Chapter 213: Zenith IVR

His brain was actively screaming at the ridiculous waste of capital.

"Three point eight million is a joke!" Silas argued fiercely, stepping between Elora and the gleaming black supercar. "I am not driving a stealth interceptor to the grocery store or the Association building! The Goliath transport was perfectly fine for hauling dungeon drops since I can take it to my territory too! I don’t need a twelve-hundred-horsepower anti-gravity engine just to commute from Silverleaf!"

They stood in the middle of the subterranean VIP showroom, aggressively arguing back and forth for several minutes.

The acoustics of the concrete bunker echoed with their voices as they clashed over the necessity of aesthetics versus practical ground-level utility.

Elora Verinda, entirely determined to crush his stubborn independence and secure her romantic investment, actively attempted to flex her massive wealth to convince him the price tag simply didn’t matter.

’It shouldn’t be a problem if I tell him what I have right?’ Elora thought, it had been a long time since she had actually tried to convince someone so Elora was a bit confused.

"Silas, you are being completely ridiculous!" Elora huffed, crossing her arms tightly over her chest and glaring right back at him. "Three point eight million is pocket change to the Verinda estate and me in extension! Do you have any idea how many vehicles I personally own?!"

She gestured wildly around the massive illuminated room.

"I have a customized, diamond-plated hover-yacht that cost twenty-five million credits just sitting in a private dock at my summer estate! I haven’t even used the damn thing in two years! I have three different sports cars specifically tuned for ice-terrain racing that I only take out on holiday weekends! I am paying for this vehicle regardless of your protests! It doesn’t affect my bottom line in the slightest! Just let me spoil you..."

However, her massive financial flex completely backfired.

Instead of being impressed by her vast resources, Silas blinked with a confused expression.

’Huh...? Are those Billionaire activities I hear?’ Silas thought.

One would probably think that he cared about the slums because he was from there but honestly...

’Fuck those fuckers!’

He didn’t care about the slums, he didn’t have any lingering trauma about starving families in Sector 4 either. Those fuckers had bullied him for his money when he was quite weak.

’But I have to say I’m very jealous.’ Silas thought.

He had lived two lives and in those two lives, he had to pull himself from the ground up and hustle and then there were people like this... Who were born with this.

"Twenty-five million credits for a yacht you don’t even use?!" Silas growled, his golden-ringed eyes flashing with genuine deep-seated anger.

Or as one could say, Jealousy.

He took a heavy step toward her with his towering muscular frame casting a long shadow over her pale blonde hair.

"Do you have any idea what twenty-five million credits buys?!" Silas snapped, offended by the strategic stupidity of it all. "That buys five full sets of Tier 3 to Tier 4 full body armor! It buys a literal mountain of high-tier elemental spell scrolls and enough raw mana crystals to power a fortress for a decade! You could lock down a city block from a dragon strike with that capital, and you just let it sit in a dock rotting... And now you want to drop nearly nine million on a stealth supercar just because it ’matches my coat’?! I am not letting you waste that kind of raw capital on a vanity project!"

Elora instantly realized her massive error.

She had approached this entirely wrong as she had tried to impress a ruthless efficiency-obsessed Lord with frivolous vanity spending.

Flexing dead assets was the exact opposite of what he respected.

She immediately dropped the financial flexing as she pivoted flawlessly to a different and infinitely more potent weaponized approach.

She stepped incredibly close to him, completely invading his personal space.

She looked up into his angry golden eyes with her expression softening entirely into one of pure vulnerability.

"Silas," Elora whispered softly, her voice barely carrying over the ambient hum of the showroom lights. "Please."

She didn’t talk about money anymore as she talked about loyalty, reputation, and the brutal politics of the Sovereign Realm.

"Just let me do this for you," Elora pleaded, her icy blue eyes wide and entirely sincere. "If you drive back to your estate or pull up to the Valoria Lord Association in a delivery truck... the other Valoria people won’t just mock you. They will openly disrespect you. They will look at your vehicle, assume your territory is starved for resources, and they will think you are weak."

