Chapter 140: Freedom At Last!
’I’ll just blow it up.’
Killian grabbed two of the orbs, channeling mana around his hands to hold them in their raw form.
He forced flames into their core, holding it away from his face as it surged with intensity.
The sea creature tore out from the water surface, and crashed onto the ceiling which Killian never took notice of.
The creature’s body was that of an enormous fish, with twin tails that propelled its movement faster.
Its scales seemed as sharp as knives, and the slim boy made it quick to streamline through the waves rising around it.
A deep hum reached Killian’s ears as the creature started its hunt towards him.
An idea lit up in Killian’s head and he took it, sprinting towards the sea creature before his survival instincts would judge him.
"Yes, of course. You have a strong will to live, but an even stronger desire for recklessness."
’Don’t judge me.’
The sea creature increased its speed at the incoming figure, having the waves around him slam on the walls and quake the realm.
Killian, being away from the edge, regained his sharper focus. Waves rushed to his side but he stepped, and watched them crash violently nearby.
Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. ’That was a close one.’ He leapt off the ground.
A shadow loomed over his position. ’Eh?’
KIllian quickly let go of the orbs of flames in his hand, letting them float in the sky just as the creature’s large blue tail slammed on him.
The force sent him under the surface, breaking through with blinding speed. Pain and confusion takes through his body as he tries to gain control.
Less than ten feet under the surface, Killian’s feet touched a rubbery ground that catapulted him upwards, breaking the surface pressure.
He landed with a soft thud, dripping wet with veins around his eyes, and panting heavily.
Killian opened his mouth and water streamed down. He avoided swallowing to not choke.
’It is good that he created the lower area to be rubber or I would have drowned. Why didn’t he tell me all these before sending me in here?’
The more he thought of it, the less this Realmcraft looked like an amateur level handiwork and more premeditated murder that he consented to. It was simply a cage designed to drown its victim.
The creature resumed its charge towards him.
Killian ran his hand through his wet hair, water glistening off his pale face as the light hit his skin. He wiped his face with the edges of his jacket.
"It is time." He told himself.
"Huh?" Theodore’s voice came.
"Shut up."
Fire burst out from Killian’s skin, almost drying his clothes and hair instantly. His Void-Bat dropped into his hand, and he gently threw the orb in the air.
The creature lunged forward. Killian took a sharp breathe, and leapt to the air, slamming the Bat against the orb of flames towards the sea creature.
The orb danced across the rising waves, the other two following it’s trajectory.
BAM!
They buried into the chest of the creature.
SCREAMMM!
Its screams riled the waves and the impact of the blast scattered the waves, pushing them towards Killian.
He had already resumed his sprint towards the walls. Once again, using Piercing Scorch, he blast through the scars he had formed on the walls.
The walls melted to the ground, and the dagger created a deeper hole. The waves crashed unto the walls, slamming Killian against the wall as well.
The sheer force of the impact cracked the weakened walls, and broke them down.
A wave of mana flowed out of the broke realm.
Killian regained his balance, grabbed his floating dagger, and slid to a stand against the door of the training room. The room was quiet and a chilly breeze blew past his already cold body.
He coughd out water again, lightly hitting his chest that threatened to burst with how quickly his heart was beating. He squeezed his hair dry, and slid them to the back before facing the boys.
Theodore and his younger brother watched him with wide eyes and a mix of caution.
Killian starightened his stance, trying not to act as weak as his body felt.
"I’ll give it a B+."
Theodore gasped, covering his mouth. "Really? That good when I couldn’t even get myself in?"
Killian averted his gaze. He would give the attempt an ’A’ if he wasn’t annoyed at how much trouble it gave him. And for a Realmcraft created with that mana of a low ranked Warden, that was impressive.
"Well, the main point of the Realmcraft is to trap your enemy in a unfamiliar place where you control. And while it’s best to be in there, you had a tough cage and defense mechanism. B+ is suitable."
Ephraim hummed, and casually high-fived his older brother. "Just work on getting in this time."
"Yeah, yeah, I should... Thanks, Killian!"
"Sure," Killian turned away, and grabbed the door knob. He exhaled and saw how cold his breath was. From the corner of his eyes, he spotted the glacier still there. Unmelting. ’That had to be created and sustained by mana at this point. ’
"Hey, how about I get lunch for you." Theodore asked when Killian opened the door. "You said you haven’t had one yet, right? Ephraim and I are leaving to—"
Killian cut in. "No, thanks."
"Huh, is it wrong for a guy to get you food? Don’t read too much into it."
Killian turned to the boy, his eyes lowered that they looked closed. "I don’t care about the food. Its just that simple. Also, you shouldn’t hang around me much," he added. "Like you warned, I did get into some kind of trouble with outcasts. You are a Top Scorer too, right?"
He asked to confirm what Reginald told him, but with the realmcraft creation, it didn’t seem so hard to believe.
Theodore raised a brow, walking towards him. "So you knew?"
Killian faced him fully. ’It seems he really wanted to keep it a secret for long. Then how come Reginald already knew?’
"I knew just today," he answered. "And some people do know about it, but they never told anyone so you’ll be safe—"
"Oh, you just knew today? That makes sense." Theodore sighed. "I always wondered why you ignore me but I guess you never knew I was a Top Scorer till today."
A cold breathe left Killian’s lips again. He folded his arms, looking intently at the blond boy.
"Are you insinuating that I treat you differently, and only accepted your offer today, because I learned that you are a Top Scorer?"
