Chapter 168: Chapter 168: The Global Ranking
The glade was completely silent.
The pulverized remains of the Rain Demons scattered across the grass like coarse sawdust.
Dante slowly sheathed the [Dawn-Breaker Blade].
He didn’t even check his stamina bar. The [Chrono-Shift] talent ensured he wasn’t exhausted.
Nyx adjusted her dark glasses. She stared at the newly acquired pet standing beside her.
Violet, the Mischievous Boomshade Trickster, was currently inspecting a large piece of the shattered scythe-arm of a demon with intense curiosity.
"She is chaotic," Nyx noted dryly and turned her datapad toward Dante.
"Her stat sheet is incredibly specialized. She possesses almost zero raw damage output, but her evasion and illusion mechanics are completely off the charts."
"She is a scout," Dante agreed.
"Use her to map hostile zones before we engage. If she can bypass system detection, she can find structural weaknesses in enemy guildhalls without triggering their alarms."
Violet suddenly perked up. Her solid black eyes locked onto Nyx.
"Master," Violet said. Her voice dropped into a conspiratorial whisper. "The loud trees are gone. I can show you the secret place now."
Nyx frowned. "Secret place?"
"The system hides the best things where the shiny men cannot see them," Violet explained.
She pointed a slender purple finger toward the densest and darkest section of the surrounding grove. "Follow."
The Boomshade Trickster didn’t wait for permission. She darted into the shadows, and her form instantly blended into the darkness.
Nyx looked at Dante.
"Go," Dante nodded. "We will hold the perimeter here. If she is leading you to localized lore, it might be a class trigger."
Nyx tapped her datapad and followed her new pet into the dense brush.
Violet led her through a twisting and disorienting path.
The ambient pink light of the falling blossoms faded entirely. It was replaced by a thick heavy gloom.
The air grew cold and smelled of old stone and undisturbed dust.
They arrived at the base of a massive sheer cliff face that bordered the edge of the valley instance.
Violet didn’t stop. She walked directly up to the solid stone wall and pressed her hand against a specific heavily shadowed crevice.
The stone didn’t grind open like a mechanical door. It simply melted away to reveal a narrow pitch-black tunnel.
"In here," Violet whispered and stepped into the dark.
Nyx hesitated for a fraction of a second.
Her analytical mind calculated the risks, but the allure of hidden system data pushed her forward. She followed the Boomshade Trickster into the tunnel.
The passage opened up into a small perfectly circular cavern.
The walls were lined with unlit braziers. In the center of the room sat a simple unadorned stone pedestal.
Resting on the pedestal was a small heavy book bound in cracked black leather.
Nyx approached the pedestal.
Her Intuition wasn’t as high as Dante’s, but she could feel the intense localized cosmic weight radiating from the book.
It felt cold, precise, and incredibly lethal.
She reached out and touched the cover.
The system interface violently flashed. The standard blue text was instantly overwritten by a deep bruised purple.
[Hidden Location Discovered: The Shadow Sanctum]
[Item Appraised: Tome of the Unseen]
[Tier: Divine]
[Description: A localized archive containing the forgotten combat logic of the premier assassination guild of the First Cycle.]
Nyx gasped as the heavy leather book dissolved into a stream of dark purple light that flowed directly into her avatar’s chest.
[System Override: Baseline Class Parameters Erased.]
[Hidden Class Acquired: God of Shadow]
[Grade: Legendary]
Nyx stumbled backward. She was overwhelmed by the sudden massive influx of data flooding her neural link.
The system didn’t just update her stats. It completely rewrote her localized physiology.
The dark leather armor she wore shifted and turned a sleek light-absorbing matte black.
She pulled up her new class profile, and her eyes widened behind her dark glasses.
[Class Passive 1 (Absolute Obscurity): The user is permanently immune to all localized optical tracking, scrying magic, and system-generated mini-map detection. The user leaves no digital footprint.]
[Class Passive 2 (Lethal Geometry): All attacks initiated from stealth receive a guaranteed 500% Critical Hit Damage multiplier. If the strike kills the target, the user instantly re-enters stealth.]
Nyx slowly let out a breath.
She wasn’t just an analyst anymore.
The [God of Shadow] class transformed her into the ultimate untargetable executioner.