’That’s why I keep going in cabs!’ Silas thought but honestly cabs were quite expensive

She gently placed her pale hand flat against his chest, right over his rapidly beating heart, feeling the thrum of his core beneath his ribs.

’If only I could see the color...’

"In this city, perception is reality," Elora whispered, delivering the killing blow. "And I cannot bear the thought of them disrespecting the man I love. I want them to look at what you drive and know exactly how dangerous you are so just take the Zenith. For me."

Silas stood there with his jaw locked so incredibly tight his teeth ached.

He stared down at her pleading blue eyes.

’Sigh... this woman... I have no idea what this woman is planning so I can’t say however if I keep rejecting her, that might affect my relationship with her in the future.’ She thought.

If she wanted to go on more Secret Realm raids, would she call him if he offended her? The answer was quite literally a no... and even if the first Secret Realm raid he ever did was quite trashy, there was at least some good to be found there.

’Like I actually got to see Thor in action...’

Thor was very strong and it helped him set a goal... He wanted to be like that, before Silas wanted to head to Asgard, he would be as strong as Thor.

’Besides...’

According to Elora, she wasn’t buying it to show off; she was buying it to protect his territorial reputation.

He let out a long defeated groan that echoed through the quiet showroom.

"Fine," Silas grumbled, aggressively rubbing his temples to soothe an incoming stress headache. "I will take the damn supercar."

Elora’s face instantly lit up with a brilliant victorious smile.

"Excellent choice, My Lord!" the sales associate cheered from the sidelines, practically skipping over to the nearby marble control console.

He was thrilled to secure the massive, multi-million-credit commission.

"Before we finalize the paperwork and the legal transfer of ownership," the associate offered eagerly, his fingers dancing across the glowing runic keyboard. "you are fully authorized to take the Zenith IVR for a live test drive! Our underground reinforced testing facility is located directly beneath this floor. It is specifically designed to handle high-speed telemetry."

Silas didn’t argue.

If he was getting a nearly nine-million-credit supercar, he wanted to see exactly what that kind of capital actually felt like behind the wheel.

He walked over to the massive black machine.

The heavy, aerodynamic gull-wing doors hissed open automatically, gliding upward on perfectly silent hydraulic hinges as the interface registered his physical proximity.

He slid down into the low-slung armored driver’s seat.

The interior was once again a marvel of engineering.

It didn’t smell like a cheap factory assembly line... it smelled like raw concentrated power if one could smell it.

The seats were heavily bolstered, wrapped in dark durable and magically treated monster-leather that immediately contoured to his broad shoulders, providing flawless lumbar support.

The dashboard was a sleek, minimalist array of glowing, holographic displays and tactical HUDs.

The moment he sat down, the system actively synced with his visual perception, projecting his speed, mana-engine temperature, and structural integrity directly onto the polarized dragon-glass windshield.

The steering wheel was thick and grip-taped with anti-slip material, it felt perfectly weighted in his calloused hands.

Even with his towering frame, the subtle spatial-expansion runes woven into the cabin’s architecture gave him an incredible amount of legroom.

Elora gracefully slid into the passenger seat beside him, pulling the multi-point racing harness over her chest and securing it with a satisfying, metallic click.

"Start the engine," Elora instructed him with a little gleam sparking in her icy blue eyes.

She was quite proud that she had convinced him into agreeing to buy this car.

’I’d like to see Harper try to do this...’

Silas reached out and pressed the glowing runic red ignition button located on the carbon-fiber center console.

VROOOOOOOOOOM!

The massive dual-core anti-gravity mana-engine roared to life.

It sounded like an ancient slumbering storm dragon being violently woken up from a century-long nap.

The entire bunker actively shook from the overwhelming acoustic power of the twelve-hundred-horsepower engine activating for the first time.

A deep vibration traveled straight up through the steering column, flowed up his muscular arms, and settled directly into Silas’s chest, perfectly resonating with the aggressive thrumming hum of his own Gold Core.

The heavy blast doors directly in front of the vehicle hissed open.

They revealed a massive reinforced underground testing track.

It was a sprawling, multi-stage facility over a mile long, illuminated by harsh overhead arc lights.

