Chapter 30: Party Pooper
He just stared at me. "What?" he asked confused. "But if I untie you, you will run away like the others tried to do," he said worriedly. I mean, he had a point. Who wouldn’t run away from the crazy serial killer that was wanting to kill them?
"Then were you planning on keeping me like this forever? What about when I need to use the washroom?" I asked, trying to talk some sense into the man.
"I figured that I would break your legs first, that way you couldn’t leave me," he said like that made all the sense in the world. And now that I know that the passive earring weapon that I thought was the greatest thing since sliced bread did nothing when it came to blunt force trauma, I wasn’t too willing to have him try to break my legs.
"What about when I needed to use the washroom?" I asked. Wondering how far he actually thought things through.
"You can just use the mattress. That was what the other girls did," he said with a shrug of his shoulders.
Okay, now it was official, I needed to get off this bed as soon as possible. "Could you just untie one of my hands? What can I do with only one hand?" I asked, an innocent smile on my face.
"You could untie your other hand and then your feet," he replied looking down at me. Okay, so he was smarter than I gave him credit for... but still.
"Sweetheart," I said, my voice low and soft. "If you want us to be together, you need to trust me a little," I continued with a pout on my face. If demanding and reason didn’t work for him, maybe seduction would do the trick.
I mean, the poor guy wasn’t going to live much past me getting freed, so I might as well give him some hope before he died.
"But I can’t trust you right now," he said sounding lonely. "Why can’t you love me the way I love you?" he continued this time with a growl of frustration.
"But how can I love you if you don’t even feed me?" I asked pitifully. The pout was back on my face as I looked up at him with my best puppy dog eyes. I needed only one free hand. That was it...
"You’re hungry?" he asked as he looked around the room. "Okay, I can get you some food," he continued as he walked out of the room. The smile on my face dropped as soon as the door was closed behind him.
I sat up as far as the restraints around my forearms allowed me to. I tried to wiggle my left arm out from the bindings but he managed to tie the rope so tight that it was cutting into the skin. In fact, it was so tight that I was starting to bleed, but that didn’t stop me from continuing.
"Don’t worry," said Jun Li from inside my ear. "I will come for you," he reassured me.
"I know," I said as I continued to try and find a way to get myself out of here. "I just don’t want to wait a week before you can get here. I mean, I still have a bunch of furniture and supplies to get."
There was silence on the other end and I wondered what Jun Li was up to. "I will get you out," was all he said before there was quiet again.
I couldn’t lean forward enough to be able to use my teeth to untie the ropes, but I did notice a very important thing...he must be using brand new ropes on me because my blood was causing the rope on my left side to stretch.
I pulled up my left forearm as high as I could before relaxing it again. I knew I was losing blood, but I was not worried about it. Unless I somehow managed to damage an artery, I would be just fine. I continued to repeat my actions again and again until there was enough stretch in the rope that I could just slip my hand out of the binding.
With my left hand freed, I quickly activated the choker... and breathed a sigh of relief when there were no voices popping up in my head telling me that I needed to do missions or something like that. Shuddering at dodging that ball, I opened my eyes and saw where all the original red lines and squiggles were, there was now English.
Happy that there was now English where the was once Saaja, I never thought about the next hurdle that I would encounter. That was actually activating the controls.
Looking at the word ’weapons’, I tried to repeat the word, hoping that because it was in English, it would respond to English. I don’t think that I could pronounce the Saaja word well enough to activate it. Unfortunately for me, the armor didn’t so much as twitch.
I stared at the word floating just off to the right of my vision, I widened my eyes and blinked at the word thinking that maybe it would be connected enough to my brain that a blink would be the equivalent of pressing enter on a keyboard.
It wasn’t.
Getting somewhat frustrated, I flicked my left arm a few times, trying to get the sting of the cut flesh out. I know that it didn’t actually work that way, but it was the only limb I could move right now and I was enjoying that freedom, even if it hurt like hell.
The words ’activating wrist computer’, suddenly appeared in red across the screen of my helmet. ’Syncing... syncing...’ I didn’t know what was going on, but it still made me happy.
"Your heart rate is accelerating," came Jun Li’s voice sounding worried. "Is everything okay? I have a med room in the main ship that should be able to fix whatever he does to you. You don’t need to worry about anything okay?" I half smiled when I heard how panicked he was.
"Calm down," I said, not worried if my neighbor heard me or not. I could only assume that since I was in full armor, he wouldn’t be able to hear me anyways. "I got my armor activated. The language has changed to English somehow and apparently, I now have a wrist computer."
"Did the armor cause your bindings to snap?" asked Jun Li. "They should have, right?"
"Am I ever that lucky?" I grumbled under my breath, no longer so excited. Party pooper.
