Chapter 4389: A Spark Can Start A Prairie Fire
Nan Ling had placed far too much pressure on their human civilization. With that Plume Immortal removed, only Chang Dou and Si Qin remained.
Senior, do not worry. I will get you out as soon as possible! Don’t hand you over to Obscura? Lu Yin had actually considered using one of his rewards from Obscura to speed up Green Lotus’s release, but since the man had made that request, Lu Yin would not do so.
With a shrill cry, Chang Dou charged at the barren planet, intending to break the Crimson Lotus Tomb.
Lu Yin teleported after the bird, though not to stop it. Since Green Lotus was confident that he had sealed away both himself and Nan Ling, his efforts would not be broken easily. At the very least, it was beyond Chang Dou’s abilities. What Lu Yin actually wanted to do was kill Chang Dou.
The debt that the Plume Immortals had incurred would be repaid in kind. Previously, Lu Yin had killed Ni Ren to avenge the Mountain Sword Sect’s ancestor, and this time, he would kill Chang Dou to avenge those who had died before his eyes.
The hatred towards the Plume Immortals as a whole belonged to all of humanity.
Chang Dou brought down the talons of one foot to crush the Crimson Lotus Tomb, yet it could not damage it at all. From the bird’s side, a Godplume Spear shot out, striking the red stone with a sharp ringing sound, but that also failed to pierce the Crimson Lotus Tomb. No wonder even Ancestor Nan Ling was sealed inside.
The Plume Immortal was about to attack the stone yet again when Lu Yin appeared behind it, scythe in hand and ready to slash out.
The blade swept out, but Chang Dou vanished. Lu Yin spun around and threw a palm strike. A beam of mult-colored divine energy pierced space and blasted at Chang Dou, who fired a Godplume Spear to meet the attack.
The beam of divine energy was stopped. Lu Yin had already expended a great deal of energy while fighting against Nan Ling, and Chang Dou was roughly equal to Ming Yu in strength. As a two-law expert, it possessed approximately the same power as Lu Yin with his tri-colored divine energy transformation. As for someone like Nan Ling, that Plume Immortal could overpower Lu Yin even after he underwent his transformation.
More and more Godplume Spears descended, stabbing at Lu Yin like falling raindrops.
He teleported away. He had fought the Plume Immortals many times already. They rarely attacked him with an overwhelming number of Godplume Spears since he was also able to teleport. As soon as he teleported away, no matter how many attacks there were, the number meant nothing.
But Chang Dou did not want to crush Lu Yin; it wanted to force him away from the Crimson Lotus Tomb. Since it could not break the Crimson Lotus Tomb open, then it intended to find a way to carry it off instead. Even if Chang Dou could not open it, Ancestor Bei Qing or even Ancestor Shang Jing certainly could.
Lu Yin immediately understood Chang Dou's intentions. In front of him, the Manifestation Beyond the Pupil appeared, and fifteen black plates of armor blocked the way. The Godplume Spears slammed into them, one after another, producing continuous thunderous booms.
Seizing that chance, Lu Yin grabbed the Crimson Lotus Tomb and teleported away.
Chang Dou let out a shriek of fury and searched for Lu Yin.
Far away, Lu Yin placed the Crimson Lotus Tomb into a Zenith Mountain. He looked back at Chang Dou and rushed back over with a single teleport. His scythe, Aberrant, came slashing down. Behind him, a river of sword intent formed from Tri-Azure Sword Intent poured downward. Hidden within that river was another Dao Sword. Lu Yin was going to fight Chang Dou and kill the bird.
Chang Dou kept teleporting about. The river of sword intent was unable to even touch it. In the blink of an eye, the Plume Immortal appeared above Lu Yin's head, its talons already descending. Lu Yin threw a palm strike upward, divine energy erupting with enough force to knock Chang Dou back. The bird teleported again and again, attacking Lu Yin from every direction. "Human, release Nan Ling, or I will slaughter your entire civilization!"
Lu Yin's expression remained cold and unmoved. The river of sword intent continued to pursue Chang Dou, but the bird casually tore it apart with one sweep of its talons. The Dao Sword swept by, and its eyes went blank for an instant as it momentarily fell into confusion. This is the moment!
Lu Yin stepped forward, his body withering and recovering in a cycle as Heaven's Sight locked onto Chang Dou.
The bird’s eyes recovered, but because its karma had been severed, it was not able to instantly awaken. It instinctively looked at Lu Yin and saw Heaven's Sight: Crow Immobilization.
