Chapter 243: Waving A Red Flag
I looked at the scene in front of me and felt all of the tension just melting from my body. I don’t know how Jun Li managed to pull this off, but he was now my favorite being in the entire world.
It looked like he had ripped a second of the beach from Region F and put it in the ship. There were sandy beaches, palm trees, and even umbrellas and lounge chairs scattered around the front of the room. But...
I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. I could hear the waves as they hit the sand and could smell the salty air of the ocean.
"Thank you," I said softly to Jun Li, knowing that he would be able to hear me. "I don’t know how you did it, but thank you."
"Honestly, we had a free level, so I thought that this would be an interesting addition," replied Jun Li from my earpiece.
"I am not going to have to worry about sharks or anything like that, am I?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. There were several kilometers of beach, but that ’ocean’ took up almost three-quarters of the room. I had no idea how deep it was, but I definitely couldn’t see where the water ended.
There was a pause for a moment, causing me to shake my head. The AI probably did take a whole section of City O to build this thing, marine life and all.
"There may or may not be sharks," admitted Jun Li after a few minutes. "But I can build a shield between them and the front of the water if you want."
I shook my head. I disliked the idea of swimming with sharks, and when I said disliked, I mean I absolutely hated it. There was a reason why I didn’t go swimming in the ocean back home: preferring to stick to indoor swimming pools.
But maybe the guys would like to.
"Please and thank you," I answered, more than happy to know that there was a wall between me and whatever lurked in the darkness of the water.
"Done," said Jun Li. I narrowed my eyes, but I couldn’t see so much as a ripple in the water to indicate that anything had changed. But I trusted Jun Li this time. And if something happened, I am sure that one of the guys would be able to save me before I got eaten by something that wasn’t them.
"If I get eaten, I am going to be cranky," I warned him as I walked toward where the guys were standing at the shoreline, just staring out.
There was a soft chirp at my feet. Looking down, I saw Night and Pumpkin sitting in the sand, building mounds. My breath caught when I saw Pumpkin completely fine in the sunlight. Letting out a sigh of relief that my pet no longer had that weakness, I turned my attention back to the guys.
They had yet to notice me standing behind them, their attention captivated by the water. And I didn’t blame them at all. There was something so soothing about the sun in the trees and the faint breeze. But I really didn’t want soothing right now.
Pushing my way between Ye’tab and Midnight, I looked over my shoulder at the males. Midnight’s eyes were fixated on me, his nostrils flaring out as he caught my scent.
Flashing him a secretive smile, I grabbed the bottom of my black coverup dress. Slowly, I pulled it up higher and higher, revealing my skin inch by inch.
The other males must have caught the same scent because they were no longer staring at the water but at me... a hungry look on their faces.
My eyes never left Midnight’s face as I hiked up the dress to my hips and then up the rest of my body.
I stood there for a moment, dressed in a bright red bikini almost the exact same as what Pippa was wearing on Spring Break. From now on, when they thought about bathing suits and bikinis, they would no longer have Pippa’s picture in their heads but mine.
Without warning, I spun around and darted into the water, marveling at its warmth. I ducked under the waves and swam away as fast as I possibly could.
I wasn’t the world’s best swimmer by any means, but I wasn’t actually trying to get away... just to have a bit of fun.
The water seemed to go on forever as I continued to swim deeper and deeper, my lungs burning for air. But I relished this feeling, trusting Jun Li when he said that he had created a barrier between me and any sharks wanting a snack.
I started to swim up, wanting to get some air and see where the guys were, but a massive hand gripped my ankle, pulling me down.
I panicked for a second, but then I looked down to see Midnight’s bright golden yellow eyes staring up at me. Relaxing my body, I smile at him, nodding my head. I don’t know if he understood what I was trying to say, but I needed to let him know that I was okay with whatever they had in mind.
I was literally waving a red flag at a bull, and I couldn’t be any happier about it.
He pulled me down with a jerk of his wrist. As I went down, he wrapped his arms around my waist, and his muzzle rubbed up and down along the side of my neck. But that wasn’t what I wanted.
My lungs burning for air, my head becoming lighter; I placed both of my hands on either side of his face and brought his mouth to mine.
Was it anything like how humans kissed? Not a chance. And frankly, I was more than fine with that.
I never considered myself to be dominant. That always seemed like too much energy, but I took over this kiss, showing him exactly what I wanted and needed.
I ran my tongue over the front of his muzzle, the tip of it pushing forward just a bit to get him to open his mouth. He complied, giving me just enough room to slant my head to the side and enter his mouth. The surface of my tongue scraped over his upper teeth, not so much that it hurt, but just enough to cause me to shiver in reaction.
