Chapter 35: The L-Series

"How many are in this series?" asked Vraev’ox as he entered into the fighter craft. Since every Sisalik ship in this galaxy had passed inspection, it was time to investigate someplace else. And if there was a place that held more than one of these L-Series ships, then that would be a good place to start.

"There are 11 ships," replied Ye’tab as he disengaged his cloaking device right beside the other male. Vraev’ox turned to look at him and nodded his head.

"11 ships seems like an unusual number," said Au’dtair. There was a pause before Au’dtair continued. "I have a record of 10 of them, but not an 11th one."

"My information specifically states 11," responded Ye’tab, not really caring one way or another about Au’dtair’s statement. "And 10 of them are all in the same galaxy."

"And you said that all 11 of them are freed?" confirmed Vraev’ox looking at the male beside him.

"I know for sure that 10 of them are, they have all sworn allegiance to the Alliance and are currently guarding the borders of sector B0101101. I can only assume that the 11th one is as well," continued Ye’tab imputing some numbers into his wrist unit.

"What are these pets that the AIs have taken on?" asked Cruz’uts as he walked up the ramp of the fighter craft that was attached to one of the many space stations in this sector. It was easier for each hunter to go off on his own and meet up later than it was to continue to be in a group. For the most part, hunters were solitary creatures.

"From my understanding, they are a completely defenseless race that is currently listed as an endangered species. As far as my sources know, the AIs didn’t even have to have them declawed or anything, they are that defenseless."

"How many of these pets are in our galaxy currently?" asked Cruz’uts curious.

"There are 10 confirmed pets to date," answered Ye’tab turning to look at the returning male.

"There are 10 pets on board 10 of the most powerful battleship in the entire Sisalik fleet," mused Vraev’ox. "And no one else found this strange?" The three men were waiting for their last teammate, Tha’juen, before taking off.

"Very," nodded Ye’tab, "Especially since these AIs were not freed until the arrival of their pets. However, no one will tell the Alliance just why that was."

"And the Alliance accepted that?" scoffed Cruz’uts.

"Not at first," admitted the other male. "But at the same time, I don’t think that the Alliance cared all that much considering that, at the end of the rotation, they got what they wanted."

"I will not be able to return to the ship," said Tha’juen, cutting through the conversation.

"Understood," replied Vraev’ox with a shrug. "Will you be rejoining us later then?"

"Yes," was the short reply.

"May the god of death lead your way until we meet again," said Cruz’uts.

"You as well," came the response before their communications with Tha’juen were cut off.

"Where should we go next?" asked Au’dtair as the three males strode through the cargo bay and into the command bridge.

"If 10 of 11 ships in the L-Series are in sector B0101101, let’s go there and see if they have our technology," replied Vraev’ox as in imputed the new coordinated into his wrist unit.

Not waiting for official permission to leave the space station, Vraev’ox simply shot out of the port like a bat out of hell.

"It would also be interesting to know why so many battleships are guarding the Alliance home territory," said Ye’tab slowly before he turned his attention to his wrist unit and began frantically typing away.

"It would," grunted Vraev’ox as he stared out of the screen in front of them at the vast darkness of space. "It would be very interesting indeed."

Tha’juen leaned back against the wall in the cargo bay that he was currently trapped in. Although the Sisalik that were controlling the ship didn’t know about him, they still effectively managed to cage him in their ship as they jumped into another galaxy while he was onboard. However, he was unfazed about the situation that he found himself in.

It was like trapping a tiger inside of a house. The tiger could kill everyone inside, but sometimes drawing out the hunt was much more pleasurable. There was a slight brightening of his wrist unit, visible only to Saalistaja, thanks to their unique ability to see lights on both ends of the spectrum, and in every color. Looking down, he saw a message from Au’dtair. ’Heading to sector B0101101, now looking at the L-Series ships for possible technology.’

Deleting the message, Tha’juen got more comfortable. He would have patience for this hunt. It was unclear just what information he might get simply by staying invisible. After all, the Sisalik didn’t make good trophies so there was no point in killing them. Just yet.

"They aren’t happy," grumbled one Sisalik as he walked unsuspectingly past an invisible Tha’juen. "They want even more."

"It was amazing that we got 10, do they really think that it is easy to get to that planet without detection?" replied the one walking beside him.

"It was possible because it was the L-Series that managed to get their hands on them," scoffed the first guard. "We are not the L-Series."

"That’s for sure," chuckled the second. "Then again, from what I have heard, they don’t have their precious L-Series anymore to go get more. So, what is our Captain going to do?"

"I heard that he believes that there is an 11th being on L11042, has been for cycles. I think that our Captain is just going to try and take that one without anyone being the wiser. No one can seem to find the coordinates to the planet anyways, might as well take the easy way out."

The second guard grunted in agreement.

Tha’juen thought back to the message from his hunt mate, if this ship was going to try and track down one of the L-Series then that would make his life that much easier.