Not good! It finally remembered the threat of the power of the Ten-Eyed Divine Crow.
Lu Yin took several steps, bringing himself to stand before the bird. Roiling divine energy gathered between his hands. He brought his two palms together, as though crushing two blinding suns into each other.
"Si Qin!" Chang Dou screamed. Just as the palms were about to meet, a force pushed Chang Dou out of the range of Crow Immobilization.
Boom!
A blinding light illuminated the Human Trio. The collision of divine energy blasted the void apart for an entire region. Chang Dou had only barely been shoved to the side and had not gone far. Its body was tossed away by the blast of divine energy, and Si Qin was also blasted away.
Si Qin blocked the divine energy with one wing, yet its body kept hurtling backward. Lu Yin suddenly appeared and reached out to seize it.
Thousand Feathers, Thousand Changes. Si Qin split into a thousand forms, and Lu Yin's grasp missed. He clenched a fist, helplessness surging within his heart. The bird had been right in front of him, and yet he had still failed to even grab it. This was the power of the Plume Immortals.
Si Qin reappeared in the distance, and it stared at Lu Yin while glancing at its wing. What boundless divine energy!
This human’s strength was absolutely comparable to the power of the Plume Immortals themselves, and yet he was only a mere Aberrant. Damn it!
On the other side, Chang Dou also teleported away. When it reappeared, it likewise stared at Lu Yin with greater wariness. It was certain that Lu Yin should not be its match, but where had that overwhelming divine energy come from? When combined with the power of the Divine Crow and the human’s freakish physical strength, it was becoming impossible to fathom Lu Yin’s limits.
Lu Yin panted heavily, sweat streaming off of him. The tri-colored divine energy transformation had left him utterly exhausted, but he could not reveal that at this moment.
Even though Nan Ling had been removed, humanity would still struggle against just Si Qin and Chang Dou.
As long as these two Plume Immortals held back from forcing a direct clash and instead relied on teleportation and Thousand Feathers, Thousand Changes, humanity would eventually be worn down to death.
In the Tianyuan, Mister Mu and Jiang Feng wore grave expressions.
Blood Tower, Awe Gate, Master Qing Cao, Ku Deng, and the others who were further away were all feeling just how grueling this battle was. They had never expected that, at a time when humanity was growing stronger by the day, they could still be rendered so absolutely powerless. Not only that, they were only facing three Plume Immortals.
One could only imagine how horrific it must have been when the Nine Ramparts at their peak had faced simultaneous assaults from the Plume Immortals, Obscura, the Death Megaverse, and other civilizations.
Aside from Lu Yin, the rest of the human powerhouses had realized that they were not even able to participate in the battle.
The Plume Immortals' arrogance and conceit meant that they had always viewed all of the human civilization’s Immortals as targets, and that was what had produced the current situation. It also seemed that Si Qin and Chang Dou were intent on joining forces to take Lu Yin down together.
Lu Yin could only teleport about, evading their attacks. His repeated dodging caused the two Plume Immortals to become increasingly impatient, and their attacks grew fiercer and heavier, endangering countless lives.
Left with no other choice, Lu Yin took the Crimson Lotus Tomb back out of the Zenith Mountain and placed it at the center of the circle formed by all of the Immortals present. If they are able to, they can come and take it.
The Crimson Lotus Tomb and Lu Yin: those were the two targets that Lu Yin had placed before the two Plume Immortals. Only the Crimson Lotus Tomb could separate the two birds. Otherwise, if he allowed them to act freely, the Trio would certainly be destroyed.
As of this moment, the Consciousness Megaverse was already in the process of being reset due to the recent battle. Lu Yin did not want the Human Trio to be reset as well. If a megaverse started resetting, no one could stop it from finishing. A reset would be a disaster for the entire human civilization.
"Si Qin, I will deal with this human. You are better suited to snatching that stone," Chang Dou suggested.
Si Qin replied, "Be careful. This human is very strange. It now seems that Ming Yu's disappearance may not have been entirely because of that bug."
Chang Dou's gaze turned icily cold. "I know."
Si Qin teleported away.
Lu Yin warned everyone. At this moment, the battlefield was split in two. On one side, Lu Yin faced Chang Dou. On the other, Si Qin faced all of the human civilization’s remaining Immortals.
There were many Immortals present, yet they held absolutely no advantage against Si Qin. All they could do was protect the Crimson Lotus Tomb as best they could. It was a desperate measure born of necessity. If there had been even the smallest alternative, Lu Yin would never have used the Crimson Lotus Tomb as bait. If it was taken away, Green Lotus would never see the light of day again.
