Chapter 110: The Right Outfit was Key

I had no idea what you would wear to a space station. And as ditsy and as airheaded as that sounded, it was not meant to come out that way. I didn’t want to wear my Merciless gear, not now that Midnight actually knew what I looked like.

I also didn’t think that a ball gown was appropriate either. Jeans and a sweater seemed a little weird to wear out with a bunch of aliens, and I didn’t even know the temperature of the station itself. Was it warm? Dry? Wet? A combination of everything? Yeah, I think I was much more in my head than I wanted to be right now.

"Jun Li," I called out, ending the silent treatment that I had been giving him since he connected the call with Midnight before I was ready.

"Yes?" he called out. I was pretty sure that he never even knew I was giving him the silent treatment—typical male.

"What do I wear on a space station?" I asked as I stood in front of my closet, wearing only my bra and underwear. I flipped through outfit after outfit, trying to find one that I thought would be appropriate.

"Clothes," came the reply, and I flashed him the bird.

"Thank you, Einstein," I sneered sarcastically. "What type of clothes."

"Has your memory gone? I mean, I had heard that the older humans got, the more likely they were to forget things. But you named me; you should be able to get that right at least," came his flippant reply back.

"I was being sarcastic," I muttered back under my breath before I turned back to my outfit choices. If it really came down to it, I could just wear my armor. That way, no one would be able to see me, and I wouldn’t be overdressed or underdressed.

And seeing how many species on Thuzirus went around without any clothes on, I was not that worried about being underdressed.

"Should I call Midnight, and you can ask him that question?" responded Jun Li, and I narrowed my eyes in return. The fucker would do that too.

"No, I’m good," I called out before turning my attention back to my clothes. I had tried to google space station outfits, just for a general idea, but there was no way I was going with any of those suggestions. I really didn’t think that any of those outfits would be appropriate for me. "Are we allowed weapons on the space station?"

"Yeah, you can have personal blasters, swords, that sort of thing," replied Jun Li. "How do things turn invisible on Earth?"

"I have no idea," I replied with a shrug. I found a pair of what looked like leather pants, but, like the rest of my wardrobe, it was made out of the same bullet-proof material as the rest of my clothes. "I think magicians used mirrors or something like that. That was why I told you I didn’t know if it were possible or not," I continued honestly.

I had no idea if we could do a cloaking device or not, but the idea had merit, and there was no harm in asking. "Have you asked Sha Shou how my armor manages to do it?"

"Sha Shou is busy trying to narrow down the ship that she is planning on infecting... I mean, taking over. She will get back to me later," sulked Jun Li. I chuckled. He sounded so much like a girlfriend whose boyfriend wouldn’t stop playing video games to pay attention to them. The poor AI.

"Ah," I said with a nod. I found a cute pair of black stiletto ankle boots from Earth that would look good, but I was still iffy on the top. I love my black leather jacket. If I left that open, it would make me look badass. Well, Earth version, but I still liked the look.

Now, what should I wear under the jacket? I didn’t want to be walking around in just my bra and jacket, but would a grey cotton T-shirt be okay? I quickly got dressed and looked at myself in the mirror that I had Jun Li install from Earth.

I didn’t know why the Sisalik didn’t have any mirrors, but apparently, it wasn’t a thing out here. Anyways, I looked at myself critically. Personally, I loved the look. But I didn’t know if it would be okay. I ran my fingers through my curls and fluffed up my roots, giving myself some more volume in the front.

Happy with my look, I quickly put on some simple makeup and then looked myself over again. I liked it.

But was I making a huge mistake? I didn’t want to be able to be recognized; that was a big thing to remaining under the Alliance radar. However, if I popped up as myself every so often, then I could act as my own red herring and lead them in a different direction from Merciless.

Yeah, I was just giving myself an excuse to be able to dress however I wanted to, but it worked.

Just as I was about to leave my room, the door opened, and in came one of the smaller robots.

"Hey," I said, kneeling down until I was about its height. "What do you have there?"

"Weapons," I replied, and as soon as I picked up the holster with two smaller blasters, it turned around and disappeared into the wall across from my door. That must have been how Jun Li found out about the Nightmares so easily.

With an unconcerned shrug, I put on the two thigh holsters. I had no idea how to use them yet, but at least they gave off the impression that I was not to be messed with. I had my passive weapons too, so I should be fine.

I just needed to remember not to follow little green men down strange hallways.

"All right!" I called out, and Night came scrambling out of one of the holes in the wall that the robots used. He crawled up my leg to perch on my shoulder. Letting out a high-pitched chirp, he summoned the rest of the Nightmares.

They lined up in front of me and waited. "Your dinner is whatever you can grab at the space station. Don’t get caught, please, and thank you. Also, make sure you are back before we leave. I don’t have a list of names, so I won’t know who is coming and going."