It was filled with long straightaways, simulated rough terrain, massive concrete barricades, holographic targeting arrays, and sweeping hairpin turns.

Silas grabbed the heavy, polished shifter, seamlessly slamming the vehicle into drive.

He didn’t ease into it and he didn’t gently test the pedals.

’Given how expensive it is... I won’t hold back.’

He treated the hyper-advanced vehicle exactly like an extension of his own body.

SKREEEEEEECH!

Silas slammed his heavy combat boot directly down onto the accelerator pedal, completely flooring it instantly.

The sleek Zenith IVR violently launched forward like a fired railgun slug.

The terrifying torque pinned both Silas and Elora completely back into their heavily bolstered leather seats with an incredible bone-crushing amount of G-force.

Well that was why the car was meant for lords.

The acceleration was so instantaneous that it temporarily forced the breath entirely from his lungs.

’It’s quite good.’ Silas thought while breathing in.

They tore down the subterranean testing track at terrifying speeds with the concrete walls of the tunnel blurred into a continuous dizzying streak of gray.

Approaching the first major obstacle... a massive solid concrete pillar.

Silas’s golden-ringed eyes narrowed in deep focus as he didn’t even tap the brakes.

He aggressively whipped the heavy steering wheel to the left, throwing the multi-ton supercar into a high-speed screaming drift.

VROOOOOM! SCREEEECH!

The advanced anti-gravity suspension flawlessly absorbed the intense shock.

The massive wide-track treaded tires gripped the polished concrete with terrifying tenacity, screaming in protest but refusing to spin out or lose traction.

The kinetic-redirection runes etched into the undercarriage flared with bright silver light, actively pushing the car down against the centrifugal force, keeping them perfectly anchored to the floor.

Silas effortlessly wove the sleek interceptor through a narrow dangerous series of simulated barricades and tight chicane turns at over a hundred and fifty miles per hour but he didn’t lose a single ounce of control.

The steering responded to his micro-adjustments immediately too.

He hit a simulated rock incline specifically designed to test the vehicle’s off-road and evasion capabilities so instead of hitting the brakes to carefully navigate the bumps, Silas aggressively accelerated.

The heavy Mythril suspension actively engaged.

The dual-core anti-gravity thrusters mounted beneath the chassis momentarily fired with a loud pressurized hiss, generating a cushion of repelling force.

The massive supercar effortlessly bounded completely over the jagged vertical terrain but it didn’t transfer a single drop of turbulence into the luxurious cabin... it felt exactly like they were gliding on frictionless glass.

Hitting the final straightaway, Silas pushed the mana-engine to its redline with the digital speedometer projected on the windshield rapidly climbing past two hundred miles per hour.

He hit the ceramic brakes at the very end of the track, throwing the steering wheel hard to the right to execute a final 180-degree power-slide.

’It almost feels like I’m in Need For Speed...’ Silas thought, ’Well without the police chasing me and all that.’

He was only doing this because this was a very expensive car, if it wasn’t, he would have driven it normally.

The Zenith IVR came to a flawless halt directly in front of the heavy steel exit doors.

The cabin was completely silent for a moment, save for the heavy idling hum of the massive engine and the sharp ticking of rapidly cooling mythril.

Silas sat there in the driver’s seat with his hands gripping the steering wheel tight.

His heart was hammering violently against his ribs as pure adrenaline flooded his veins.

He looked at the glowing holographic dashboard, then ran his hand affectionately over the smooth flawless leather of the wheel.

He hated to admit it. but he loved the car.

It was perfection.

The car was aggressive, it was virtually indestructible too and the physical power of the engine felt like a direct mechanical translation of his own Gold Core aura.

Silas slowly turned his head, looking over at Elora in the passenger seat.

The City Lord’s daughter was breathing a bit from the intense G-force of the drift with her chest rising and falling against the racing harness.

Her pale blonde hair was slightly messy, completely blown out of its perfect cascading waves by the velocity of the maneuver but a wildly triumphant satisfied smirk was plastered across her flawless face.

"I like how it feels," Silas admitted quietly, completely unable to hide the satisfaction in his rough voice.