She could walk through the front door of a rival guildhall, bypass every single security array, and assassinate the Guild Master without ever being seen on the combat logs.
Violet smiled and her black eyes crinkled. "Do you like it, Master? I hid it from the loud men for a very long time."
"It is perfect," Nyx said. Her voice was tight with newfound terrifying confidence. "Let us get back to Dante. The auction house is going to need a dedicated security chief."

While Nyx was securing her Legendary-tier class in the shadows of the valley, the real world was experiencing a massive localized economic meltdown.
In the heavily fortified corporate boardroom of OmniCorp Tower on Veridia, Silas sat at the head of the mahogany table. He stared blankly at a massive holographic projection.
He hadn’t slept. His pristine expensive suit was heavily wrinkled.
The hologram wasn’t displaying financial spreadsheets or guild troop movements.
It was displaying the live and continuously updating Global Pet Rankings of the Zenith Protocol.
He watched the board refresh.
[Global Pet Rankings]
[Rank 1: Aura (Mystic Sovereign) - Grade 8 - Owner: Dan]
[Rank 2: Erebus (Half-Soul Celestial) - Grade: Anomaly - Owner: Dan]
[Rank 3: Violet (Mischievous Boomshade Trickster) - Grade 5 - Owner: Nyx]
Silas stared at the third slot. The name ’Nyx’ burned into his retinas.
He knew exactly who Nyx was.
His intelligence networks had already identified her as the chief analyst for the Astral Emporium.
This was the very same studio run by Seraphina, the woman he was supposed to marry to secure his corporate merger.
The studio that Dante was currently using to monopolize the economy of the server.
"He took the pet," Silas whispered. His voice cracked with absolute unfiltered rage.
Elara, his chief strategic advisor, stood near the door. Her posture was incredibly rigid.
She didn’t look sympathetic. She looked exhausted by his incompetence.
"You attempted to secure a localized asset without adequate backup," Elara stated flatly.
"The system log confirms you initiated a Master-Servant dialogue with the Boomshade Trickster, and the entity rejected your contract. You were then killed by a localized environmental hazard. Your failure is entirely documented."
Silas violently swept his arm across the table. He knocked a glass pitcher of water onto the floor where it shattered loudly.
"I do not care about the logs!" Silas screamed. He stood up, and his chair tipped over backward.
"He humiliated me at the auction! He bankrupted my personal accounts! And now his pathetic low-level merchant friends are stealing my high-tier assets?!"
He paced furiously and ran his hands through his messy hair.
"He is mocking me," Silas muttered. His eyes were wide and manic.
"Dan thinks he is untouchable. He thinks because he has big numbers, he can just walk over Vanguard’s Legacy."
"He currently possesses the stats to do exactly that," Elara pointed out coldly.
"If you engage him directly again, you will lose. The board of directors is already drafting the paperwork to sever your funding entirely. You have nothing left to fight him with."
"I have the numbers," Silas snarled. He stopped his pacing to glare at his advisor. "I recruited five million players!"
"Five million uncoordinated low-level recruits," Elara corrected him. "They are useless against Zenith-tier localized damage."
"Then we do not fight him in a localized arena!" Silas roared and pointed a trembling finger at the holographic projection.
"We hit his infrastructure! We hit his friends!"
"I want every single member of Vanguard’s Legacy mobilized. I want them sweeping every open-world zone."
"If they see anyone wearing the Aegis Vanguard tabard, they execute them."
"If they see Sera, Lila, Nyx, or that idiot bard, they camp their respawns until they delete their accounts!"
Silas leaned heavily on the mahogany table, and his breathing was ragged.
"I am going to burn his entire support network to the ground," Silas vowed. His voice dropped to a terrifying hateful whisper.
"I am going to make him watch as his precious guild is systematically eradicated."
"And when he is completely alone, when he has nothing left to protect... then I will use the Sect."
Elara didn’t argue.
She simply nodded sharply. She accessed her datapad to begin organizing the massive server-wide purge Silas had just ordered.
The Guild Master of Vanguard’s Legacy turned his attention back to the holographic projection. He glared at the name ’Dan’ sitting comfortably at the top of the leaderboards.
The early-game skirmishes were officially over.
The true unrestricted war for the Zenith Protocol was about to begin, and Silas was willing to drag the entire server down with him just to secure the kill.
