Chapter 77: Belial, The Cursed Sword. (3)
Lloyd had used Gleipnir’s chains to restrain the sword, while he had frozen Alice’s legs to prevent her from moving.
However, it hadn’t been enough, when the boy launched himself at full speed against Alice, she threw a punch surrounded by demonic energy.
Lloyd felt time stop, he knew receiving that blow full on wouldn’t be pleasant.
But his acceleration was too high to brake or deviate.
So just before being reached by that blow, Lloyd summoned Siegfried’s helmet on his head, seeking extra protection.
The boy received the punch full on, which was strong enough to break the helmet and send Lloyd flying.
Part of the energy was absorbed by the [Chaos Core], however, a large part of it managed to penetrate his touki and reach him.
Upon doing so, Lloyd felt a wave of pain run through his entire body.
Like a wave of pure pain that infiltrated his mind to torture him.
The young man bounced multiple times on the ground until finally being embedded in a wall.
Meanwhile, the demonic sword overcharged Gleipnir’s chains with demonic energy, disintegrating them.
"HAHAHAHA! How does it feel to receive my demonic energy full on? Thanks to my demonic nature of torture I can inflict horrible damage on my victims! You must be agonizing," the sword exclaimed arrogantly.
But Lloyd hadn’t been defeated.
His combat with Siegfried had made him more resistant to pain. He could endure it better than a normal person.
Moreover, his [Chaos Core] was absorbing the remains of demonic energy that had entered his body, so he wasn’t in special danger.
The boy came out of the wall and looked at the sword with a sarcastic smile.
"Yeah, I suppose it’s somewhat annoying," the boy commented while stretching his aching limbs.
The sword fixed its eye on Lloyd, as if analyzing him.
"Oh, how interesting, you seem capable of absorbing demonic energy. Is that your demonic trait? From what I see you have demon blood inside you, moreover you even seemed to know what ’Xoth’ was, and only demons of royal blood or pure demons know the star’s name," the sword commented curiously, while its pupil kept moving observing Lloyd.
The boy let out a long sigh. He knew about the star of Xoth from the novel.
It was the place from which outer beings came.
They were born by fission, being expelled from the star.
Though the weakest demons used to be fissions of larger outer entities.
While impure demons were those humans who mutated from the blasphemous energy that filtered into the world.
Pure demons were also called Djinn, because they were made purely of demonic energy.
"Yes, I have demon blood, what about it?" Lloyd commented with an indifferent expression.
It was true, his mother was half demon, so he had a quarter demon in his DNA.
He belonged to an incubus lineage. Not to mention, a lineage of royalty.
"Well, that you’re a demon is very convenient! Now that I know you’re one of mine, I can’t kill you so coldly," he commented with a tone that almost seemed kind, however it changed again to an arrogant, almost contemptuous tone. "So if you get on your knees and beg to be my slave, maybe I’ll think about forgiving your miserable and pathetic life!"
The sword roared while letting out a laugh.
That weapon sought to anger Lloyd, make him lose patience.
It was easier to defeat someone who lets themselves be controlled by anger after all.
Though there was also the small but improbable possibility Lloyd would submit to him.
But it was very unlikely, demons hated submitting, they only did so if the power difference was too great or if they were offered something interesting.
However Lloyd wasn’t in such a situation, so Belial doubted the boy would submit.
But contrary to his beliefs, right at that moment, Lloyd got on his knees.
He wasn’t kneeling, he had simply fallen to his knees and extended his arms.
"Alright!" Lloyd affirmed calmly, he almost seemed happy.
Belial’s eye opened fully at the confusion those words had caused him.
Was he really going to surrender?
"Are you really going to submit to me?" the sword asked incredulously, then let out a loud laugh. "HAHAHAHA! It seems I underestimated your human part, I see you’re as cowardly as them! Well, I suppose you had no other choice, there’s no denying being my slave is better than dying painfully. If we see it that way, you’re quite intelligent."
The sword affirmed, he had known cowardly humans and honorable humans, generally cowardly humans were the ones who tended to survive longer.
They were cunning.
There was a very funny saying in that land.
"Demons invented honor." Supposedly because many people had died in the name of honor, and that was bad.
However, he knew honor could give strength, though in the end it was useless.
While cowardice only prolonged a torment that would end in death equally.
Demons weren’t usually cowards, at least those without consciousness, who only lived to destroy, like a virus or bacteria that consumes everything.
However, demons with consciousness tended to prioritize their survival. If they had to submit to survive they would, but it didn’t mean they liked it.
They would always try to find a way to stab in the back whoever was forcing them to obey.
But humans were different, those who became slaves of fear wouldn’t betray their master, simply out of fear, or perhaps out of habit.
Otherwise, how was it possible there were villages going hungry, while their bosses lived in luxury.
Knowing how weak some nobles were, it was as easy as waiting for the noble to have only a few guard escorts, and everyone attacking the noble together.
However, they didn’t dare. They preferred to suffer mistreatment than fail a revolution.
But, what type would Lloyd be? Of the slaves of fear, or of those who would stab him in the back?
The answer was... neither.
"What are you talking about? Submit? Don’t say stupid things. Just, kill me," Lloyd then said with a calm expression. "End my ’miserable and pathetic life.’"
Belial was stunned.
Had he heard correctly?
