed persuaded, paused for two seconds, gesturing, "Twenty thousand. If that’s not agreeable, I’ll refuse her."
Having gone through so much trouble, now gaining just this bit.
Seeing that it was late, the fierce man stomped his foot, "Fine, consider it my matchmaking for your sons, give me a red envelope."
In the end, Mrs. Marshall handed over a twelve yuan red envelope, chasing away the three traffickers with a stick.
She glanced at the curled-up Juliana on the ground, instructing her two sons, "Lock her in a room first."
Her sons hurried to Juliana, nearly fighting each other to reach her.
Mrs. Marshall angrily yelled, "Why are you fighting? After the wedding in a few days, both of you will get to sleep with her."
