Chapter 50: A New Perspective
’I mean this is very logical, why did I not think about it before?’ Arthur suddenly realized how stupid he was, the system had been with him for a long time, yet, he had not known about something very obvious, like the existence of a main interface.
He shook his head in disappointment at himself, and wondered what else he might have missed. The system was like a supercomputer inside his head, and like any ordinary computer, there were many features, and perhaps settings that he could only access by searching well.
He was curious about what was in the main interface, but unfortunately, he was unable to find out, because of the system’s malfunction.
’The positive side is that the system is restarting and recalibrating itself, so I think it will return to working soon. The message saying try again later confirms that. I only hope I am not wrong.’
Even though he was displeased with the system for abandoning him when he needed it badly, just thinking about losing it permanently, made him feel intense tightness in his chest.
He pursed his lips regretfully, then muttered: "I cannot deceive myself, system, I truly need you, so please come back online."
Since he began his new life as a wolf, the system had been his only constant companion, it kept him company in his solitude, and responded to his voice, and many of its messages had brought happiness to his heart.
Yes, it was not very talkative, and rarely intervened of its own accord, or rather its programming, but it, at the same time, always helped him, whether directly or indirectly.
Most importantly, the system was his greatest cheat, if it disappeared, he would have an extremely hard time with many things, and even with his bloodline, who knows how much time he would need to reach the next Rank, that is in case he was able to advance normally like the creatures of this world.
Unfortunately, there was a lot to think about, and first among them was how to explain to the spider woman the reason for his inability to use his Storage skill, it was clear she would be very angry when she saw him dragging the food, instead of bringing it in the Dimensional Storage.

He remained frozen for a moment, then suddenly furrowed his brows showing some concern. ’Thinking about it, besides my Evaluation and Dimensional Storage skills, are my other skills not working either? No..., I do not think so, I used the Enhanced Senses skill earlier, and it is working efficiently, as for the rest, it is better that I test them.’
Without any hesitation he activated the Tracking skill, and at that moment, his eyes picked up many unclear tracks he had not noticed before, and he also smelled several very faint scents that were well mixed with the rest of the scents filling the place.
’This is very good, it is working without any problems.’ He felt a little relief, and when he was about to deactivate it, and activate the Iron Will skill, he suddenly picked up a very suspicious scent that quickly disappeared.
’Wait, what was that?’ He activated the Enhanced Senses skill, which strengthened the Tracking skill, and after sniffing the air several times he managed to pick up the strange scent again, and this time, it was clearer.
A strange feeling of unease came over him, all his fur stood on end, and a shiver ran through his body, then suddenly, his bloodline which had been dormant for a long time, showed a familiar, faint reaction, which did not last long.
’Well, this is not truly reassuring.’ There was no need to think about it. Because of his previous experience with the spider woman, he instinctively realized that some kind of powerful creature was nearby.
Despite that, there were some small details that confused him, such as the fact that no matter how hard he tried he could not determine the exact direction from which the suspicious scent was coming, and it kept fading away, making it difficult for him to track.
’Is it possible that it is in a very distant place, or perhaps it does not live in this area in the first place and merely passed through it? Perhaps this is why the reaction my bloodline showed was short and faint.
From a certain angle, this seems logical but, it is better, not to lower my guard, powerful monsters are good at concealing themselves, it may be right beside me and I do not realize.’
He swallowed hard, turned his head and examined his surroundings well, and when he confirmed it was empty, he scoffed.
’No matter. If things go south and a monster I cannot defeat attacks me, I will run straight to that spider woman and take shelter with her. She is my mistress now, and protecting me is her responsibility. Even if she does not want to, all I have to do is drag her into it, and she will be forced to intervene.’
At first he did not truly mean what he was saying, but after taking a brief moment to think about it, he realized that because of his anger and displeasure, he had overlooked many positives of his current situation.
The spider woman was arrogant and extreme in both her actions and emotions, and this was in truth a weakness he could exploit.
For unlike her, Arthur was originally a human being, with great emotional intelligence, and for this reason he had a good idea of how to deal with people like her, and had already dealt with some of them in his previous life.
He stood silent in his place like a statue while inside his head a meticulous plan was taking shape. Little by little, his lips twisted in a strange way, and in the end, a wide smile full of cunning appeared on his face.
"This is good... no, this is excellent." He felt a little satisfaction with himself.
Without thinking about the matter further, he redirected his full attention toward his skills, examining them one after another, and fortunately, all of them were working perfectly, except for the Regeneration skill whose effects had weakened because of his Vitality being damaged.
Seeing the rest of his skills working, made him understand that the reason behind the malfunction of the Evaluation and Dimensional Storage skills, was their direct connection to the system, for technically, they are two external skills that do not 100% belong to him.
In any case, after organizing his affairs, and improving his mental state, he bit the crocodile by the tail again, then continued dragging it toward the spider woman’s nest.
Time passed very slowly, and despite the exhaustion, he dealt with the obstacles on the way with great patience, and after two full hours of dragging, he arrived at the nest.
He stood before the entrance panting, took a deep breath, then said: "I have brought some food, as you ordered."
