Chapter 201: Feeling More Than A Little Stabby
"Now, personally, I don’t see how that is possible," I continued, scratching Night under his chin. He let out a happy chirp before starting to purr.
The Saalistaja on the other side of the screen stood there frozen, almost as if he thought that his movement would cause Night to attack him. Letting out a sigh, I studied the tribal chief in front of me. When Jun Li told me what the guys’ plan was, I knew that things weren’t going to work out with at least one of the two. Probably both of them.
But I would not accept my mates taking the blame for something that I insisted on doing. I was already going to declare war on the Alliance; if this tribe wanted to piss me off, I am sure that it would be much easier to take them out than a government.
"I don’t care what you do; you aren’t keeping my technology," growled the male, and I couldn’t help but chuckle. I wonder if being a Saalistaja had made him believe that he was invincible. I would fully admit that based on what I had learned, they were pretty damn hard to kill, especially when they had their nano armor on, but they weren’t immortal. Death came for everyone at some point in time.
"And you are willing to lose both your son and your technology? Or do you really think that you are going to be able to find me if I don’t want to be found?" I had suggested that Jun Li use a fake identifier when he dialed the tribal chief. Kind of like a VPN but for ships.
"You cannot kill my son," was the swift reply. I guess some people won’t cry until they see the coffin, so I should let them know precisely what was in store for this potential mate of mine.
With a snap of my fingers, fourteen adult nightmares appeared on the two males that didn’t belong to me. There were even two wrapped around the dreadlocks. I had learned from my males that that was one of the most sensitive spots on a Saalistaja male. But they never once considered the consequences of that weakness beyond the idea of being overstimulated.
"I am sure that you can see the nightmares now, right? Seven on your son, seven on his companion. I am sure that the ones on their arms and torso might have difficulty getting through the armor to inject their venom, but I can assure you that the two in their dreads won’t have that problem at all," I said with a smile on my face.
The two males that just discovered that they were covered in nightmares froze, not making a single move to set them off. However, what they didn’t know was that it didn’t matter if they started jumping up and down screaming; those nightmares weren’t going anywhere.
"You aren’t able to control them. And even if you can, there is no way for you to envenomate them through their dreads before the nanos in their system manage to neutralize the venom," said the irritated male.
Unfortunately for all of us, he was not the only one irritated right now.
"Look, Tribal Chief, if you are trying to call my bluff, I can assure you that I don’t bluff. I have more ways to kill them at my disposal than you have to save them. Just understand that the technology is mine, and I will put your son back on his ship and send him home to you. Alive. If not, you can watch him die." I could understand Da’kea’s frustration in dealing with this male. I didn’t want to make any more enemies, but that didn’t mean that I wouldn’t.
I was going to make a home for myself in this universe, but I needed to stay alive to be able to do that. If they took the technology, then Jun Li and I would be a little better than a sitting duck. And I was not willing to take that chance.
"Did you know that there is no known cure for the nightmare venom?" I said, closing my eyes and laying my head in my closed fist. The cramps were back, and I was not happy about it at all.
"Excuse me?"
"There is no known cure for their venom. That means that even if their nanos could save them right now, they wouldn’t be able to dispel it from their bodies or neutralize it. The best that the nanos could do is surround the venom so that it wouldn’t be able to get to their heart and kill them. But the nanos are suspectable to venom too, which means that as they are trying to surround it, it is eating away at them at the same time."
I looked at Ye’tab to see if he understood what I was getting at. "All of the nanos would be concentrated on dealing with the venom all the time, preventing them from doing their normal jobs," picked up Ye’tab, and I could see his eyes opened wider in understanding.
"They wouldn’t have any armor anymore. No protection from anything."
"A single well-placed knife would end their lives," continued Au’dtair, turning his attention to the nightmares on the males he considered to be his friends. It was too bad that they now stood on opposite sides.
"Well, that’s the theory," I said with a shrug of my shoulders. I scratched Night’s favorite spot right between his main two eyes. Sometimes, it really was the smallest thing that was the deadliest. "Should we try it and see if we are correct in our hypothesis?"
"No!" shouted the tribal chief, and I turned my head to look at him. He wasted so much of my time and energy. I was feeling more than a little stabby. Let’s see whose control would break first.
"No, what?" I demanded, placing Night on my shoulder as I came to my feet. "I am fucking tired of this back and forth, Tribal Chief. I can only assure you that you have some form of intelligence, seeing as you were made the leader of your people. But you aren’t proving it right now. I want your decision now."
