Chapter 147: Thinking ahead

White Knight Settlement.

Three days had passed since Lukas and Natasha returned from their adventures. By the time he came back, there was no sign of Ambrose anywhere. Just as he was about to go out in search of her, he received a handwritten note from her asking him not to look for her.

Hmm... she left the note on purpose to make sure I wouldn’t chase after her.

Thinking this, Lukas could not help but curl his lips upward. What made the girl think he would ever chase after her in the first place?

After another thought, he stopped thinking about her and instead focused on his surroundings. A stone-green garden filled with red roses came into view.

What a beautiful garden....

Looking at the scene, Lukas could not help but smile faintly. He was resting in the White Knight Guild Master’s residence.

Some might say, What does he mean by that? Did he want to use the teleportation formation as fast as possible?

Now that he was back, why was he not working toward eating the herb or even meeting the guild master, now that they knew each other?

It was not like that. There was simply nothing he could do about it. The White Knight Guild was facing an all-out attack from the Centinors, so the formation had been shut down. Restoring it was going to take some time. From what he had heard, they had already started working on it, but even in the earliest estimate, it would take a month.

So all in all, Lukas was not going anywhere soon.

After another look, he turned his focus away from the garden and back to the fusion of the two stars in his body.

The fusion of the two stars was still underway and showed no sign of completing any time soon.

Other than that, there was still no sign of Tommy coming back as well, although he had a feeling this fusion might soon end.

But he still was not sure, ever since he had entered the Sword God’s inheritance ground.

After thinking about all that, Lukas took a deep breath and muttered,

During this time, I can only find a way to accelerate the fusion process.

Thinking up to this point, he let out another sigh. Doing this was easier said than done.

If even geniuses like the Death God’s disciple took one year to fully fuse, what did he have that could make the process easy?

However, Lukas’s hope was built on valid reason.

The Death God’s disciple... what was his name again? He was a rare talent, someone with nine-star talent. The difficulty he faced while trying to fuse them all into a single cosmos was immense.

If I can accelerate the process, there’s a chance to do it in even less time.

"Hmmm... I need to start experimenting..."

Time continued to pass as Lukas kept working.

Before he knew it, two more days had gone by in the blink of an eye. In these past two days, no one came to disturb him. In the silent calm of the garden, Lukas was busy finding something — that lost sensation.

During the busy and chaotic adventure, while being chased by Natasha, he had briefly entered a strange state in which the fusion speed had surged into chaos. Yet even in that state, the speed at which the two stars merged was unprecedented, something he had never seen before in the past.

Something that no herb or pill could replicate.

If only I could enter that same state again...

Lukas’s eyes were filled with longing. Then, for a very brief moment, a look of hesitation flashed in those eyes.

I might not have clearly remembered it, but in that accelerated state of fusion, the consumption of star energy in my veins was also the greatest. If it were not for the Sword God’s space freezing the star energy, it might have completely consumed all the star energy residing in my body, draining every last drop away.

But the ring-like space capable of freezing star energy had come to the rescue. If not for that, Lukas did not even want to imagine what would have happened.

So if I ever want to use that special state again, I would need a stable amount of star energy that could help sustain the process without me being completely drained.

Lukas made a note of this and decided to ask Natasha when she came to visit.

Time continued to pass until the next morning.

Natasha, now more visibly relaxed, dressed in a tightly fitted black gown and entered the garden. The black cloth of her dress gleamed against the smooth surface.

Just one look and Lukas’s eyebrows shot up. For some reason, it looked like she had put quite a lot of effort into dressing up.

He had heard quite a lot about how women dress to impress the person they like... could Natasha have fallen for someone? Who could that lucky guy be?

Just as he was thinking, Lukas’s train of thought froze for a second, and a possibility surfaced in his mind.

Wait... no way. She would not fall for someone.

The trope of enemies-to-lovers was too common in the novels he used to read, but this was reality. In real life, such a thing did not happen. Enemies-to-lovers was only possible when the entire story was being written by an author.

While he was thinking, Natasha stopped when the distance between the two of them was less than an arm’s length. She was so close that Lukas could even claim that she had invaded his personal space with her aura and strength.

Thinking up to this point, a mischievous smile appeared at the corner of his face.

Natasha noticed this and asked with a smile, "What’s wrong? Still thinking about the events from before?"

She was referring to the thought that he still had not gotten over the events in the Sword God’s inheritance space. Her thinking was reasonable. After all, after the fighting they had endured, both of them were simply exhausted. At the very least, she had yet to experience something that could even stop the flow of star energy, leaving her entirely vulnerable.

Hearing her calm voice, Lukas came out of his train of thought and shook his head.

"No, it’s something else..."

Without wasting time, he quickly brought his request to her.

"So, something that can provide a steady stream of star energy for a short time?"

Natasha fell silent, as if trying to remember something.

"There are many such items, but none of them are easy to obtain on short notice. The only thing that makes sense for now is a Star Energy Pill, made from the beast cores of sequence monsters."

However, there was one problem.

Lukas looked at her with expectation in his eyes. He almost entirely ignored the problem, and as long as there was a way, he was going to make it happen.

"You need at least a Grandmaster-level alchemist to refine it successfully, but all these grand alchemists have high and mighty attitudes. Even with my White Knight Guild Master status, they might not budge."

Lukas’s face tightened slightly.

He wanted to say, Then what use are you becoming guild master if you cannot even help with this? If the guild master position is just useless decoration, then you might as well give the position to someone else.

Still, he did not lash out. Remembering something, he took a deep breath and said, "You gather all the materials and leave the refinement to me."

There was still that guy, Mark, Son of grand master grade potion maker. They had yet to repay his debt.

Natasha simply nodded, choosing to believe his words. Then, with her face slightly reddening, she looked at Lukas and asked, "By the way, have you thought about the three wishes to fulfill?"

Immediately hearing those words, the smile on Lukas’s face turned slightly roguish, and even a little evil.

"Of course, I already decided. What am I going to wish for?"

"Why is it, Natasha?" she asked back.

Lukas, however, shook his head.

"No, this is not the right time."

"For now, I have one thing to do..."

After hearing those words, Natasha also did not press further, and simply left after saying, "You will be all right by tomorrow."

Lukas also nodded. Once Natasha’s figure completely disappeared from his view, he turned to Connor and said, "Help me contact Mark... Mark...!"

Immediately a shadow shot out from the corner carrying his message.

He didn’t wait for Marks confirmation but shifted his focus to next matter at hand.

"Tommy had already evolved to become a Second sequence creature, I can’t stay far behind.."

Lukas thought with his eyes sharpening. It doesn’t matter how many skills or talent he had in front of absolute force they were nothing but paper tiger, his short but meaningful encounter with Natasha had already taught him this. The only popular way in which a human could advance to second sequence was blood infusion.