Fortunately, Lu Yin had a safeguard in place.
A red umbrella opened above the Crimson Lotus Tomb. Chu Songyun was not yet dead, only gravely wounded. He struggled greatly just to hold the red umbrella.
A ring of Immortals surrounded the man, all of them vigilantly staring at the Plume Immortal above them that kept appearing and disappearing. At this moment, humanity appeared to be utterly helpless.
Lu Yin averted his eyes. In front of him, Chang Dou closed its eyes and spoke in a cold voice. "I have never fought against your human civilization, but I have heard much about it. Even in the most glorious era of your Nine Ramparts, you would have been irreplaceable. If I kill you, human civilization will never recover."
Lu Yin tightened his grip on his scythe. "You’re overthinking things. Even if I die, humanity can still rise again. Our civilization has a saying: a spark can start a prairie fire."
Chang Dou sneered. "Even the Nine Ramparts of the past was defeated. What makes you think that you can do anything? You are nothing more than a lowly defeated civilization."
Lu Yin raised his scythe, its edge pointed straight at Chang Dou. "Because I can tear your bird beak apart."
As soon as he spoke, he teleported behind Chang Dou and slashed down with Aberrant. Chang Dou teleported aside, and the strike missed. Chang Dou's talons then fell from above, grasping for Lu Yin, only for him to dodge out of the way. Teleportation clashed against teleportation, and the two continuously flashed about the Trio. It looked as if countless Lu Yins and Chang Dous were fighting at once.
As for the other side, Si Qin was still trying to take the Crimson Lotus Tomb away, but it was not easy to seize. One obstacle was the red umbrella, a weapon that undoubtedly belonged to an expert of the Path of Dispassion who resonated with two cosmic laws. The other obstacle was the cauldron. The bird stared at the cauldron that floated above the Crimson Lotus Tomb. That cauldron gave the bird a sense of dread, and it had no wish to suffer a fate like Nan Ling’s.
In any case, given Chang Dou's strength, it would definitely suppress the human Aberrant, so there was no need for Si Qin to rush things.
This human civilization no longer had any power remaining that could contend with the two Plume Immortals. The war between Obscura and their own kind would not be decided easily. With their ancestor awake, there was no one capable of interfering with the battle against these humans. If anyone did interfere, it would only be another Plume Immortal.
Planets shattered from the power that Si Qing released. Mister Mu and the others stood upon those broken planets, defending themselves against Si Qin's attacks. They no longer had the leisure to pay attention to Lu Yin's battle.
It would only take an instant. If Si Qin saw even the smallest opening, it would use that opportunity to take the Crimson Lotus Tomb away. That was a loss that humanity could not bear.
Space shattered. Lu Yin used his Dao Sword together with his river of sword intent to attack Chang Dou. The bird was extremely wary of the Dao Sword and refused to meet it directly. It would only counter with Godplume Spears. When Lu Yin blasted those spears away with divine energy, he would be met by Chang Dou's talons.
He was being suppressed by the Plume Immortal, just as how he had previously been suppressed by Ming Yu. If Lu Yin had not relied on the Dao Sword hidden within the Immortal Lord to release a sneak attack, he would never have been able to defeat Ming Yu. All that Lu Yin could do was fight desperately.
Chang Dou's strength was roughly equal to Ming Yu's, and Lu Yin had already expended a great deal of energy beforehand. He was currently at a complete disadvantage.
Bang!
With a thunderous crash, the fifteen armor plates were knocked flying in all directions. They were indestructible, but Lu Yin’s sight power could not keep up. Chang Dou had thoroughly suppressed him.
Chang Dou had noticed a weakness. Although its Godplume Spears could be blocked, the purple power that supported Lu Yin’s Manifestation Beyond the Pupil could not last much longer. Let me see how many more times you can block me!
Tri-colored divine energy swept to the side, cutting through the cosmos. But Chang Dou simply evaded. It was even more cautious than Ming Yu and Ni Ren, and it refused to make contact with the divine energy at all. Every blast of divine energy that Lu Yin released was practically wasted.
He had never truly learned how to use divine energy. Direct collisions with his opponents were his forte, yet Chang Dou gave him no such opportunity. The bird was draining Lu Yin's strength away. Whether it was his divine energy, sight power, or physical stamina, all of it would eventually be exhausted.
