Chapter 126: Combat Training(GT Bonus Chapter)
The two of them walked toward the center of the massive throne hall.
Neither hurried.
Neither released their aura.
Yet the atmosphere gradually became heavier with every step they took.
Kael flexed his fingers as countless thoughts ran through his mind.
Ever since awakening, his combat style had gradually evolved into something rather unusual.
He wasn’t a swordsman.
Nor was he a spearman.
He wasn’t a mage.
Nor was he a martial artist.
His fighting style revolved around a single philosophy.
Use whatever worked.
If a sword was the fastest way to kill an enemy, then he would use a sword.
If a spear gave him the advantage, he would wield a spear without hesitation.
If his fists were enough...
Then he would simply punch his way through.
He had become a true jack of all trades.
And to be honest, he quite liked that approach.
Being unpredictable was an advantage in itself.
An opponent who couldn’t predict your next weapon would always hesitate, and hesitation during battle often proved fatal.
Still...
That versatility came with an equally troublesome problem.
Weapons.
Most Hunters specialized in a single weapon throughout their entire lives.
A swordsman only needed one exceptional sword.
A spear user searched for one powerful spear.
A mage invested in a single staff.
Take Lyra for example.
With the Staff of Unmaking in her possession, she likely wouldn’t need another primary weapon for many years to come.
Her path was straightforward.
His...
Was an entirely different story.
Even if he somehow obtained another weapon on the same level as the Staff of Unmaking, it still wouldn’t solve his problem.
One weapon wasn’t enough.
Two weren’t enough either.
His combat style demanded multiple weapons, each suited for different situations, different enemies, and different ranges of combat.
And obtaining treasures of that caliber was far easier said than done.
Previously, this had never been a problem.
Back when his strength was still relatively low, ordinary weapons had been more than enough. Steel blades, alloy spears, reinforced gauntlets, they could all withstand the level of combat he engaged in. With his Infinite Reward Multiplier Talent constantly showering him with treasures far beyond his current level, Kael had naturally assumed that weapon procurement would never become an issue.
As he grew stronger, better weapons would inevitably appear.
At least, that had been his original line of thought.
Unfortunately, reality had taken an entirely different turn.
His growth rate had become absurd.
No...
Absurd wasn’t enough to describe it anymore.
Every passing day, his strength increased at a speed that even he found difficult to believe. By the time he managed to acquire equipment suitable for his current level, he would already have outgrown it. A weapon that was considered a treasure today could very well become obsolete tomorrow simply because his own power had exploded beyond its limits.
Unless he possessed something capable of growing alongside him, his fighting style would eventually become impossible to maintain.
Fortunately...
He did have something.
The Primordial Genesis Sutra.
Strictly speaking, it wasn’t the cultivation technique itself that solved the problem, but rather what the technique did to his body.
From the very first moment he began cultivating it, the Primordial Genesis Sutra had continuously refined every inch of his flesh. Every muscle, every bone, every drop of blood, every single cell within his body was undergoing an unimaginable transformation.
His cells were no longer merely cells.
They were slowly evolving into miniature celestial bodies.
Miniature universes.
Each carried within it a terrifying amount of potential waiting to be awakened.
As his cultivation rose, his body naturally became tougher.
Sharper.
Denser.
At every realm he stepped into, his physical body would eventually become comparable to the finest weapon of that same stage.
Most people would have considered that enough.
Kael didn’t.
After all, possessing a durable body had nothing to do with his combat style.
His greatest strength lay in versatility. His ability to seamlessly transition between different weapons in the middle of battle was what made him so difficult to predict. Simply having durable fists didn’t solve that problem.
That was where Earth Energy entered the equation.
Over the past few days, Kael had spent a considerable amount of time experimenting with it, and the more he understood it, the more terrifying its potential became.
Earth Energy wasn’t simply heavy.
Nor was it merely durable.
It possessed characteristics far more profound than that.
During one of his experiments, he had subconsciously infused Earth Energy into the edge of his palm before swinging it through the air.
The result had startled even him.
The strike had sliced through the air with the sharpness of a blade.
Later, he condensed that same energy into his fist.
Instead of becoming sharper, the impact became unimaginably heavy, resembling the crushing blow of a massive war hammer.
A kick infused differently felt less like a leg and more like a gigantic battle axe capable of cleaving apart everything before it.
That single discovery had opened an entirely new path before him.
If he could fully understand Earth Energy...
If he could precisely control every one of its countless properties...
Then perhaps...
His own body could become every weapon he would ever need.
A living arsenal.
A swordsman without a sword.
A spearman without a spear.
A hammer wielder without a hammer.
He would simply shape his own body into whatever weapon the situation demanded.
