Chapter 16: Class Advancement Trial
The Inner Guild Sanctum was vastly different from the chaotic, rowdy atmosphere of the lower-tier Adventurer’s Hall.
Here, the floor was laid with polished obsidian tiles that reflected the high, vaulted stained-glass windows above.
Massive stone statues of legendary heroes, Paladins, Archmages, and Shadow Assassins, stood at absolute attention along the walls, their carved eyes staring down at the few elite players who walked the halls.
The background music in Asher’s ears shifted seamlessly, transitioning into a low, rumbling orchestral beat backed by a heavy, modern 808 bassline.
The visualizer at the bottom of his stream interface flickered with steady, violent pulses.

[LootGoblin]: Look at this place. The graphics engine is flexing again. The reflections on the floor look like ray-tracing on steroids.
[MinMax_Andy]: This is the Level 10 Tier-1 Advancement Zone. Normal players spend weeks grinding sub-quests just to get the reputation required to enter this gate. Asher bypassed the entire grind because of his Perfect Clear on the regional elite.
[User_Tim99]: Streamer, look at the center pedestal. There’s a giant floating crystal hovering over an iron basin.
Asher walked down the center aisle, his heavy obsidian boots thudding against the reflective tiles in perfect time with the dark, heavy beat.
His new matte-black armor plates absorbed the colorful light filtering through the stained glass, making him look like a shadow cutting through the grand hall.
Standing in front of the floating crystal was a tall, imposing NPC wearing flowing white robes laced with heavy silver plates.
Above his head floated a prestigious gold name tag: [Grand Arbiter Marcus - Tier-1 Class Specialist].
Marcus turned his head as Asher approached.
His calm, disciplined eyes scanned the young vanguard, pausing slightly on the faint, violet-crimson smoke of Soul Fracture that subtly rippled across Asher’s dark pauldrons.
"A Bronze badge," Marcus spoke, his voice echoing cleanly through the vaulted ceiling.
"Yet the ambient mana surrounding your soul is dense enough to match a seasoned veteran. Traveler Chronos, you stand before the Tier-1 Crucible before even reaching the baseline Level 10 threshold. Do you understand the risks of an early evaluation?"
"I’m not here to wait," Asher said smoothly, his silver eyes locking onto the Arbiter without a hint of hesitation. "Open the trial. Let’s see what the system has to offer."
[GamerGuyX]: ’I’m not here to wait.’ The absolute swagger of this guy.
[NoobSlayer]: He’s only Level 6, but his stats are already sitting at Level 12 parameters because of the gacha extractions. Let him cook!
Marcus let out a slow, approving nod. "The path of the Vanguard is not one of hiding behind iron. It is the art of becoming the wall upon which the world breaks. Step forward and place your weapon into the basin."
Asher drew his steel vanguard sword with a clean, sharp shing.
He stepped up to the stone structure and placed the blade into the deep iron basin beneath the floating crystal.
The moment the steel touched the stone, the hovering crystal violently flared, changing from a calm, pale blue to a deep, ominous crimson.
[System Notification: Early Advancement Trial Initiated.]
[Host Level: 6 | Class: Vanguard (Variant)]
[Calculating Trial Difficulty based on Hidden Attributes...]
[Warning: S-Rank Passive ’Ironhide’ and D-Rank Skill ’Soul Fracture’ detected.]
[Difficulty Modifier: Overloaded (Abyssal Tier)]
[MinMax_Andy]: ABYSSAL TIER?! Wait! The system scaled the trial difficulty to his hidden stats, not his level! This is going to be a Tier-2 level boss simulation!
[Whale_Watcher]: Look at the floor! The obsidian tiles are melting!
The polished black tiles beneath Asher’s feet suddenly dissolved into a swirling vortex of dark purple smoke.
The grand hall around him began to distort, the statues of the heroes stretching and melting into the shadows until the entire sanctum vanished entirely.
[Entering Instance Zone: The Broken Bastion (Abyssal)]
[Objective: Survive the onslaught and defeat the Simulated Echo.]
Asher felt his body drop, landing heavily on a cracked stone platform surrounded by an endless, stormy sea of purple lightning.
The wind howled, whipping his messy dark hair across his forehead.
The tiny mechanical camera drone zipped high into the air, capturing a sweeping, cinematic view of the isolated arena for the seven thousand viewers watching back on Earth.
At the far end of the platform, the dark purple smoke began to condense, weaving together into a massive, terrifying silhouette.
It was an exact, dark mirror of a high-tier Vanguard warrior, standing nearly eight feet tall.
The entity wore jagged, heavy dark-iron armor that looked like solidified volcanic rock.
In its right hand, it held a massive, glowing executioner’s axe that crackled with arcs of unstable black electricity.
[Trial Target: Echo of the Iron Tyrant (Level 12 - Abyssal Simulation)]
[Health: 1,500 / 1,500]
[Status: Unstoppable Force (Passive - Grants immunity to low-grade stagger effects)]
The massive Echo lifted its giant executioner’s axe, its hollow visor flashing with a pair of burning crimson eyes that locked directly onto Asher.
It let out a deep, distorted roar that caused the entire stone platform to vibrate violently.
Asher pulled his steel vanguard sword from the virtual inventory link as it materialized back in his hand.
He looked at the 1,500 HP bar floating in the dark, then looked down at his own sleek, matte-black Obsidian chest plate.
The heavy orchestral beat in his head hit its peak, the bass dropping with an intense, hollow echo that synchronized perfectly with his breathing.
"Fifteen hundred health, immunity to stagger, and a level twice my own," Asher muttered, a cold, lethal grin breaking across his face as his silver eyes illuminated under the stormy sky.
He slid into a low, aggressive duelist stance, the violet-crimson smoke of Soul Fracture flaring violently around his leather-wrapped hilt.
"Now this," Asher whispered to the camera drone, "is a real stream."
