Chapter 1298: Chapter 1273: The Opportunity for Revenge Has Come

Upon hearing his father’s words and seeing his father’s anxious expression, Zhou Jian knew that Ye Chen was indeed not an ordinary person.

For someone to command such caution from his father, he must be a significant figure.

Zhou Jian wondered if he had been mistaken; perhaps Ye Chen was indeed a big shot in the business world.

"Dad, what is the background of this Ye Chen that makes you so scared?" Zhou Jian voiced his doubts.

Zhou Minghan glared at his son and said irritably, "You don’t need to know Mr. Ye’s identity. Just remember to avoid him in the future and stop causing trouble for me."

Seeing his father’s angry expression, Zhou Jian was taken aback. His father had never been so strict with him before.

"Oh, I understand," Zhou Jian replied blandly.

"Little Jian, I’m telling you that Mr. Ye is not someone you can mess with. Don’t find trouble for yourself, remember? If I find out you’ve sought revenge, I’ll break your legs and you’ll never leave this house." Zhou Minghan warned again.

Zhou Jian fell silent and gloomily left the study, returning to his room where he lay on his bed with a depressed look.

Who was Zhou Jian? How could he be bullied without seeking revenge?

"Dad may be afraid of that guy named Ye Chen, but I’m not. I’ll definitely regain my lost pride when the opportunity arises," Zhou Jian murmured with a hint of fierceness in his eyes. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Zhou Minghan sat in the study, feeling quite comforted by his son’s promises. It seemed his son had truly grown up and matured.

But he didn’t realize that instead of heeding his advice, Zhou Jian would create even bigger trouble.

After inspecting the stalled construction site, Ye Chen drove home.

As he lay in bed, he remembered that his mother had asked him to call his parents once he got home.

It had been a long time, and his parents must be worrying.

Ye Chen took out his phone and dialed his mother’s number; the call connected as soon as it rang.

At that moment, Mrs. Ye was anxiously waiting for her son’s call in the living room, occasionally glancing at the quietly resting phone.

It should have only been a two-hour drive, yet why hadn’t Ye Chen called her yet?

As she imagined worrisome scenarios, Mrs. Ye grew increasingly anxious.

Upon hearing the ringtone, she quickly picked up the phone and answered.

"Little Chen, you’ve arrived. I was wondering why it’s taken so long without a call," Mrs. Ye said nervously.

"Mom, I just had some things to take care of. You and Dad must be worried," Ye Chen said apologetically.

"It’s fine. As long as you’ve arrived, that’s good. Are you with Wanyi?" Mrs. Ye smiled.

Ye Chen thought to himself that the girl had gone to work at the company a while ago, so how could she be with him?

If he told his mother Su Wanyi had gone back to the company to deal with matters, she would definitely worry again.

So Ye Chen decided to lie with a smile: "Yes, we’re together now. Would you like to speak with her?"

"No, no, it’s rare you both have time off. Quickly go spend time with Wanyi," Mrs. Ye said and then hung up the phone.

Ye Chen had guessed his mother wouldn’t actually talk to Su Wanyi, which was why he said that.

Just after he set down his phone, the ringtone sounded again.

He glanced at the screen; it was Su Wanyi calling, which led him to think that there might be unresolved issues at the company.

"Wanyi, we’ve only been apart for a short while and you’re already thinking of me?" Ye Chen said with a laugh.

"Stop being smug, I just wanted to see what you’re doing," Su Wanyi replied with a smile.

Ye Chen knew Su Wanyi must have finished dealing with company matters and then remembered to call him.

It wasn’t the first time this had happened; Ye Chen was long accustomed to it.

"What else could I be doing? Of course, I’m at home thinking of you," Ye Chen said with a smile.

Hearing Ye Chen’s words filled Su Wanyi’s heart with joy; her previous feelings of fatigue vanished.

"By the way, Ye Chen, there’s something I want to tell you," Su Wanyi said.

"What is it?" Ye Chen asked.

"This evening there’s a banquet at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. I’d like you to accompany me, is that okay?" Su Wanyi asked tentatively.

She knew very well that Ye Chen didn’t like such events, but this time she had to take Ye Chen with her.

Ye Chen thought about it and frowned as he said, "Alright, I’ll go with you. Any dress code requirements?"

"My husband looks great in anything," Su Wanyi said proudly.

"Wanyi, you’ve said this many times; a handsome person looks great in anything," Ye Chen said smugly.

He knew there must be a reason Su Wanyi wanted him to go, and that reason he need not ask about—it would be clear once there.

"Okay, Ye Chen, be downstairs at my company at five-thirty to pick me up, and we’ll go together."

Su Wanyi said this and was about to hang up, but Ye Chen stopped her, as he also had something to tell her.

"Wanyi, wait a moment. I have something to tell you too."

"What is it?" This time, it was Su Wanyi who was puzzled.

"I spent a billion to buy a stalled construction site on West City Road, I want to let you know," Ye Chen said.

He thought that although it wasn’t Su Wanyi’s money, since they were together, this matter should be known to her.

"Ye Chen, are you okay spending so much money on a stalled construction site?" Su Wanyi said with a confused expression.

"Wanyi, don’t worry, listen to me. A college friend of mine owed a ton of debt that he couldn’t repay, so he came to me to sell this stalled construction site," Ye Chen explained the situation thoroughly to Su Wanyi.

Even so, Su Wanyi found it difficult to accept.

As a businessperson, her mind focused on profitability, while everything else fell outside her scope of concern.

"Ye Chen, I won’t say much more. I can only say your decision was quite unwise; this is clearly a losing business," Su Wanyi sighed.

However, since Ye Chen had already made the purchase, she could only accept the reality. Persistently blaming him wouldn’t help.

Not only would it strain their relationship, but it also wouldn’t solve any issues.

"Let’s do this; when we return, I’ll ask a friend to help examine it." Su Wanyi said.

"Alright, Wanyi, thank you." Ye Chen said with a smile.

Regarding construction, Ye Chen was indeed clueless and needed a professional’s help.

With no such talents around him, he could only rely on Su Wanyi.

"Okay, see you tonight." Su Wanyi said and then hung up the phone.

...

At the Zhou Family, Zhou Jian, who was sulking in his room, suddenly received a phone call. After hanging up, a sinister smile appeared on his lips; he knew the chance to take revenge on Ye Chen had arrived.
