Chapter 1281: Chapter 1256: During the Surgery
Now Uncle Qiang felt even more that meeting Ye Chen was a very fortunate thing.
Even though the murder was exposed, being able to save his mother’s life was worth it.
Ye Chen waved his hand and said, "Uncle Qiang, you don’t need to be so polite with me, it’s what I should do."
Uncle Qiang knew his mother was having surgery today, and while he was happy, he couldn’t help but feel a bit sad.
The elderly woman was not as excited as when she first heard about having surgery; mainly because finishing surgery would mean being separated from her son.
After a while, hurried footsteps sounded outside, and soon Dean Chen appeared at the door of the ward.
"Mr. Ye, we’ve prepared everything as you requested."
"Very well, thank you for your hard work, Dean Chen," Ye Chen said with a smile.
"Mr. Ye, you’re too kind," Dean Chen replied with a smile.
Ye Chen saw that everything was ready, and he took out his phone to call Zhou Tao.
"Director Zhou, everything’s ready on our end at the hospital, how’s it on your side?"
"Mr. Ye, we’ve been ready for a while, just waiting for your call," Zhou Tao said with a smile.
"Then Director Zhou, please come over now," Ye Chen said.
"Okay, see you in a bit," Zhou Tao said before hanging up the phone.
He arranged for the drivers to haul the equipment while he drove with his team towards the hospital.
After Ye Chen finished the call with Zhou Tao, Dean Chen continuously waited at the door.
Although he was a dean, Zhou Tao’s status was much higher, even he had to show respect to Zhou Tao.
From afar, a convoy slowly approached, and Dean Chen knew Zhou Tao and the others had arrived.
Seeing Zhou Tao and the others get off the cars, Dean Chen hurriedly led the medical staff to greet them.
"Director Zhou, hello, I am the dean of this hospital, my name is Chen Ming, it’s truly an honor to have you come to perform surgery in our hospital," Dean Chen said with a smile.
"Dean Chen, hello, it’s really unnecessary to trouble you to greet us personally, I’m really sorry," Zhou Tao replied politely.
Dean Chen knew Zhou Tao’s words were mere courtesy.
"You’re too kind, Director Zhou, please this way," Dean Chen said with a smile, leading Zhou Tao and his team.
Under Dean Chen’s guidance, Zhou Tao and his team arrived at the ward while others installed the equipment.
Because Ye Chen had already explained everything, and Dean Chen had everything prepared, the equipment was installed quickly.
Though the equipment was quite advanced, it depends on who’s performing the surgery.
If the doctors from Dean Chen’s hospital performed it, it definitely wouldn’t suffice.
Ye Chen stayed inside the ward and did not go out to greet Zhou Tao.
It wasn’t out of arrogance, but mainly because he was so familiar with Zhou Tao that there was no need for such formalities. If he went out, it would make Zhou Tao feel embarrassed.
"Mr. Ye," Zhou Tao greeted as he saw Ye Chen.
"Director Zhou, you’re here," Ye Chen said with a smile.
"Yes, Mr. Ye, once the equipment is installed and tested, we can start the surgery," Zhou Tao said.
He then looked at Uncle Qiang’s mother and asked with concern, "Ma’am, how do you feel now?"
"I still feel the same, occasionally short of breath," the elderly woman replied truthfully.
"Alright, I understand. Ma’am, we’re going to do the surgery soon, please relax, I guarantee you won’t feel this way after it," Zhou Tao said, smiling at Uncle Qiang’s mother.
"Director Zhou, I’m grateful for everything," Uncle Qiang’s mother said with gratitude.
Though she didn’t know who Zhou Tao was, from the conversation between Dean Chen and Ye Chen, she could sense that he was a highly prominent figure in the medical field.
Her being able to have such an esteemed person perform the surgery was truly heartening for Uncle Qiang’s mother.
"Don’t mention it, Ma’am, just cooperate well with me, and you’ll recover soon," Zhou Tao said.
"Director Zhou, I entrust my mother to you," Uncle Qiang said excitedly.
"Don’t worry, as a doctor, I’ll put in my utmost effort," Zhou Tao said with determination in his eyes.
Then he politely said, "Alright, Mr. Ye, I’m going to prepare for the surgery, excuse me."
"Alright, Director Zhou, please go ahead," Ye Chen nodded in response.
After Zhou Tao left, several doctors came and took Uncle Qiang’s mother away.
Ye Chen, Uncle Qiang, Dean Chen, and others waited outside the operating room.
One family member of a hospital inpatient, knowing Dean Chen, noticed him waiting outside, and everyone speculated on who was having surgery that even the dean was waiting outside.
If they knew the renowned Zhou Tao was the one performing surgery, they’d be utterly shocked.
The surgery proceeded for several hours, with everyone anxiously waiting outside.
Although aware of Zhou Tao’s high medical expertise, performing heart surgery was never easy.
Uncle Qiang was also restless, worried for his mother inside the operating room.
Understanding Uncle Qiang’s feelings, Ye Chen patted his shoulder and comforted, "Uncle Qiang, don’t worry, your mother will be fine."
Though Uncle Qiang nodded in agreement with Ye Chen’s words, he couldn’t help but worry.
After a while, the light at the door of the operating room turned off, and Zhou Tao, looking exhausted, walked out.
Seeing Zhou Tao come out, Uncle Qiang hurriedly approached him and asked, "Director Zhou, how is my mother?"
"The surgery was very successful, your mother is still under anesthesia, she’ll be moved to the ward soon and should wake up quickly, don’t worry," Zhou Tao said weakly.
Uncle Qiang knew performing this surgery had exhausted Zhou Tao physically and mentally.
"Director Zhou, thank you for your hard work," Uncle Qiang quickly grasped Zhou Tao’s hand gratefully.
"Mr. Ye, the surgery was successful, I’ll go rest for a bit," Zhou Tao said to Ye Chen.
Usually, when others perform surgery he doesn’t mind much, but when he did it himself, it felt different, thus feeling very fatigued.
"Director Zhou, thank you, you’ve worked hard," Ye Chen also took Zhou Tao’s hand in gratitude.
After all, Zhou Tao helped him tremendously; without Zhou Tao’s help in performing the surgery for Uncle Qiang’s mother, Uncle Qiang wouldn’t have taken the risk of sending himself to prison, testifying against Zhang Rumei, preventing her from escaping justice.
Dean Chen quickly came over and said, "Director Zhou, we’ve prepared a relaxation room for you, I’ll take you there."
"Thank you, Dean," Zhou Tao replied.
Under Dean Chen’s guidance, Zhou Tao left.
Even though Zhou Tao mentioned the surgery was successful, not seeing his mother yet left Uncle Qiang uneasy.
Thus Ye Chen and Uncle Qiang remained at the operating room’s door, waiting.
