Chapter 122: Breakfast, Finally

I slowly woke up from a fantastic sleep and stretched my tight muscles. Clearly, sleeping in a giant pile of furs agreed with me if this was the type of sleep I got.

Pushing the white fur to the side, I got out of my nest and walked towards the bathroom.

Not bothering to hold back my yawn, I pushed my shoulders back, trying to stretch out my upper spine. Still very much in a daze from too good of a sleep, I went through the motions of turning on the shower and setting it to the appropriate temperature. Taking off my shirt and underwear, I walked into the massive shower that seemingly belonged in a magazine.

Turning around, I stood under the head and let the hot water loosen up all the muscles that I hadn’t. Once I felt myself waking up more, I quickly washed up and got out, wrapping a towel around my hair and body.

I opened my mouth, about to ask Jun Li about the plans for the day, when I realized that I had asked him to cut off all communications to me and my room until I went out into the hall. Grumbling about not knowing what to dress for, I just went for something comfortable: jeans and a forest green sweater. Throwing on a brown pair of ankle boots, I took off the towel from my head and let my hair do what it wanted to.

Leaving my cabin, there was a small squeak, and I looked down to see Night scurrying out of one of the robot holes in the wall.

"Morning, Jun Li," I said, looking up at the lens across from my door. "Morning, Night," I said to the creature before holding out my arms for it to crawl up into them.

"Good morning, Mei Xing," said Jun Li, sounding somewhat cheerful. "I take it you had a good sleep?" he continued, and I closed my eyes, my good mood disappearing.

"I had a fantastic sleep, thank you for asking," I replied, waiting for whatever had acting extra polite.

"That’s great! I am sure you needed it," he continued. I hated it when my AI started to beat around the bush like this. "Ms. Pippa Flynn is hoping that you would be able to return her 115 calls," he continued, finally getting to the point.

If only Pippa could get the point that I didn’t want to talk to her. My stomach growled, and I realized that it had been a while since I last ate. In fact, I think the last time was when my Guardian Angel cooked for me on the planet...

How many days ago was that? Two? Three?

"Make that 116 calls," said Jun Li after a moment of silence.

"That’s nice; I am going to go to the galley and try to find something for breakfast. I just realized that I was hungry," I said with a shrug. I was honestly used to going long periods of time without food. I think my record was a week on only a handful of crackers.

When I was concentrating on something, I completely forgot about the outside world, including the need to eat.

After I woke up from being tortured, well, I don’t think they were overly concerned about feeding me, and my stomach just learned to do without.

Damn it, I would have to start setting an alarm to remind me when I needed to eat.

Grumbling under my breath, I went to the dining room I had converted from the club/bar on this deck and went to sit down at the table.

"What would you like?" asked the little robot that came out of the wall closest to me.

"I’ll take bacon, scrambled eggs, and white toast, please," I said, putting in my order. It had taken me a long time to put all of the food I had taken from Earth into Jun Li’s system, including cooking instructions. I was hoping that the bacon would come out crispy and perfect this time. The first time I put in the order, it was still half raw... ew. And don’t even get me started on the scrambled eggs. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Understood," replied the bot as it spun around and disappeared again.

Taking out my cell phone, I pulled up my reading app and started to try and find something to read. Living in space had now ruined me on pretty much all of my regular sci-fi picks. Romance with aliens that look like aliens wasn’t what it used to be after seeing some of the different species out there. Mind you, I could think of at least one or two species that I wouldn’t mind having a romance with.

Well, that also depended on how one of them looked under his armor.

But I think I would very much stick with an alien that had discernable hands in the very least. Definitely a discernible mouth.

Shaking my head, I passed by the werewolf, vampire, and shifter section and went straight to the post-apocalyptic romances. Debating between two books, I decided on the one where she was the universal cure for the virus that was spreading across humanity, and the government was hoping to set her up with multiple sets of twins and triplets in the hope that she would have multiple kids as a result. It was an oldie but a goodie.

And let’s face it, once you read a reverse harem, you could never go back to ordinary MF books again.

Clicking on the first book, I got comfortable, wishing that I had a fur with me, and waited for my breakfast to be delivered.

"Hey, Jun Li?" I called out after a few minutes of trying to get comfortable. "Can you remind me to buy some more furs to put in every room of this deck?" I shouldn’t need them in the rooms I didn’t really use, but in the rooms on this floor, I did.

"Of course. Do you want me to get a bot to grab you one from your nest that is not a nest?" he asked, sounding sarcastic.

"Awe, aren’t you just the sweetest? I would love that, thank you," I replied, looking up from my book and into the lens.

"You know I was being sarcastic, right?" he sneered.

"Oh, I know. But you still offered, and I am taking you up on it. Whether you meant it or not has nothing to do with me," I chuckled before going back to reading.
